25.01.2022 There’s no scarier feeling than submitting an application, and then realising you’ve made a major typo. You know the feeling we’re talking about. When you’ve just crossed the finish line, and realised you haven’t checked if you’ve actually used the right form, or the character and word count. (Also, this might be a stomach-dropping moment for some of you: Word count does NOT equal character count. Heads up)... That’s why we recommend starting a grant application with plenty of time to spare. Need some help navigating the above? We’d love to help! DM us, or jump onto our FB group (we’re a super friendly bunch, we swear!) See more

22.01.2022 BUSINESS EVENTS GRANTS PROGRAM // What we know so far: Are you part of the $36 billion business events sector that’s had your operations grind to a hold due to Covid-19?... If you’re an Australian Business exhibiting an approved business meeting, convention, conference and incentives event in 2021, grants are available to cover up to 50% of your event cost (between $10,000 and $250,000). While guidelines are still being developed with the government and industry stakeholders, Austrade has said this opportunity is targeted toward larger multi-day business events that promote Australian Governments industry priorities and sectors. The goal is to not only support the business events industry itself, but to also maximise the contribution business events make to the recovery of the wider economy. Keep an eye on application opening dates: https://lnkd.in/g9ZiC9P

21.01.2022 Writers block - we've all been there! Staring at a blank grant application wondering what to write, how to fit your responses into the 100 word count limit, or trying to decide what to actually get funding for. It is something that every grant seeker faces at some point - so the good news you are not alone! But here's the thing, it doesn't need to be perfect from the beginning. You just need to start. The good ol saying progress over pe...rfection has never been truer. To help you out we are sharing our top 3 tips for managing writers block (or overwhelm)... 1. Step away from the keyboard and go old skool for a little while. Grab a big piece of blank paper and some coloured textas (yes you can use black but let's face it colours are way more fun) - and start mind mapping. Start to organise your thinking into little bubbles of information centred around the key ask. By doing this you will free up your mind and suddenly unearth the detail you need to head back to the keyboard and type away. 2. Bullet points. Here's a fact (and an insider tip), none of our experienced grant writers begin with full sentences. The first time they work their way through an application they will simply dot point their thoughts into the boxes and once they have the core info in they go back and start writing longer answers. 3. Never write directly into a smartform! We've said it before and will keep saying it - NOTHING BEATS CREATIVITY LIKE A SMART FORM! Yep.. Trying to write your answers with the constraints and pressure of a word count is a challenge for any of us. Always get your drafts happening in a google or word doc. This will not only help you to write more freely, it also means that you will avoid any mistakes happening in the actual form. Once you have the final draft you can copy it across to the form. We'd love to know? What are your best writing tips? See more

