25.01.2022 This year, we come together in spirit across Australia and New Zealand to remember our Anzac veterans and service members. Many of our people at GrainCorp are remembering their family members today. This is Nathan Edward Colton, who was 'Great Uncle Nathan' to our General Manager of Total Reward & HR Governance at GrainCorp, Jo Wear.... Jo says: "This photo was taken of Nathan in 1913 in his naval uniform, when he was 20 years old. His ship was part of the Gallipoli campaign and his naval record shows he was in active service on the ship at that time, aged just 22 years old. "He was lucky and made it home." Lest We Forget.

25.01.2022 This morning, GrainCorp CEO Robert Spurway and CFO Ian Morrison sat down to discuss the release of the company's FY20 financial results and to provide a general business update.

24.01.2022 Take a moment to absorb the pure happiness radiating from this photo GrainCorp Area Manager Michael Mick Grant captured the shot on a crop walk of the family property east of Moree in NSW.... The looks on the faces of Micks daughter Lucy, 12, and their nine-month old kelpie Rusty reflect exactly how Mick feels about that healthy oat crop theyre sitting in, with his first harvest on the horizon. Weve had our property for around three and a half years now and this is the first crop weve been able to grow, Mick said. We were actually talking about packing up and moving in February this year because of the drought but all of a sudden, we received over 100mm of rain practically overnight. Almost immediately, the future started to look very different and we havent even mentioned the idea of moving again! Lucy is a keen animal lover as is Michaels 13-year-old son Charlie, who saved up his pocket money and bought Rusty as a gift for Dad. Weve had all sorts of pets here over the years, Lucys a huge fan of dogs and horses especially, Mick says. Ive got a lot of love for those two and they clearly have a lot of love for each other, too.

23.01.2022 Did you know the number of cattle in Australia almost matches our national population? Meat & Livestock Australia projects the nation’s herd will rise to 25.2 million a head this year, recovering from a 20-year low driven by the drought. As we approach #Beef21 at Rockhampton next week, where the who’s who of Australia’s innovative beef industry gather to celebrate, learn and plan, our very own GrainCorp Feeds team are already packing their bags for the trip north.... Once there, they’ll talk endlessly about feed supplementation, a scientific system that supports farmers in achieving their production targets all year round. For our National Business Manager Jeremy Melloy, it's also a great opportunity to pick the brains of the industry's experts. https://bit.ly/3eAFDWD #GrainCorpFeeds #BeefAustralia #BeefWeek #BEEF2021

22.01.2022 Put this date in your diary Wednesday 1 July 2020 Thats when we fling open the doors (dramatically) for harvest casual applications at GrainCorp. Interested in joining us, but not sure what to expect? Claire Matthews can tell you.... Born and bred on a farm in Greenethorpe, NSW, Claire is studying nutrition at the University of Canberra and joins us in her summer holidays every year as a grain handler. I have worked for GrainCorp every harvest since graduating school in 2016, Claire says. This upcoming harvest will be my fifth consecutive year, working in the sample stand and weighbridge at the Greenethorpe site. Claire says heading fresh out of high school and into harvest has set her up for life. From chatting with growers and truck drivers to using technology to grade their grain, Ive gained so much confidence in taking on new tasks and working under pressure, she says. Theres early starts, hot days and work that flows into the evenings, only to get up and do it all again the next day and its absolutely worth it. Working with GrainCorp has provided me with lifelong skills and fantastic friendships along the way. Like we said harvest applications open 1 July 2020. Stay tuned.

22.01.2022 Who doesn't love a good glow-up These snaps were taken six months apart by GrainCorp grain handler Shayne O'Brien, from the top of our silos at Greenethorpe, NSW. "You're looking at the beautiful green pastures and cereal crops thriving in the midday sun on June 30, 2020 while on December 31, 2019, strong winds, hot temperatures and blinding dust create an eerie scene resembling the Mars landscape," Shayne says.... "Lets hope the weather will continue to bring the goods this year!"

