22.01.2022 Yep thats a breast pump This post may be a little late for World Breastfeeding Week - you can thank 40 minute baby daytime catnaps for that - however I still wanted to do a post as its such a big part of my day in between client work right now. Literally my day is:... Breastfeed Baby playtime Work, when nap time starts And thats on a 3-hourly rotation until Daddy gets home and the little one goes down for the night. Back in the early days (yep Im talking about a month ago ) it was breastfeeding followed by the pump (due to presumed low supply and low weight gain so needed top-ups) - which was a ball of fun when youre home alone. Try soothing a baby with a double pump on Hence my youve just got to laugh about it look in this photo And then on days Morgan was home, Id breastfeed and then jump on the pump at my desk to get work done #multitaskingmama so Morgan could then give Albie the freshly pumped leftover milk in bottle form At the end of the day, whether its feeding your baby or marketing your website, theres no one best way to do things, youve got to do what works for you. You do you boo Even Google advocate John Mueller recently said when talking about SEO: its not that every site has to do the same thing, but rather there are multiple ways to get there and you dont have to blindly follow just one ranking factor to get to the end result. And thats how you tie in SEO with breastfeeding PS: Thanks for the awesome BF-friendly dress @pandabryan, designed and made by the wonderful @naturenurse1

22.01.2022 Love it Google

22.01.2022 We have news Did you notice I said we there and not I? Yep the GCD team is expanding Now theres 5 of us (swipe across to see the pic that we managed to get all 5 of us in ).... 3 years ago when we started thinking about running our own business our vision was to operate a successful wife & husband run boutique SEO and Google Ads consultancy which business owners can trust with their search marketing. And now were doing it After juggling mama life and running the business over the last 4 months and turning away so many lovely business owners because my hands were full, Morgan has decided to give up his full time work and join us so we can help more businesses be found on Google To be honest its not a huge difference as hes always been a part of the business being my sound board and proof reader for everything. But now its offical. So last week we had a bit of a celebration and he got to press the Champagne button During his paternity leave he worked on a project for a client who was so happy about the quality that he said I needed to give Morgan a pay rise Stay tuned to learn more about my BP (business partner) and if you have any questions for him, drop them below

21.01.2022 So the button works Exciting news coming soon

21.01.2022 Dont forget about SEO for Bing! Okay so we know to Bing it is never going to be as popular as to Google it however this smaller search engine shouldnt be ignored entirely when it comes to your SEO. In fact, 11 billion searches are made worldwide on Bing every month (thanks for the stat @wordstream) ... How do you know if your website visitors and/or purchases/leads/converters are finding your website through Bing? 1 Go to Google Analytics 2 Under Acquisiton and All Traffic click on Source/Medium and youll see bing/organic Et voila! Now while were talking about the Microsoft owned search engine, Id also recommend you: Set up your free Bing Webmaster Tools account (if you have Google Search Console set up - which you should btw - then you can easily verify it) Set up your free Bing Places listing (Bings version of Google My Business and like the above you can import your data directly from Google My Business ) If youre on Wordpress, download the new Bing URL Submissions plugin that automatically indexes content in the search results immediately (just released today ) While the above plugin is only available to Wordpress right now, theyre hoping to bring it to other CMSs in the future. So what are you waiting for? Get your Bing on Am I making it sound cool at all?

21.01.2022 I love being at the forefront of whats happening with Google updates. Check out who spotted this Google update first

20.01.2022 Since the first moment I found out I was pregnant with Albie, I starting thinking about and putting plans into place for how I was going to keep my business running during and after the pregnancy. It was important to me to ensure my clients continued to get only the best service and felt their progress with their SEO and Google Ads wasnt going to slip. Part of this was looking into tasks that I could pre-plan and schedule - especially for the time over Albies birth. As I ha...d no idea how that would go. This is how I came across OneUp which is a scheduling software for social media, but also for Google My Business posts I have grown to really enjoy using the tool which is why I wanted to share more about it on my blog recently. Let me know if you have any questions!

