21.01.2022 A critical step to ensuring that a child’s intervention plan is meaningful is making sure the priorities are translated into functional goals. Grace Children’s Therapy provides the process for identifying priorities and care is taken to make sure the functional goals clearly reflect those priorities & intervention is directed towards achieving positive outcomes. Functional goals must also include a high level of specificity, addressing particular steps to learning a goal or a set of behaviors needed to achieve the goal. Occupational therapists are specifically trained in task analysis, which is the process of breaking a skill down into smaller, more manageable components & then teaching fundamental skills in smaller, measurable steps. As a dedicated team of occupational therapists, this is our core service.

Since starting with us a few weeks ago, Ashleigh has already captured the values & culture of the Grace Children’s Therapy ethos & already completed post graduate training in sensory processing disorder, praxis and ideational deficits. Ashleigh completed her Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy), graduating her final years with distinctions. Ashleigh has a deep understanding of the conduction and expectation of... the NSW education system from years K - 12 and is passionate about helping children fully participate in functional demands of school life. Ashleigh has extensive experience in fine motor, pre-handwriting, and handwriting skill development, and has assisted in the creation of resources used in a government-run school readiness group. Ashleigh has an interest and experience in sensory disorder therapy, ASD development, and promotion of play skills, and looks forward to assisting children to participate wholly in their interests. 01.01.2022 Fine motor skills are an integral part of completing everyday tasks such as brushing teeth, dressing, cutting, developing a functional pencil grip, tying laces and managing fasteners. The Learning Hands program is targeted towards 4 to 5 year olds and works towards developing their skills to use pencils, scissors, fasteners, eating and playing with a social small group setting.