21.01.2022 In celebration of #NAIDOCWeek in Australia, take some time out to meet Gamilaraay man and renowned artist, Darryl Ferguson, who is teaching our young rural workers to connect with country during Australia’s biggest crop harvest operations in over a decade. Originally from Collarenebri, NSW, Darryl who last worked a harvest season in 1997 is currently driving the water truck and helping the flow of operations at GrainCorp’s Walgett and Cryon sites. It’s a bit of a change o...f scene from his studio, where he spends his days using local timbers to create traditional weapons and tools, including coolamons and didgeridoos. While Darryl has made his mark on the international scene, he remains passionate about working with his local community to pass on the unique form of art and culture appropriate to the region. "There’s a lot of excitement among the local community because they’ve had such a long time between crops and I’ve come back to provide support and be a part of it. At the same time, I’m hoping to teach young people about being on country and getting experience connecting with the land as, ultimately, that’s where an appreciation of culture comes from. Find out more about Darryl’s fantastic work, here: https://www.facebook.com/walaaybaatimber/ #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #Harvest2020 #agriculture #Ausag Pictured (L to R): GrainCorp's Walgett Site Manager Nathan Krug and artist Darryl Ferguson

21.01.2022 Magpie magic at Goroke, Victoria After a long hold-up due to COVID-19, artist Geoffrey Carran has completed his stunning 900-square metre mural of a giant magpie, kookaburra and passing galah on our silos at Goroke. Geoffrey specialises in painting birds and we recently sat down with him to chat about his subject matter: ... For me, it’s important that I work from the rural locations that I’m in so that my subject matter brings art and cultural engagement to those communities, Geoffrey explains. The image of the magpie is particularly fitting given the name ‘Goroke’ is the local Aboriginal word for the bird. But I wanted to go even further than that. Not only does the magpie embody Goroke’s name, but it is looking out over the town, with its eyes reflecting everything in its view. Likewise, I’ve painted in the kookaburra’s eyes the landscape it is looking at, so that it, too, is one with the landscape. As a nation, we're very fortunate to have birdlife that has so much colour and personality and I really wanted to reflect that in this mural." Geoffrey's project joins our painted silos at Kaniva, Victoria, which were only completed last month. It’s been fantastic working Geoffrey Carran Artist, his fellow artist Rowena Martinich - Public Artist - Australia and West Wimmera Shire Council to bring another silo art project to 'flight'! : Bryan Hynes Hynesight Productions Will you visit on your next road trip?

20.01.2022 From Mackay in Central Queensland right down to Portland on Victorias south-west coast, rail is a vital link in the supply chain taking Australias grain to the world. Our Rail Commercial Manager, Alex Donnelly, expects a huge number of the rail-capable sites to be operating across our network this harvest. Rail is central to our export capability and strategy, says Alex. If harvest looks to be as big as ABARES is forecasting, well be running numerous export trainsets an...d some support shuttling trainsets. Shuttles are smaller trains that run from light branch line sites to larger sub-terminals, to make the grain accessible to the larger export trains. As the biggest single player in export grain on the east coast, a significant proportion of grain in the GrainCorp network moves by rail. There are probably close to 30 trainsets (locomotives and wagons) that will become available for exporting grain this harvest across the east-coast rail network, says Alex. For many years we have been working with the industry and government agencies on network improvements, and one focus has been increasing the capacity of the network. We are starting to see many rail lines, such as Narrabri to Walgett and Junee to Griffith, receiving investment to expand capacity by being able to take larger, heavier wagons. Were ramping up for a really good season!

