10.01.2022 Continuous improvement to service delivery is of paramount importance at Gladstone Region Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service t/a Nhulun...du Health Service. Accustomed to considering new ways of delivering quality primary health care, staff were well equipped to modify their delivery model when the COVID-19 pandemic emerged earlier this year. Nhulundu Health Service implemented a broad range of measures designed to keep their staff, families and community safe during the pandemic. One of the first changes was the establishment of a Drive-Thru Flu Clinic. Telehealth consultations were very popular and an important measure to help prevent unnecessary exposure of patients and healthcare professionals to COVID-19. Ad hoc funding from the Department of Health saw an increase in service delivery to Nhulundu’s Aged Care clients. The funding was allocated to allied health therapy services, social support, personal care, domestic assistance, home maintenance and food services.