16.01.2022 RESILIENCE TO REINVENTION // One of the silver-linings emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic is the increasing recognition of the need to build back better - and more sustainably. We have an opportunity to readjust and reposition the economic, commercial and creative fundamentals of many of many of our industries - in a more ethical way. In the fast fashion industry in particular, as the long-term negative impact of the pandemic continues to take hold, the potential upside is... that changes to consumer behaviour are becoming clearer. Vogue has even noted that it anticipates a demand-side transformation of the industry - one fuelled by fashion consumer spending habits that are more discerning and principled. We're fortunate to be working with some incredible sustainability-driven businesses who are working at the forefront of this industry transformation. So here's our shout-out to the team at Ethical Made Easy! With a vision to foster a more sustainable future, the team behind Ethical Made Easy have created an online platform that connects businesses with consumers who believe in a better world. Ethical Made Easy is actively cultivating a culture that makes ethical shopping accessible and one where sustainable businesses are supported. We love supporting businesses navigate the grants game so they can continue stand on the sustainable side of our future. 14.01.2022 Gratitude Day was Monday, and well because we don't do things by half measure, we want to take time out this week to thank you guys. Because you make Grant’d what it is. Without our clients? We wouldn’t be the community we are today. There’d be no stories to share, no laughs over coffee while we get to know you and definitely no changed lives. Because you wouldn’t be there, changing the world one grant at a time. That’s why over the next... few weeks, we’d like to shine the spotlight on some of our clients and friends. As a just because. And a thank you for letting us be a chapter in your incredible story. First up is an old friend - PIA! If you haven’t heard of them, you should definitely scooch over to their IG - @poetryinaction (go on, we’ll wait). This powerhouse brings the power of poetry to the stage with innovative, modern performances, making poetry relevant to high school students across Australia and overseas. Also? They were our very first grants client. Yup, these guys were right there with us, hand in hand, on our very own first step. And while there are waaaaay too many favourite highlights to count, we’ll limit ourselves (and our IG wordcount) to these 2: We helped them win a combined $54,000 (!) from the Restore Hope Foundation and Matana Foundation to continue delivering PIA’s literacy program (called The Lilla Project) with Indigenous children in the deserts of remote Northern Territory We secured $30,600+ from the Vincent Fairfax Foundation, so that PIA could travel to rural and remote NSW while subsidising 1,800 tickets for students facing economic difficulties. And so much more! So when we say they’re all-round incredible people? We mean it from the bottom of our hearts. Thanks for doing what you do - we know Australia’s a better place because of it. 13.01.2022 GRANT'D TIP// Have you checked your council for Covid-19 related grants yet? If not, we definitely recommend getting amongst it! As an example, The Barossa Council has grants of up to $3,000 designed to support local small businesses and groups to survive and thrive during Covid-19. Community based organisations are also eligible to apply for up to $3,000. Outside of Covid-19 funding, you'll also find that many councils also operate annu...al grant rounds for community based organisations - so for those of you pursuing grants as an ongoing funding pillar, these are an incredibly useful addition to your yearly grants calendar! Of course, the grants on offer by your council [if any] will largely depend on the size of the region it services, and the needs of your community - but it's definitely worth checking out - and doing that is as easy as visiting your local council website and typing in 'grants' in the search bar! 12.01.2022 Just in case you haven’t already seen us raving about it, our last intake of the August Bootcamp wrapped up just 4 weeks ago. And the transformation that has happened for the bootcampers, from beginning to end? One word: Grant-changing. Watching these incredible folk overcome their roadblocks, craft their strategy to perfection and absolutely quash their overwhelm has been eye-opening.... The best part? Was seeing them all come together to support each other and provide guidance. (Two of our participants even met at the Bootcamp and are applied for a $50,000 joint business grant!) It was about learning that the grants are not just the end point. They are the start of the journey. The two biggest learnings we took away? Change is going to happen. Are you ready to show up for it? You can’t pour from an empty cup. Did shivers just go up your spine? ‘Cause they sure did for us. Psst. Here’s something that’s even more goosebump-inducing: until midnight tonight we are offering twice the impact! Secure you spot and get 56 days of bootcamp! That’s twice the mentoring, coaching and support. Bootcamp kicks off on 12 October. Get clicking! https://www.grantd.com.au/28-days-to-nailing-your-grant-app

12.01.2022 #truth! Yesterday I was speaking with one of my previous team members. The few times we had chatted over the last few months he didn’t seem himself. Work pressures, covid, family - you know the usual life pressures were thrown around and we moved on. After a month or so of not speaking I reached out again. This time the other things had ironed themselves out - but he still didn’t seem ‘ok’. So I made the what at times may feel bold decision to point blank ask - Are you ok? ...I went on to say the past few months I’ve noticed he hadn’t been himself, I sensed something more was going on etc etc. He then admitted to having a long history with depression. I grew up with depression in my household so I understand it well, which enabled us to have a good chat about it. 45 minutes later we were chit chatting about other things and he got off the phone feeling energised and dare I say hopeful. We interact everyday with people who we know well and others who are strangers, and al too often in the chaos of life we ignore the signs. Or perhaps we just don’t know what to say. Truth is I suspected this for a few months but just didn’t ask. Now I wish I asked sooner, as it opened the door to a deeper and much more meaningful discussion. It also allows me as a business owner to understand my team more fully, and know how to manage and respond to them. With mental health on the rise, and set to worsen as the true impact of Covid hits in the coming months once government support eases we need to ask and act more often. Don’t wait to check in on someone, don’t be scared to ask. And if you are feeling like things aren’t ok - know your are not alone. If you need help or to chat contact @lifelineaustralia @reachout_aus @beyondblueofficial @kidshelplineau @miss_mental0 See more

12.01.2022 Here’s a quick tip for your Tuesday morning: Remember that you are writing for a reader who knows nothing about your project but at the same time, assume that the reader has very limited time and a short attention span. A clear and concise submission that clearly connects the dots to the funding priorities is what funding bodies are looking for in a winning submission.... Our top 3 tips for a succinct submission: Strategy // Plan out what you want to say ahead of time, and write to these prompts. Cut the weasel words // Your submission is your opportunity to answer why you?. To write with confidence, avoid words like maybe, might, and could. Avoid redundancy // If the crux of two lines are the same, cut one of them. Powerful words help, but redundancy hinders. And there you have it! Winning submission, here you come! PS - want other game-changing tips? DM us about our upcoming bootcamp. See more