20.01.2022 International Women's Day was celebrated around the world yesterday, with a theme of 'Each for Equal'. This day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. We asked our people across GrainCorp what the day means to them. #internationalwomenday2020 #IWD2020 #eachforequal #genderequality #womenleaders #ourpeople

20.01.2022 Harvest has settled in on the east coast of Australia, but what about in the west? WA growers have had a stop-start affair since October thanks to the weather, but the action is starting to heat up now. Kylie Rowe took these amazing photos harvesting wheat on her property near Mullewa, WA ... Fingers crossed the rain keeps at bay and we see more blue skies for our WA growers this harvest #harvest2020 #agriculture #harvestaustralia #harvest #ausfarmingappreciation #ausag

19.01.2022 Some fantastic photographs from growers getting the crop in across Australia this year. Got any of your own to add? #plant20 #ausag

18.01.2022 Not only has the ultra-rare pink supermoon been a feature of the night sky this week, but so too have our silos in the small township of Donald, in Victoria They were recently lit up as part of a broader community effort to attract visitors to the town. Happy moon-gazing! ... : GrainCorp Grain Handler, Terrence Russell

18.01.2022 Looks like winter seeding is well and truly underway! Early rain has led to a positive outlook for the season ahead on both the west and east coasts of Australia and our teams are raring to go. Grower Services Manager Chela Lamond reports some early starters in WA have been going since March, mainly with oats, barley, pulses and some canola going into the ground.... "Most are feeling confident about the season with the early rain, a good knock down of the weeds (which has been missing the last two seasons with dry starts) and taking advantage of some historically high grain prices. "This Bonnie Rock farmer (pictured on the tractor) started their program last week, many more will kick off in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile on the east coast, our teams are outloading fertiliser at record rates to keep up with demand as a wet winter is looking highly likely. Port Kembla Site Manager Brendan Moss says the break in conditions was a welcome change. The rain has lead to farmers gaining confidence in their subsoil moisture profiles and theyre very hopeful theyll get a good crop this year." Our teams might be inside or social distancing at the moment but they are gearing up for a fantastic season ahead fingers crossed. : Kim Graham and Brendan Moss

17.01.2022 A silo site to see at Kaniva, Victoria! After three weeks of hard work, the art installation at our closed site at Kaniva is officially complete Working 12 hour days, 7 days a week, artist David Lee Pereira has finished up his vibrant masterpiece of an Australian hobby falcon and sun orchids endemic to the region.... I wanted to paint images significant to Kaniva and that reflect on the rare beauty of the landscape and uniqueness of the Little Desert, David explains. The sun orchids only bloom for a few weeks in Spring and don't grow anywhere else in the world a reminder of their rarity and, without more conversations about conservation of our native flora and fauna, they will disappear. Meanwhile, the Australian hobby is a symbol of the resilience and strength of our community a totem in response to 2020 and the pandemic. It’s been fantastic to work with Authority Creative, David Lee Pereira art and West Wimmera Shire Council on another iconic silo art mural. Keep an eye out for more to come! #graincorpsiloart #graincorpsiloarttrail #siloart #siloarttrail #siloartvictoria #community

15.01.2022 In case you missed it... GrainCorp hit the small screen over the weekend on ABC Landline's feature ''Going With the Grain'. We're excited to be 'clearing the decks' in preparation for a potentially big crop on the east coast of Australia, so it was great to welcome Tim Lee and the crew to our sites in Murtoa, VIC and Barellan, NSW. Of course, a big crop requires a big workforce to manage it, so stay tuned for an update on our harvest recruitment program...

15.01.2022 All hail the young drone king of the Darling Downs! These pics were snapped on grower Jason Charles property at Cambooya, about 150km west of Brisbane. But they werent snapped by Jason they were taken by his nine-year-old son, William.... William was working with the drone when we were harvesting, and he ended up taking these photos. He loves it," Jason said. Hes had a fascination with finding and collecting all the different types of bugs on our farm since he was a toddler. Hes also a mean drummer and loves singing 50s and 60s music in our band. Along with his dad Raymond, wife Emma and four beautiful children, Jason grows sorghum, wheat, onions, pumpkins and forage on 486 hectares of a property that's been in the family since 1981. Jason and Raymond are finishing up harvesting their summer sorghum crop, which they planted on a lower seed count per hectare to manage the dry. Winter harvest will be wheat, but Jason needs another good bout of planting rain to substitute for irrigation, given water restrictions have cut their allocation by 40%. And as for William? When hes older, he wants to be an agronomist. We reckon hes off to a great start.

