25.01.2022 Running for Council what is it like? For the most part it’s a great experience. You get to meet some incredible people, have some lovely chats with residents, walk out A LOT of flyers, hear the community vision and ideas for the area and make a difference in your community. ... But, it is not always positive. It is not always easy, and it takes its toll. This Council election has been nasty, and it should never be like this, but I think it's important for the community to understand what goes on. There has been threats of burning down my election posters/billboards, people following myself and my family and then posting often creepy comments online about what shops we have been to, or what we purchased at the shops. People have posted and continue to post horrible things online about me, my family, our business, my 93 year old grandmother and even my dog Banjo. These individuals would stop at nothing to destroy our business and our livelihood. Some nights we had hundreds of cyber attacks on our business pages and website that were all seemingly all linked back to one family. My partner and I were left with no other option other than to seek intervention orders against these people to protect ourselves and our family. But all of this also makes me more resolved, because our community is incredible! Our community is united. We are focussed on the positives; we are focussed on helping one another and we are focussed on making our community a better place to live. Our community has overwhelmingly said no to hatred, no to racism, no to homophobia, no to violence, no to destroying small businesses and a BIG YES to a strong united community. Remember to vote this election, because your vote DOES count to making our community a better place!

25.01.2022 Provisional Election Results - Longbeach Ward I'm incredibly excited to say that provisional results for Longbeach Ward have now been released and I have now received the required number of votes to be elected with 4317 votes. (I'll place the provisional distribution results in the comments below). Declaration of the poll will be on Wednesday the 11th of November (subject to any recounts required) where the results will be finalised. ... I'd like to thank the other candidates who ran in Longbeach Ward, with a focus on positivity and the community. I'm proud to be representing our City once again and look forward to a positive 4 years ahead. Thank you to everyone who supported me through this election campaign and to all those who placed their support behind me when filling in your ballot. We've got 4 years and I won't waste a minute of it to make our community a better place. Thank you!

24.01.2022 This little brushtail possum fell from a tree yesterday at a family members house and was on the brink. He was cold and didn't look too good. Thanks to some lovely people in our community, this little guy made it to the vet although we didn't think he'd make it. He went into an incubator, got some food and pulled through. Tonight he'll be reunited (hopefully) with his mum in the tree where he fell.... Good news to start your Tuesday

22.01.2022 Today we remember all our fall servicemen and women - we remember their lives and their sacrifice. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.... Lest we forget.

21.01.2022 We are a diverse community who come from many lands. We have so much to celebrate together - so let's celebrate the different cultures that make us the wonderful City of Kingston.

21.01.2022 Election Results Update It’s been nice over the past week taking a bit of a break and enjoying some of these beautiful sights across Kingston! But... there’s still votes being counted. ... I’ve had a lot of questions about election results for all the wards. Here’s the time-line as of today. As of today - all wards have now had their group A votes counted. These are votes received by the VEC prior to the 24th. All wards will have their group B votes (that’s votes received by the 30th of October) counted by Thursday evening. This will determine whether any candidates have reached quota (the number of votes required to win). Friday, Monday and Tuesday will then see all wards have the preferences distributed to determine the winners of each ward. Declaration of the results is likely to be around the 11th of November (subject to any recounts). Any questions don’t hesitate to ask - enjoy the sun and beautiful weather

20.01.2022 Happy Donut Day! 0 cases, 0 deaths and restrictions easing come Wednesday.

19.01.2022 Let's not talk politics or elections for a post... Like the good old does sauce go in the fridge or cupboard debate, or does pineapple belong on Pizza.... How do you eat your scotch finger?! ... react for break it in half and then eat react for eat it straight away My answer....

19.01.2022 School photos are now allowed in Metro Victoria outdoors. Families can document the crazy year in the school life journey, and yes, no masks for the photo. Can you tell who's in these school photos in Prep and Year 12?

18.01.2022 Return dog home policy! Our dogs are our family! And when they decide to go for a walk by themselves and go missing, it can be pretty devastating! I'm really proud that I was able to implement a return dog home policy that reuintes lost pups with their owners as soon as possible to avoid them going to the pound. ... Instead of only being able to contact the owner - dogs can now be returned to nominated emergency contacts within the City of Kingston if they go missing, and can also be returned to their owner's workplaces. Meaning dogs no longer have the traumatic experience of going to the pound. It's about reuniting pups with their families as quickly as possible! Banjo's pretty excited about this one! Woof!

18.01.2022 Pretty honoured to be included in the list of young Victorians making an impact alongside a pretty impressive group of young people.

