25.01.2022 Great day out at the Wild Deer and Duck expo with Field & Game Australia

25.01.2022 Well here I sit absolutely disgusted with the Victorian Government’s treatment of hunters in the announcing of the 2020 duck season arrangements. The announcement of a modified season that is over restrictive in both season length and bag limits flies in the face of a measured and fact driven approach to seasonal modifications. Previously made submissions to the Game Management Authority were based on forecasted information and conditions have only improved since. The decis...ion by the Government today has shown that the process for determining the seasonal arrangements is flawed. It relies on inaccurate information and is subject to objection based on ideology and politics. Never before has a Government been so disorganised as to have left this announcement so late. It has placed pressure on businesses supplying the sector and strain between employees and their workplaces in arranging leave. Hunters should feel gutted and let down by this decision. See more

22.01.2022 Petition time. It only takes a minute and it doesn’t matter if you’re a duck hunter or not. This Government has encroached on recreational public land users for far too long. Please sign. Please share. https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au//view-e-p/details/12/178

22.01.2022 Ah the serenity.

16.01.2022 The Government is yet again showing it’s contempt for hunters by denying us a timely flow of information around our legislated duck season. But don’t forget, It’s not just us duck hunters suffering from this ridiculous process. This is Max. He’s a good boy... and last night when I came home I had to look him in the eyes and say ‘not yet mate’. ... Max is like so many other gun dogs who put in hours upon hours of training all year round so that they are at peak performance when they get to hunt ducks. It’s what they’re bred to to. It’s in their blood. It’s their meaning of life. Share this around, show me your patiently waiting best mates, and tell The Government that they’re barking up the wrong tree on this one. It’s time to #givemydogaduckseason

15.01.2022 Tonight we read a bizarre story touting the amazing story of the success of the place labelled Winton Wetlands... To long time locals, this special place ...will always be known as Mokoan or Winton Swamp. We will not republish this article, but safe to say some cold hard facts need to be spelt out.. Between 2005-2009, the local communities of the North East including Benalla and Wangaratta fought in desperation to stop the draining of Lake Mokoan. Unfortunately against public sentiment, the Bracks Govt needed the vote of East Gippsland independent Craig Ingram. To win this, water needed to be found in the system and returned to the Snowy River.....The deal was done and Lake Mokoan along with the dreams of locals flowed down the Broken River. In the 11 years since, the State Govt of Victoria has invested almost 20 million dollars into a concept that has failed the people. The venue never established a case for an environmental watering plan, and has only had water a handful of times in the decade since. The wetland as a marketable venue to attract ecotourism has failed. A wetland without water on a regular basis will NEVER attract the required tourism to support the business model. Particularly when you remove public activities that communities enjoyed for generations. According to local Shires, the project is now delivering less than zero economic benefit to the region. This is a travesty. The venue is overrun with vermin and now large numbers of Sambar deer, with the management enlisting pro shooters at a cost of thousands...all the while locking out recreational hunting. No matter how many bike tracks you build... No matter how many trees you paint pink.... No mater how many commissioned sculptured murals and portraits you erect... IT WILL NEVER REPLACE WHAT WAS LOST. The venue is not a private art gallery... It’s the public recreational heart of North East Victoria... all 8,500 Hct of it ! It should be enjoyed and used in the best way to benefit the region and its community ... AND IT IS NOT. Whilst there are some good people in this project, the sheer arrogance of the committee of management in not acknowledging community wants from this public crown reserve is disgraceful. The facts are, this current style of Elitist ecotourism will never repair the rift between the community and its current governors. This was once the biggest recreational economic driver in the region.... The jewel of the North East they called it ! There was a marketing change recently reintroducing the name Mokoan in an effort to distance itself from a brand that has become tainted. The battle to give Mokoan back to the traditional user groups is far from over. The State Govt is so far into the red for the coming budget, it’s almost impossible to see them continuing this pink elephant whilst supplying ongoing funding. The facts are this venue needed to be able to stand on its own feet without the Victorian tax payer propping it up to the tune of millions of dollars...and it hasn’t. Where will it go post the current regime... That is the big question. Stay angry and demand to see Mokoan opened again to traditional recreational uses like fishing, hunting and boating. It’s time to fight for Mokoan again ######## PLEASE SHARE #####