20.01.2022 If youre in the tourism industry, add this one to your calendar. Its free too!

12.01.2022 I got some new glasses this week Fun fact about me... I was born with a congenital squint which meant I had to have an eye operation when I was a baby to help balance out my eye muscles. I then had to have my good eye patched to help my weaker one. Which meant I walked into a few things so my family has told me I wear glasses for comfort as my weaker eye gets tired quickly, however I can still pass the eye test at the drivers licensing agency without my glasses. Despite t...his, I still wear them driving. Safety first right Is there something you want to know about me or my business? Let me know below

12.01.2022 In most cases, SEOs need 4 months to a year to help your business first implement improvements and then see potential benefit." - Maile Ohye from @google With SEO, results do take time as stated by the big G however as you work on little bits and pieces over time, you should start to see website traffic improve and sales/enquires too. SEO isnt a one off task, which is why I work with businesses on a monthly basis to help show them the benefits of SEO over time.... Im in it for the long game. Just like I am with my little mate pictured above For those hanging out for an Albie update, hes actually about 4.5 months now and is the little ray of sunshine in our iso lives right now He loves smiling and laughing, sleeps like a legend at night (most of the time ) and is a fiend for avocado, banana and berries

11.01.2022 Apparently yesterday was Black Cat Appreciation Day (theres a day for everything isnt there!) and its safe to say we appreciate our Cat-mmunications Officer very much. Learn more about Crackle here >> https://grandcrudigital.com.au/about/

11.01.2022 In the last year Google search growth for the flavoured alcoholic beverages retail category has grown by 400% in Australia Ive got your attention now dont I with the mention of alcohol It is Friday after all right This means people are searching much more for things like espresso martini and white claw (this one was new to me - I had to Google it myself - its a spiked sparkling water aka 5% alcohol, 100 calories, 2g of carbs and gluten free ).... While not as exciting, the retail category for neck gaiters has grown by 800% - which is really no surprise considering the big C. So how do I know all this info? I used Googles Rising Retail Categories tool which was launched earlier in the year to help us marketers and business owners understand consumer behaviour better at this crazy time. Its the first tool of its kind as you can see what is trending in search this year, month or even in the latest week. The data is updated daily and it shows us the fast-rising retail categories on Google Search, the locations where theyre trending and the queries associated with them. See what I mean in the images below. Its a pretty exciting tool for people like me and Ive found it as a great source of inspiration for new blog post ideas for clients Have you checked it out yet? And also, whats your favourite alcohol beverage? So not SEO related, but hey its Friday #seo #marketingtips

10.01.2022 My email newsletter will be hitting inboxes today or tomorrow (once the business partner has proof read it). If youre keen to hear the latest updates, make sure to sign up here: https://mailchi.mp/518cf04f0aaf/grand-cru-digital

06.01.2022 Did you know Grand Cru Digital is a Google Partner agency? Firstly, being a Google Partner is nothing to do with SEO. It's solely to do with Google Ads It took me nearly a year after starting my business to earn my Google Partner badge in 2019 and I have held onto it ever since.... The Google Partner badge is earned when an agency demonstrates Google Ads expertise. This includes having up to date certifications, meeting a certain level of performance based on revenue growth and client retention alongside managing a certain level of ad spend. Here's some fun facts for you about Google Advertising: 2% CTR is the average click-through-rate of paid ads (stat via WordStream) 2:1 return is what businesses generally make on average via Google Ads (stat via Google) 41% of clicks are on the top 3 ranking ads on the first page of Google (stat via WordStream) 65% of consumers will click on a paid ad when ready to purchase (stat via WordStream) Do any of these stats surprise you? Or do you have a question about Google Ads? Drop them below or send us a DM

06.01.2022 Ive got an intern helping with my Google Ads health checks today. I think hes taking it all in Currently here at GCD we are helping 10 businesses advertise on Google. These businesses run a variety of different types of ads from your normal search ads to image ads and video ads. Its pretty exciting I hope you have a great Monday and if you have any Google Ads questions, drop them below ... #mumsinbusiness