18.01.2022 I know that traffic in and around Chelsea and Edithvale has been looked a lot like this at the moment. And it's been causing some HUGE safety problems. ... So I recently moved a motion that was supported by Council - that Council considers some short, medium, and long-term solutions to traffic around Chelsea, in particular, to make it safer for pedestrians (especially the little ones heading to and from school and kindy). We've been working with the LXRP to develop some solutions to try to improve the traffic situation along Nepean Hwy and around Edithvale and Chelsea which have included options such as increasing the lanes in the direction of peak hour travel and other options while the major occupation takes place later this year. Council will also be looking at the development of a Local Area Traffic Management plan in the area surrounded by Thames Prom, Station Street, Glenola Road, and Scotch Parade to improve safety for the residents, road users, and pedestrians (particularly the families of Chelsea Primary, St Josephs, Chelsea Daycare and Chelsea Kinder). They'll be some huge change in this area with the Level Crossing Works, the Mordialloc Freeway, and road changes - but this shouldn't come at the cost of safety.

17.01.2022 It's the Chelsea Shops pumpkin Hunt! Are you ready? Halloween might be a little bit different this year, but the Chelsea Traders are doing it in a COVID safe way!! A great way to get everyone back shopping local, supporting our wonderful traders and celebrate Halloween! ... Get your pumpkin searching shoes on!

17.01.2022 Is your voting ballot sitting on your kitchen table? on your fridge? still haven't opened the envelope? or is it ready to post and you just haven't done it yet? Just over 30% of the ballots have been received for Longbeach Ward, one of the lowest return rates for all 11 wards. Don't forget to vote this election and you'll help shape the future of Longbeach Ward and Kingston for the next four years. ... If you haven't received your ballot, you'll need to organise a new ballot. You can do so by calling the Kingston Election office on (03) 8619 1435. If you haven't already posted your ballot, you have until Friday to do it, but don't leave it to the last minute! Remember to follow all instructions on the ballot and number all boxes for your vote to be valid. This election, I'm asking for your support and to VOTE 1 Georgina Oxley. By doing so, you'll be voting for: A Chelsea Local Someone who runs a small business locally in Kingston A passionate community representative An experienced Councillor and Mayor I'll continue to deliver for you on: Securing a leisure centre locally in Kingston's South Preventing inappropriate development with mandatory planning rules Protecting and enhancing our environment, beaches, wetlands and parks Introducing soft plastics recycling Supporting families and businesses with rates and charges discounts to assist in COVID recovery Improving our playgrounds, parks, walking and cycling tracks Getting the basics right including drainage, traffic, footpaths and roads Connecting and supporting our local businesses through COVID recovery

17.01.2022 Let’s talk about transparency and accountability. Every candidate this election will be required to submit a donation return - which will indicate where they have received money from if the amount is over $499. The main problem is, the community don’t get to see it until after the election is done and dusted and it only requires declaration over $499. So here’s my donation return - not just those over $499. ... Donations received - $0.00 I’m fully funding my own campaign. Which means I don’t answer to developers, political parties, special interest groups, lobbyists or any such groups. It means I answer to YOU! Our community. I am accountable to the community always! The way it should be! So what do you think, should ALL donations be declared, even those under the current threshold of $499? When should they have to be declared and how? Should certain donations be banned?

16.01.2022 Kingston COVID Update Please see below release from DHHS If you are experiencing symptoms (even if they are mild) please get tested and isolate. ... Social distancing and wearing masks where you can if you can’t socially distance (even when they may not be mandatory) are our key tools to fighting this virus! More information to be provided as it comes to light.

16.01.2022 Kingston Outdoor Dining Approved Last night Council held a special Council meeting to expedite the process for approving outdoor dining applications. This means that businesses won't have to wait months and months for outdoor dining approvals and parklet outdoor dining to help get the hospitality industry back on its feet and the community back together supporting local again! ... After much feedback from residents - I also added some additional safeguards to ensure that Councillors and residents could be involved particularly in applications that might impact residential houses so that our community can work together on some great outcomes. Parklets and pop up activations approved last night include: SunnyBoy Beach Club Mamma Francas Pizza Hall Just Italy Parkers Pavilion Parkers Cafe We've also reduced our Health and Food Registration fee for the upcoming year to help businesses get back on their feet. Which local cafe or restaurant are you visiting next? Tag a recommendation for a friend! My next visit is OKAMI Japanese Restaurant

14.01.2022 I've said this before and I'll say it again. The most important thing right now is not the restrictions. So I won't be posting about them because there's plenty of sources for that information. What is important and what I will be posting about is YOU! It is okay to feel angry, upset, anxious, or even lonely right now.... It's okay to feel uncertain and to feel like you're trying to balance every single thing on top of the other. 09.01.2022 The lovely legends at Alice Rebel's Cafe are sharing the dignity this year - and they need your help too! Christmas can be a really hard time for everyone - particularly women who can barely access the essentials they need that we might take for granted. So Alice's Rebel's need your help to Share the Dignity far and wide this year, because 2020 has been a real tough one for so many! ... Can you donate? Do you have some spare handbags or bags? Can you donate any products? Can't make it to Alice Rebel's - I'm happy to come and collect and drop off with the legends at Alice's. Let's help those doing it tough this year to ensure they have the essentials this holiday period.

