10.01.2022 Random Rubber Fact #13: Did you know that the raw material of natural rubber is actually white? Natural rubber comes from a South American tree 'Hevea Brasiliensis' which can grow up to 30 metres high and a metre wide. The rubber is tapped by removing slivers of bark to create a 'wound' which allows the sap to flow and be collected in a container below. This amazing plant is the only one which produces more rubbery latex each time it is cut, with a productive life of almost 35 years!