14.01.2022 Victorians are tolerating the current extraordinary restrictions on their lives for the purpose of social distancing. However the Victorian Government’s direct...ions which permit solo jogging while banning solo fishing and hunting, and even ban the sale of recreational firearms and ammunition have nothing to do with social distancing, and are a step too far. These measures divide our community and are an attack on traditional Australian cultural pursuits while contributing nothing to fighting the virus. Firearms users are some of our most heavily regulated and scrutinised citizens and overwhelmingly law abiding. Instead of division and slurs they deserve respect from the Victorian Government. 12.01.2022 LATEST UPDATE ON RAINFALL GUIDE FOR THE FORTNIGHT AHEAD. There has been a lot of interest in the upcoming wave of weather spreading through southern and easte...rn Australia over the coming two weeks or so. The latest data from the European weather agency does support multiple rain events in the next 12 to 16 day window. There will be a southerly change that moves up the New South Wales Coast tomorrow and with that there is the chance of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms along that boundary, particularly over the southern ranges with the ACT tomorrow afternoon. The major rain event is starting to unfold through part of South Australia this evening a broadband cloud with patchy rain isolated thunderstorms is already unfolding just offshore the Central Coast but some rain has started to fall through the outback as well This upper level disturbance will start to deepen as it’s crosses through part of South Australia through Thursday, localised heavy falls are possible as we track severe thunderstorm potential throughout part of South Australia during Thursday. During Friday we have that trough approaching the three-way corner of Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia we will see some big falls all along that boundary, as the trough starts to push in towards the eastern states. But due to the nature of the rainfall being more convective that is with thunderstorms in the mix there is the risk that some areas will get less in some areas will get a lot more however I do suspect there will be plenty of rainfall being achieved in that region. The system starts to weaken is across New South Wales and the Queensland Central interior during the weekend, there will still be some scattered showers and thunderstorms in a broken band through the states and some isolated heavy falls are possible. Next week it gets interesting we do have a follow-up cold front with another trough that will lift the residual moisture that is left over from the weekend system, and that is likely to produce another band of thunderstorms and areas of rain and this will likely be more pronounced through central and eastern parts of New South Wales and Queensland as well as most of Victoria as well. Later on in the outlook period we can see another broad area of instability crossing through southern and eastern areas of Australia and this is likely to produce another burst of widespread rain and thunderstorm activity, with high humidity level sticking around for the best part of the rest of the month through inland areas. Overall this is in line with the move towards a La Niña weather pattern and we are starting to see that develop through most of the Pacific basin at the moment and also we have to keep an eye on the Indian Ocean as that will have some influence during the Austral spring. I will also add I think rainfall will be more widespread for parts of QLD during this period I have attached the latest rainfall guide from the European model tonight and this is different to this morning however the signal is still there for some widespread rainfall throughout the month of September as we push also into October.

11.01.2022 ***A plea to Dan Andrews*** Honourable Premier, Diversity is what makes this State of Victoria so incredible. Diversity of cultures, diversity of beliefs, dive...rsity of recreations and diversity of lifestyles are but a few of the differences afforded to those who are lucky enough to call Victoria home. As duck hunters, we add to and strengthen this diversity. We, as a collective group of more than 26,000 licensed duck hunters, come from a variety of different races, backgrounds, occupations and social demographics. What we have in common, is a deep-seated passion for the outdoors and the bounty that it brings. Yes, we enjoy hunting ducks, it is something we take pleasure in and it would be a misrepresentation to suggest otherwise. But it is done with purpose - to take pride in the ability to put a meal on the table at the hands of our own efforts and skill, not dissimilar to fishing. Mr Andrews, we call upon you to accept and support the diversity of our group and what we offer to the regional economies of Victoria. Now more than ever, allowing a 2020 Victorian duck season to go ahead would be a significant boon to the communities that have been effected by bushfires and hardship. Indeed, there are opposing views to ours and we don't deny that. However Premier, we implore you to make a decision that is based on science and fact, not emotion and scaremongering - to quote a line from one of your recent posts, "don't let fear ruin what's great about this state." The most recent Eastern Australian Waterbird Survey showed an improvement in wetland availability and waterbird numbers over and above the Survey which led to a duck season being called in 2019. The community of duck hunters in Victoria is relying on you and your previously stated support of duck hunting in this great State.

09.01.2022 Tune in tonight at 7. Just deciding what whisky to drink while we’re on.

08.01.2022 Pretty good when you're working from home, you stop for lunch and your wife says, I can see ducks sitting on the dam.

08.01.2022 Poll. Please vote No. The Victorian Government can’t manage the Parks that already exist. Where does it end? The Great Forest National Park is an ugly attempt to take thousands of hectares from the central highlands State Forest network. ... The recent VEAC central west investigation showed its bias again with a recommendation to turn State Forest into National Parks. If they have their way there will be no more hunting, 4wding, riding, camping or anything else in the bush. https://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au//1c05e4746bda5abf9697a67

03.01.2022 From 11:59pm Tuesday groups of 10 people can participate in outdoor activities in Victoria whilst maintaining social distancing Premier Dan Andrews has just ann...ounced. More details to come but we have confirmed hunting is one of the activities enabled by this easing of COVID-19 restrictions. No travel limit but no overnight stays or camping. Some National Parks will reopen. UPDATE; 12:44pm We expect the restriction on the sale of firearms and ammunition will be lifted at the same time as the restriction on hunting. Through our advocacy we were aware this was the approach being considered in Victoria. Heart Morass will be open for hunting. We will provide more details later today. We are compiling information for Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and NSW in relation to hunting and clay target. We will issue full advice later today.