14.01.2022 The summer crop has had a good soaking on Queensland's Darling Downs over the last week While the rain hasn't helped getting this #sorghum crop off, it's good news for many growers in the area who are several months out from harvesting. As our Site Manager Grahame Sutton, based at Brookstead, said: "The rain is better late than never!"... #summercrop #sorghumharvest

13.01.2022 The spread of COVID-19 is affecting many aspects of our daily lives. At GrainCorp, our first priority is the health and safety of our people. Were also working hard to ensure minimal disruption to our supply chains, so that we can continue to deliver for our customers.... Were pleased to receive clarity from the Federal Agriculture Minister David Littleproud MP, who yesterday announced Australias food production and supply chain will not be affected by coronavirus shutdowns. Feeding the world is a huge responsibility, perhaps now more than ever, and meeting this challenge is what drives us to improve and evolve. Our people across Australia, Canada, China, Germany, India, New Zealand, UK and Ukraine are working hard to meet increased customer demand while staying safe. Were really proud to be part of an industry responding so effectively to a crisis. Please stay safe and well, and dont forget to wash your hands.

12.01.2022 This week we welcomed the MV SIDARI, taking on canola at our port in Geelong. Our teams brought grain accumulated from 13 sites across our network via road and rail, as well as harvest canola from the local Geelong area, to be exported to China. All while complying with strict hygiene and social distancing rules to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.... Were proud of how our people on the ground have kept our supply chain operating effortlessly through the peak period of the COVID-19 pandemic. It reinforces the belief that our supply chains across the whole of east coast Australia will adapt successfully and power ahead during harvest, while keeping safe everyone who works at or comes to our sites.

11.01.2022 Its a classic saying Not all heroes wear capes. Lately, its become clear that a lot of them wear scrubs and masks. 09.01.2022 The search for new grain markets is never-ending and often takes our international team to the four corners of the world. This week, we've got our eyes on Myanmar. The MVS Candy bulk carrier is currently waiting to berth at Geraldton, Western Australia, to take on 25,000 tonnes of wheat.... She will be in port for up to five days while loading, then arrive 10-12 days later in Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar. Thats the journey but the arrival is the tricky bit. The narrow entrance to the Yangon River is a treacherous and shallow stretch of water, with sand bars and fast-flowing currents. The tidal range (the distance between low and high water) exceeds six metres, twice a day. This means we can only load three of the five holds to max capacity and will need to wait for high tide at the mouth of the Yangon River. Well then get her safely over the sand bars and discharge at the impressively modern International Bulk Terminal Thilawa (pictured).

09.01.2022 As part of our #NAIDOC2020 celebrations, meet Gamilaraay man Guddoo Shepherd at 72 years of age, he has come out of retirement to join GrainCorp for his 13th harvest season Having first worked with GrainCorp in the 80s which led to a 12-year stint with the company Guddoo has returned to our Merrywinebone site, in Northern NSW, as it braces for a bumper harvest. Guddoo is well recognised for his outstanding contributions to Aboriginal education, heritage and culture i...n the Collarenebri community. We recently caught up with him as he supervised over 2000mt of faba beans loading onto a train bound for our Carrington silos at Newcastle. When we asked why he came out of retirement for harvest this year, his answer: I got a bit bored at home. We’re proud to welcome him back for another harvest and celebrate his achievements during NAIDOC Week #NAIDOCWeek #NAIDOC2020 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #Harvest2020 #agriculture #Ausag

08.01.2022 With COVID-19 safety measures in place and our people adapting brilliantly to the ever-changing circumstances, our CEO Robert Spurway is confident that GrainCorp is ready for the upcoming winter crop harvest.