08.01.2022 2020 looked a little different than expected! Most of it has been filled with photos that looked pretty similar to this one with masks or even on zoom (let's be honest in pajamas). Council meetings have been virtual, working from home became the norm.... and it wasn't always easy. We missed family, we missed friends, we missed birthdays, gatherings and so much more but through everything our community stayed together. ... We supported each other with bear hunts, with murals, with messages of support on fences or footpaths in chalk. Whatever we could to let everyone know they are not alone. So from us to you - goodbye 2020 and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. May 2021 keep us together despite the challenges it may bring. Stay safe, be kind and happy new year!

08.01.2022 Happy International Womens Day! I want to celebrate and acknowledge our Kingston Women for all that they do. We must challenge stereotypes, we must tell our stories, we must support women and celebrate their achievements. We must support girls to believe in themselves and have the confidence to be exactly who they want to be. ... Today I particularly want to acknowledge my Mum and my Nanna who taught me that being a strong woman is a strength and that you can in fact do anything you put your mind to! I also want to acknowledge our female Councillors leading at the City of Kingston - Cr Jenna Davey-Burns, Wattle Ward, City of Kingston, Cr Tamsin Bearsley and Cr Tracey Davies. Happy International Womens Day!

06.01.2022 Visiting Nanna today and getting out for some fresh air and some lunch at Le Roi Cafe. We even introduced Nanna to my favourite all time drink Remedy Drinks Kombucha made just across the border in Frankston City Council. Safe to say from her reaction she was pretty impressed! ... How are you spending a typical Melbourne Weather weekend?

06.01.2022 Just over the border in neighbouring Frankston City Council there’s an absolute gem of a walk! Sweetwater Creek is a great loop walk that’s lovely and shady on a warm day and was a great way to start 2021. Best part - it’s dog friendly (on lead) ... How did you start 2021?!

But you need to contact the local election office to organise a replacement vote. The number is (03) 8619 1435... Below is my how to vote to make filling out your ballot a little bit easier. Happy voting!

04.01.2022 An absolute pleasure to attend the opening of the refurbished 7th Cheltenham Scout Group. When I visited their hall almost 2 years ago - their roof was falling apart, they had a water feature from the leaking roof down the wall, a small kitchen and a lack of disability access. But they made it work to continue to deliver awesome programs for young people in our area. It was about time they had updated facilities to match their incredible program delivery! Opened by Lord Bad...en Powell - the hall now has some wonderful updated facilities and I’m so proud to see the work on our Scout Hall upgrades continue to bring them up to modern standards! Thanks to all the leaders at 7th Cheltenham who make it such a lovely inviting group for young people to learn and grow! Plus - Check out the new mural on the front of the hall of Lord Baden Powell by local artist Ashley from KIL Productions Ping Cr Jenna Davey-Burns, Wattle Ward, City of Kingston Cr David Eden - Kingston Scouts Victoria

04.01.2022 It is so fantastic to see such incredible women nominated for our Woman of the Year Award. This award is so important for breaking down barriers, chucking out gender stereotypes and more importantly recognising our incredible Kingston Women. We've got sportswomen, leaders, activists and more importantly incredible women doing incredible things. ... Find out more about them Ps. Did I mention they are incredible?

04.01.2022 It’s my last round of letterboxing before the campaign is done and dusted and it’s safe to say my feet and Banjos feet hurt! Thanks to everyone for the friendly chats, the water for Banjo and the friendly waves over the fence. We’ve letterboxed rain, hail or shine and we’ve had a great time!

03.01.2022 I know traffic at the moment is looking a little bit like this.... and I'm sure we've all driven around frustrated and annoyed because we can't find a park recently - particularly near the beach on hot days. ... But sometimes there are some other transport options that may even get you there quicker (particularly at the moment) Public transport Walking Scootering and of course bike riding! We've recently installed at Victory Park "the Wheelie". Which shows just how many bikes can be parked in just one car space. One car park caters for 9 bikes in the Wheelie and is a Wheelie great (I'm sorry for the pun, I had to) way to get around, particularly with all the level crossing removal works going on at the moment. Cr David Eden and I tried it out and we loved it. We'd love to hear your thoughts - where else in Kingston could do with a Wheelie? You can share your feedback at kingston.vic.gov.au/thewheelie

03.01.2022 A wonderful day officially opening the Regents Park Netball Courts. Whilst we may have opened them virtually last year - it was so awesome to open them in person and unveil the plaque at the first home game at Regents Park for the Edithvale Aspendale Netball Club. These courts wouldn't have been possible without the tenacious advocacy of Helen Hollis and Cr David Eden - Kingston ... Go Eagles for Season 2021 at their new home at Regents Park!

02.01.2022 Time is running out Just under 67% of the ballots have been received in Longbeach Ward already, is yours one of them? If not, it's not too late.... but it will be soon!... That's less than 24 hours away! Don't miss your chance to shape our community.

If you don't celebrate Easter - I'm sure you celebrated the incredible weather ... We explored the Mornington Peninsula and went hiking with Banjo How'd you spend your Easter Weekend?
