25.01.2022 I had a phone call from a friend one morning a short while ago. She had had a call from her doctor to say she had the all clear from a serious illness and he does not need to see her again. So praise God for his mercy! How wonderful! My friend said she felt so thankful for everyones prayers and support. [ 1,320 more word ] https://graciouscreations.wordpress.com//match-attitude-a/

24.01.2022 Many Christians have had their faith deepened by the writings of James Packer who died recently at the age of 93. Here is a link to an article about his life and work. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org///j-i-packer-1926-2020/

23.01.2022 The following brief article appeared in a mission magazine many years ago. The point it makes is very thought-provoking. NO MORE APPEALS NO MORE MISSIONS Do you get tired of appeals for money in our churches? Perhaps we do, but they will not stop as long as churches are active. Some time ago in a bulletin letter from Rev D R Aikenhead, superintendent of the Canadian Sunday School Mission, is this striking incident: [ 181 more words ] https://graciouscreations.wordpress.com//no-more-appeals-/

23.01.2022 Australian churches are not the only ones affected by the coronavirus outbreak!

23.01.2022 We have heard a lot of bad jokes in our lifetimes - but this is probably the worst! Enjoy?? Mary Poppins stopped at a hotel for the night. She approached the receptionist and asked for a room for the night. "Certainly madam", he replied courteously. "Is the restaurant open still?" inquired Mary.... "Sorry, no," came the reply, "but room service is available all night. Would you care to select something from this menu?" Mary smiled and took the menu and perused it. "Hmm, I would like cauliflower cheese please," said Mary. "Certainly madam," he replied. "And can I have breakfast in bed?" asked Mary politely. The receptionist nodded and smiled. "In that case, I would love a couple of poached eggs please," Mary mused. After confirming the order, Mary signed in and went up to her room for the night. The night passed uneventfully and next morning Mary came down early to check out. The same guy was still on the desk. Morning madam...sleep well?" "Yes, thank you," Mary replied. "Food to your liking?" "Well, I have to say the cauliflower cheese was exceptional, I don't think I have had better. Shame about the eggs though....they really weren't that nice at all," replied Mary truthfully. "Oh...well, perhaps you could contribute these thoughts to our Guest Comments Book. We are always looking to improve our service and would value your opinion," said the receptionist. "OK, I will...thanks!" replied Mary....who checked out, then scribbled a comment into the book. Waving, she left to continue her journey. Curious, the receptionist picked up the book to see the comment Mary had written. Wait for it............ "Supercauliflowercheesebuteggswerequiteatrocious!"

21.01.2022 The following article is from Teh-Kallim, Vol 5, No 9, December 1985, page 39 From Alf Lewis, 2/31st Battalion Joe Vella was nicknamed the ‘Gentle Giant’ of the 2/31st Battalion. Popular throughout the unit Joe gained the respect of his mates, in and off the field of battle. Joe, who was born in Malta, also was a man capable of showing great kindness. 21.01.2022 This is a scanned copy of the programme for the commemoration service to mark the 50th anniversary since the fighting on the Kokoda Trail. The paper is starting to go yellow and the quality of the photos on the cover are not so good but still wonderful to remember the gruelling slog and the terrible cost to preserve our freedoms. https://2nd31stbattalion.wordpress.com//kokoda-trail-50-y/

16.01.2022 Here is a very worthwhile programme put on by Australian Family Association. Please promote it to any young adults you know. Dear friend, Do you ever wonder what's going to happen to the next generation? How will they receive the training and formation they need to thrive in today's world? ... Maybe you have children or grandchildren at university or just starting their careers, and you're seeing them struggle with the challenges surrounding them. Perhaps they're experiencing confusing messages and contradictory information. This is why we sponsor YPAT. In its 11th year, YPAT (Young Political Advocacy Training) is, traditionally, a week-long, immersive, live-in training program. It equips young people aged 18 30 with the best insights into social, political, institutional and moral issues to help them form their outlook on the world and to take their place in it. This year, because of coronavirus restrictions we're doing YPAT a little differently. We're running an online version from 28 Jun - 3 July. In just a few minutes a day, a young person will be able to access the key insights and concepts they need. Avoiding time consuming Zoom meetings, delegates will receive two short and succinct, high quality videos every morning during the course of the program, accompanied by a study guide and resources. On three evenings of the week, they'll enjoy live interaction events with their fellow delegates and guest speakers. WHAT CAN YOU DO? Think of a special young person in your life, maybe a child or grandchild. YPAT might just be the greatest gift you can give them. Owing to Covid-19, we are running this online program at very short notice. It requires producing professional quality videos and materials which comes at a cost So I am prevailing on your generosity to invite you to donate towards the costs of production. If you like you can choose the talk or talks you would like to help sponsor via the following links. Your generosity will impact future generations. Day 1: Understanding Advocacy Day 2: Importance of People and Purpose Day 3: Standing up for the Family Day 4: World Powers and False Information Day 5: Creating Change I thank you sincerely for any donation you make towards providing the YPAT program. Your donation will impact future generations. It is much appreciated. Kind regards, Terri M. 16.01.2022 A few months ago, it was Mothers Day. Yes, I know it was Mothers Day and I should have had some message that is light and fuzzy but when I was talking to Elizabeth about Mothers Day, she said to me, You know. Mothers Day is a wonderful, happy time, but for some people it reminds them that hard things, unfair things also happen. 15.01.2022 Image 1 Sometimes you meet a happy, lovable Christian woman who is a joy to be around. 12.01.2022 Amazing to have suffered so much yet lived so long.