08.01.2022 "Harvest: It's our Bathurst 1000." Maintaining a receival network spanning the length and breadth of Australia's east coast grain-growing regions takes some doing. Just ask our National Maintenance Manager, Tim Smith. ... Hes currently overseeing more than 6000 maintenance jobs as the countdown to #harvest20 begins. "Maintenance never stops," he says. "As soon as harvest is over, our work begins again to prep for next harvest. "Grain can be a humbling commodity to move. "It varies in how it behaves from season to season and is extremely abrasive on anything it contacts. "We're currently moving our mobile grain stacking fleet across the country to set up for action. "Up to 180 of these moves can occur in a big season, all involving cranes assisting the maintenance teams to dismantle the machines before being loaded onto trucks for delivery to the next location. "We have fitters, welders, diesel mechanics and electricians at the ready and we also work with contractors from our local communities." All in a year's work!

06.01.2022 Great photos, Tianna Make sure you tag us in your #harvest2020 pics, we love seeing them!

06.01.2022 It’s been devastating to see the impacts of recent heavy rain and flooding in NSW and QLD, but equally inspiring to see people come together and support each other. Our teams are pitching in with brooms, shovels, pressure cleaners and pumps to help those affected where possible - including this brilliant bunch at Moree, NSW. Area Manager and Moree local Mick Grant says everyone has been sticking together and helping out. ... We’ve been working with local council, SES and residents who have all come together to clean sheds and houses and lift furniture back down. By the time we’re done, Moree will be shiny once again! Well done legends and stay safe.

06.01.2022 Do you know about our Foods business in New Zealand? The opening of the trans-Tasman bubble between Australia and New Zealand is an important day for GrainCorp, especially our Foods business, which operates three refineries and processing plants across the two nations. : GrainCorp's Johnson Chen captured this feel-good moment of a sunset over our East Tamaki refinery, in Auckland, just after the borders opened and said: ... We’re looking forward to re-uniting with our colleagues, friends and family across the ditch! Happy and safe travels everyone! #Asharedpassion #ourpeople

05.01.2022 It's a happy Friday indeed for GrainCorp Commercial Analyst Arthur Simpson and his grandfather, Thomas 'Bomber' Moxham. These before-and-after shots (featuring Dude the doggo) show how quickly dust can turn to delight on the family's property at Mullengudgery, near Nyngan, 570km north-west of Sydney. "When I visited at Christmas, the place was devoid of moisture," Arthur says.... "Daily stock feeding was the name of the repetitive game, with dust storms being more common than we wouldve liked. "Now we've had rain, the countryside has done a 180, with extensive ground cover and oat and barley crops off to a great start. Arthurs uncle, Tom, manages the property, which has been in the family since 1923. He runs Merinos and grows barley, oats and occasionally wheat. "My brother and I visited again recently to see the turnaround for ourselves and everyone is all smiles now," Arthur says. We're looking forward to progress reports from Dude as the season progresses.

05.01.2022 While snow and rain have brought their challenges, we’re still on track to complete extensive upgrades to our Berrybank site, in Victoria, in time for this year’s harvest. Three new grain bunkers, a weighbridge and a new truck entrance are almost complete and will boost our bunker storage capacity from 70,000 tonnes to 130,000 tonnes an increase of 85%! Have you seen our progress?

04.01.2022 GrainCorp’s ‘Grandfather of Harvest,’ Donnie Krug, turns 80 today Donnie works at our site in Walgett, NSW, alongside his son, Nathan Krug, and is helping to manage one of Australia's biggest harvests in over a decade. He joined GrainCorp in 1974 and has worked with the company on and off for 45 years, spending most of that time as a team leader between Inverell, Moree and Boggabilla, known as NSW’s Golden Triangle.... Now going on 80, he’s come out of retirement to help with harvest and we’re pretty sure he’s our oldest and most prestigious harvest worker to date. Not only is he driving machinery, rebuilding bulldozers, constructing sheds and shovelling grain, but he’s also providing some seasoned experience and advice to our younger staff experiencing their first season. This is one of the biggest harvests I have seen since the ‘80s, so I was not going to miss it, Donnie says. I love working; it keeps my brain and body going. When you get older, you need to keep things working. Nathan says his father’s support during this year’s harvest has been invaluable to all. It’s not very often that you get the privilege to work with your Dad for this long it’s overwhelming and I’m extremely proud of him being out here. Happy birthday Donnie a local legend! #happybirthday #agriculture #harvest2020 #harvestaustralia #harvest #ausfarmingappreciation #ausag