05.01.2022 It's reporting time Yep it's that time of the month when Morgan and I put our heads down and dig into Google Analytics big time. We spend a good hour on each of your clients accounts and review + analyse the stats for the previous month. I love it! I am such a data geek at heart. Plus, it's so cool to be able to see how months and months of hard work pays off. As it's so true with SEO that you don't typically see the fruits of your labour until months and maybe even years d...own the track. Things like a pandemic also don't help. So comparing April 2021 to April 2020 is not a realistic comparison for many businesses because how people used the internet and searched on Google completely changed this time last year. So what do we include in the GCD end of months reports? Here's a taster: We cover all the things we did and implemented (in detail) We cover the most important actions website visitors took on the site (e.g. did they purchase, enquire, call, email, etc) We cover how many website visitors they got and where they come from (Google, social media, another website, an email newsletter, etc) We look at if more of the website visitors are on mobile or desktop alongside where they are located We review how the Google My Business listing is performing (how many views, how many clicks, etc) We try to provide real insights, handwritten and explained by us that are digestible and help our clients get their businesses in front of more eyes and make more money. Do you have a question about Google Analytics and understanding your stats? Let us know below and we'll do our best to help out

04.01.2022 It’s never too late to support a small business One of my favourite ways to do this is to leave Google My Business reviews for those businesses that I love and enjoy shopping/dealing with. When was the last time you left a Google review?... Go on, make someone’s day. Trust me, us small business owners get so excited when they read positive feedback about our businesses #supportsmallbusiness

04.01.2022 It looks like I better go get a turmeric latte today from my local cafe

02.01.2022 If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself." Henry Ford Happy birthday to the other half of Grand Cru Digital You may have only joined the business officially in August however you’ve been its #1 supporter from the get-go.... If you haven’t yet had the pleasure to meet this wonderful human being or deal with him over the phone/email, then here’s some fun things about him: He’s team Ford He can sew (and is better than me!) He’s a qualified Padi scuba diver He was born in Tauranga, New Zealand Have you met Morgan? What’s one of your favourite things about him? Or if you haven’t met him, do you have a question for him? Let us know below

02.01.2022 Its the keyword research tool to rule them all. Anyone can use it as its free and easy to understand. Are you ready for it? When researching keywords to optimise your website for Google, the best tool you can use in my opinion is Google! Yep the SERPs (search engine result pages) themsevlves ... Yes theres no data like average search volume per month, how competitive a term might be, etc etc. However its a great place to start when youre DIY-ing your SEO in my opinion. In fact when I am doing keyword research for a client, I will start and finish my research with Google. In between, I will use tools like the Google Keyword Planner, SEMRush, Google Search Console, Mozs Keyword Explorer and more. However Google is an integral part of my research process. So how can you use Google for your keyword research? Simply type in your products and/or services one at a time and analyse what shows up on the first page. I start by looking at the People also ask section (this is also a great spot to look for FAQs that you can answer on your pages too) as well as the Searches related to section at the bottom of the page. Once you come up with a keyword or set of keywords you think you want to target. Make sure you search for these (use an incognito or private browser window so your search history doesnt skew the data) and look at what pages are ranking for that search term. If they are similar businesses, then youre on the right track with your research. Then all you need to do is make sure your web page is super relevant and gives the searcher everything they could hope for when they are searching for that keyword. This will give you the best chance at nabbing that elusive #1 spot. When looking at the search results for your target keywords you should also look to see if: A video carousel is showing An image carousel is showing A feature snippet/knowledge pannel is showing A map pack is showing All the above offer extra opportunities to claim a spot on the first page and are big hints at what your page should include. Google is your friend

01.01.2022 Oh its so wineoclock at 5pm today! Or maybe 3pm.. well see what the day throws at me Im nearly 16 weeks into the mum and business life juggle. And oh what an adventure it has been! Some days Im floating on a cloud, its perfect and other days I am a shattered mess. The struggle is real! However since its No Cry Friday - a term I started in our house (even though that went out the window at about 3am this morning ) when Mr Albie was born - I want to share some of m...y highlights from the office this week with you I wrapped up my EOFY financials and its been my best year yet even though I spent 9 months of it pregnant and 3 months with a newborn I started a couple of work days after having a full 7 hours sleep as someone is occasionally sleeping through the night I implemented some metadata for a new website and theyre already ranking on the first page for some keywords they werent even in the top 100 for before One of my clients has already had over 100k of website visitors this month And then on the other hand there was all the poop, overtiredness cries and the cleaning for the rental inspection The hubby was amazing and did most of the cleaning for that How has your week been? Are you ready for a wine?