12.01.2022 Problems in the Bible #1 Elisha and the bears what a nasty story! I am sure that many a Christian has read this story and been horrified and wondered why we need to have such a story in the Bible. We all have some parts of the Bible that we have trouble with. We have problems with them because they appear to present a view of God and his dealings with people that shows him to be unjust or unkind or even harsh and unloving. 11.01.2022 From Bob Burla If you were one of the soldiers who trained at the Sellheim Army Camp, then no doubt you will be interested to know that a reunion of old soldiers who passed through there will be held in Charters Towers over the weekend of Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September 1985. On Sunday they will parade once at Sellheim to unveil a monument which will mark the old camp site and commemorate those who trained there and later died on war service.... https://2nd31stbattalion.wordpress.com//sellheim-army-camp/

10.01.2022 The following article appeared in Teh-Kallim, Volume 2 No 3, December 1967, page 67 and 68; the author is simply "George" - who George was we have no idea but his descriptive writing style is excellent! 10.01.2022 Whats going to happen this year? Good question. Some of you I think are probably rather apprehensive about the coming year. You think of President Trump, you think of Xi Jin Ping, you think of Vladimir Putin and you are concerned about what the year will bring. This is perfectly understandable. From a human point of view, it is often hard to see sense as history unfolds before us. [ 1,878 more word ] https://graciouscreations.wordpress.com//whats-going-to-h/

10.01.2022 Red Liners By Jim Moore 2/25th Battalion This poem was started when Jim was in hospital in Moresby, and he read an article in a newspaper written by a special correspondent, stating that Red Liners were always the first to let their mates down, when things got tough. 07.01.2022 Holocaust Remembrance Day In July 1944, prisoner 79467 found herself among a group of Hungarian Jewish women herded into the gas chamber in Auschwitz. 04.01.2022 Since we have been on holidays in Western Australia we have attended church at Mandurah. The pastor is Joel Otten and his wife Stephanie. 04.01.2022 'Rejoice always.' It is so uplifting to see all the posts on line of people making the most of the universal 'lock down'. There are posts of people singing, exercising, walking, sewing, cooking, doing drama and gardening. The list could go on and on. I love the fun ones like BinIsolating where people do fun things, drama, singing, dressing-up, Birthdays and Anniversaries while putting out the Wheelie Bin for Rubbish day. I have just loved all the jokes especially the ones c...entering on toilet paper. Doing all these things have made people happier and they have coped with the isolation better. It started me thinking about how the Apostle Paul encourages us to 'rejoice always'. Christ's people are to be always rejoicing that Christ is with us in every situation no matter how alone, burdened, happy or sad we find ourselves. We probably won't video ourselves putting the Bin out and 'rejoicing always' (but you can if you want to) but we can give God thanks and tell others how good it is to have Jesus Christ's company all day every day even during an 'universal lockdown'. 03.01.2022 GOING FORWARD! BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES CONCERNING CHURCH GROWTH Christians of an older generation can often be heard lamenting the changes between church life in their young days and church life today. If it is lamenting for the sake of lamenting then it has no value. If our lamenting throws us back on God and on the principles in his Holy Word then it has great value. 01.01.2022 MARRIAGE WEEK - a celebration designed to promote the biblical view of marriage is being held this year from 13th to 19th September. 01.01.2022 GOD'S WORD ENDURES FOREVER. Just recently Lindsey and I learnt that a dear friend was in a Nursing home in Rothwell so after Bible study yesterday, at our Chruch in Deception Bay, we called in to see her. She is now 93 and her memory loss is profound. She recognized Lindsey but didn't even eventually recognize me. It was so sad to see this once very energetic, vibrant lady so diminished. Even ten years ago she moved and spoke at '100miles/hour'! So the 'conversation' revolv...ed around a few repeated phrases. Lindsey suggested that we read the Bible and pray, she said so clearly 'Yes, please.' So Lindsey read a few verses from Mark 1 and she started nodding and then joined in! I started to cry! God's word shone through all her mind's darkness! Her face lit up and she smiled! It was a very precious God given moment where God said clearly ' I will never leave you and my Word will endure forever'! I continued to cry as we left and I am crying as I write this. I felt and feel a mixture of sadness at seeing my dear friend like that but also of joy that she is and always will be 'safe in the palm of God's hand'. So be encouraged to learn Scripture because it stays etched in our minds and hearts. See more

01.01.2022 The following article is not strictly about a member of the 2/31st Battalion but is about a son of a 2/31st member. Although more than 50 years have elapsed since the event described it is just as poignant as it must have been when first written. It appeared in Teh Kallim, Vol 2, No 3, December 1967 The local association was shocked recently to learn of the death from wounds in Vietnam of Noel Stuart Harald, son of one of our prominent members, Dick Harald, Don Company, 2/31st Battalion.