03.01.2022 Did you know today is World Environment Day? The theme this year is biodiversity - a call to action to combat the accelerating species loss and degradation of the natural world. Biodiversity describes the variety of life on Earth, including the 8 million plant and animal species on the planet, the ecosystems that house them, and the genetic diversity among them.... We were stoked to spot this image of a rare Peregrine Falcon taking in the view from our grain terminal at Port Kembla in NSW, thanks to the marine safety camera tower. GrainCorp is committed to environmental #sustainability in our business. We're analysing our energy and water usage, as well as waste and carbon emission generation in order to improve our efficiencies and reduce our carbon footprint. We're broadening our business-wide Environmental Management System to ensure best practice compliance across all of our sites in Australia and New Zealand. This World Environment Day, we encourage you to learn how all living things on #Earth are connected in the web of life and how we can act #ForNature. 03.01.2022 It's been a week for news from GrainCorp - and there's more to come this weekend! We hosted the ABC Landline crew at our sites in Murtoa, VIC and Barellan, NSW as part of their upcoming story on the winter crop harvest ahead of us. Be sure to tune in to Landline this Sunday for the season outlook!

02.01.2022 Preparation is the key to success! We're already looking ahead to harvest and our team at Burren Junction in NSW are busy unrolling, checking and repairing over 100 tarps, ahead of what will hopefully be a big season for the region. The team are maintaining a social distance of course and as you can see, it's not hard - some tarps like this one stretch a whopping 61 metres by 30 metres.... It takes the entire team to pull one tarp out and check over it, but it's worth it - those 100 tarps will cover up to 500,000 metric tonnes of grain during harvest. This is us for the next two weeks - how's your preparation going?

02.01.2022 The winter crop harvest is a special summertime experience in Australia and at GrainCorp, its our favourite time of the year. http://www.graincorp.com.au/careers/harvest-recruitment We meet all sorts of people as part of our harvest casual army students, backpackers, locals and plenty of Aussie wanderers. ... We see familiar faces every year but perhaps none more so than Daryl and Lyn Coleman these roaming lovebirds have joined GrainCorps harvest army every year since 2012 and have worked across nine of our sites in three states! Lyn works on the weighbridge and on the bunkers, while Daryl helps with unloading trucks, tarping and loader operations. Living the nomadic dream in their caravan, the couple applies for positions in whichever state they happen to be travelling in at the time. So far theyve ticked off: - Emerald, Moura, Dingo and Duaringa in Queensland; - Tocumwal, Barellan and Henty West in NSW; and - Willaura and Hamilton in Victoria. The events of 2020 have halted their travels for now but theyre looking forward to working where their wheels are currently resting. They said: Each site has had a friendly vibe and gives you different experiences, with new people to work with every time. Were looking forward to a great season this year, things are looking great with plenty of rain received and hopefully more to come. Join Lyn, Daryl and hundreds of others on the harvest trail this year and apply for a casual position at GrainCorp.

02.01.2022 ONE MONTH TO GO In exactly one month today, our new greenfield site at Yamala in Central Queensland will be open for business! The works are on track to open for grain intake by 1 September, with the rail loader due to be operational by the end of October.... Project Manager Dane McKinnon sent a drone up recently to capture the progress and says its exciting to see years of hard work come to fruition. Everything is coming together now and its exciting to see the site taking shape as part of CQ Inland Port," he said. Weve had a few challenges to work through along the way, but thats all part of being in the construction game. Stage 2 works on the site started in May, building civil foundations, a sample stand, two weighbridges, storage shed/workshop and a chemical shed. Recently, the concrete walls for three of the four 30,000 tonne grain bunkers were delivered and really provided some shape for the site. The rail outload facility construction got well underway this month and will boast a bin capacity of 2000 tonnes, with a load rate of 500 tonnes per hour. We can't wait to welcome growers at Yamala this harvest.
