24.01.2022 Team time! We weren’t sure if we would be celebrating as a team in 2020 so there were smiles aplenty at our Christmas Party. Jono bowled the best and took home the Grand Slam Champ trophy A huge thanks to Promote-It Trophy & Clothing Co. for making our inaugural champ trophy with - it will be hotly contested within our competitive team.... If you haven’t already, book into Highton Bowls Club Inc. for some barefoot bowls fun. Not only is the customer service on point but so too are the bowling tips.

22.01.2022 Meet Mitch! Mitch came to Grand Slam with a history of back pain that was hindering his ability to play cricket. After an assessment with physiotherapist Jesse, he joined our strength and stability classes regularly with an individual program to build not only strength, but also his mobility and motor control so that he was able to move better. ... Mitch's commitment to improving is to be credited, and is showing with his recent @geelongaddy write up! We are so happy that Mitch is back playing the game he loves, and doing so pain free! Our Strength and Stability classes include individualised components of functional strength training and pilates, based on a 1:1 assessment about your goals and needs. Let us help you get back doing what you love!

21.01.2022 Hamstring Strain Rehab The Hamstring is the most commonly injured region in fast paced sports and of concern, has a high re-injury rate, with one third of athletes going on to reinjure in the future (Comin, Malliaras, Baquie, Barbour, & Connell, 2013) (Orchard & Best, 2002). When rehabbing a hamstring injury, we suggest the best chance to ensure a successful recovery is to target both hip and knee dominant hamstring exercises in the realm of strength, capacity and power w...hen appropriate. Mid-late stage rehab should also include eccentric based exercises as there is high quality research to suggest that reduced eccentric hamstring strength is a predictor of hamstring injury (Opar et al., 2015). Below Holly shows us some good examples of exercises which may constitute a hamstring rehabilitation program, yet as always, each case is individual and we strongly advise an appointment with one of our physios to decide which is the best approach for you.
