13.01.2022 We were contacted back in May to inspect a Hyundai I Load that had 2 claims repaired, a small front impact and side panel replacement. The vehicle inspection co...nfirmed the vehicle was misaligned and the painting was particularly poor. The insurer decided it was not economical to repair and arranged for the original repairer to pay out the sum insured to our client. A short time later I checked and discovered the vehicle was not on the WOVR, it appears the insurer has condoned allowing the repairer to "repair" the vehicle and sell it on to an unsuspecting buyer. I wonder if the Minister for Better Regulation approves of this disregard to the Written Off vehicle laws. Partner Repairers accept the terms of the contract with IAG then proceed to deliver quality like this, and are rewarded with more work. Why do you need to choose your own repairer? If you have had your vehicle repaired get a independent opinion on the work quality. See more

08.01.2022 With the approval of NRMA Assessing the rectifying repairer carried out a scan, electronic measure and removal of paint & filler. Insurers and some repairers t...hink all they have to do is attend some i-CAR Training and they have credibility. This is the repairer that NRMA Insurance promotes and tells you they give a Lifetime Guarantee on their work. As a former employee of IAG I feel very sorry for the assessors who have to deal with this on a daily basis but I am even more sorry for the car owners having to be placed in this position. Proof once again if your car has been in an accident you need to have someone independent approve the method of repair, how could you ever trust your insurer to do the right thing when money is involved? Will NSW Fair Trading investigate or are they waiting for someone to be injured first? See more

02.01.2022 Another day another buyback to record. We were contacted in January this year by the owner of a Lexus CT200h who had been in a not at fault accident. The owners... had already taken the car back to the repairer Capital Smart Banksmeadow when we carried out our inspection. Refinishing red 3 layer pearl can be demanding at the best of times but when parts are masked instead of being removed the chances of returning the vehicle to pre-accident condition are zero. The customer had been complaining to AAMI as far back as November 2019, the assessors decided further rectification (paint strip & respray) was just not worth the risk of failure again. If you have had your car repaired, do yourself a favour and have someone independent check it for you. See more