12.01.2022 Update Up to 12,000 hard-hit Victorian businesses affected by lockdowns amid the COVID-19 pandemic now have another chance to secure the $10,000 economic lifeline originally offered through the Business Support Fund announced last March. This comes as a scathing final report tabled in Parliament yesterday attributed the complex application system, understaffing and minor errors in applications as factors that led to thousands of businesses not receiving this lifeline funding... for their business. The team at Grant'd hope that the $120 million in funding that will be repaid to approximately 12,000 Victorian businesses goes some way in supporting these small businesses to rebuild and recover and provides business owners with a small sense of victory in these difficult times. Well done to everyone who rallied for this change to occur. https://www.9news.com.au//db283b47-6a7a-42b8-8b16-76fa38c8

11.01.2022 Want to know a fact about ‘elite’ grantseekers? Research shows that they hit the tippy-top of the grant ladder, because they use the knowledge they have on grant applications, know the organisation they work for back-to-front, and then scale the application scope accordingly. They focus on:... Finding the right grant Nailing the eligibility criteria Data sourcing Budgeting ...all this, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Feeling the overwhelm? Maybe you’re thinking, how on earth am I meant to learn all that before I apply for my grant?! Don’t worry. We’re here to help (in a multitude of ways). We go over ALL of the above in our 28 Day Bootcamp (Psst. Next intake closes on 11 October!). And (the best bit) until tomorrow night at midnight we are offering everyone who registers the chance to double their impact and work with us for 56 days (that's a bonus 28 days). Hurry though this offer ends on Wednesday at midnight! Want more info, or not sure it's right for you? Let us help. Slide into our DMs and we’ll sort you right out! See more

11.01.2022 Want to start applying for grants, but have no idea where to look? Don’t stress. We have the answer for you. Say hello to the Grant’d Team (hi, that’s us!). 11.01.2022 $135,000,000,000. That's the value to Australia's economy that has been estimated to arise if we boosted the number of female entrepreneurs to parity with men. Clearly, an investment in a female founded business is an investment in our collective future.... At Grant'd, we come across innovations and ideas that have enormous potential to challenge the status quo and create disruptive change every single day. From artificial intelligence used to revolutionise the world of fashion and styling, state of the art technology platforms keeping children safe, through to innovations that connect conscious consumers with ethical brands. No question about it, we’re seeing impactful, scalable ideas of the highest calibre emerging from women everywhere. And yet, in continuously monitoring the funding landscape to find and secure support for these incredible innovators and their innovations, we often find ourselves strongly disappointed with the limited scope of funding available to support female-founded startups looking to launch and scale their businesses. So, we're calling for change. We're calling for the Australian Government to play a greater role in reducing the $300 billion funding gap that exists globally for female-founded businesses. You can join our call for change via the link below: http://chng.it/8zzPRqN4FD Thank you everyone!

10.01.2022 To our community of incredible thought leaders, changemakers, social entrepreneurs This year has been more challenging than most - to say the very least. Everyone we meet has been fighting a battle. One that we may share collectively or one that we know nothing about. If you're sensing that someone you care about may be struggling, withdrawn or just not quite themselves - trust your gut and act on it - ask them how they are.... And don’t stop there - make time to listen, encourage action and check in. Your empathy, your time, your compassion - could change, or even save a life. But remember, before you can look out for others, you also need to look out for yourself, and that’s ok. As yourself: How am I doing right now? Am I prepared to fully listen? Here at Grant’d, we’ll be spending some time re-calibrating our operations with a rejuvenated focus on wellbeing - regularly checking in with one another, encouraging regular breaks and solidifying our workplace culture of compassion and flexibility. We encourage you to do the same. #mentalhealth #leadership #mentalhealthawareness #wellbeing #ruok

10.01.2022 Your sweet spot and how to find it.. The more we work with changemakers, the more we realise why grants education is key. An incredible project idea is one thing. An incredible project contained in a proposal that is able to strategically highlight how it aligns with the funding body is another. ... And you're not alone if you're struggling to communicate this alignment confidently. That's where we come in . Here's a sneak peak of a few questions we ask our Grants Accelerator participants to consider when locating their sweet spot. What are the grant maker priorities? What is the purpose of their grant making? What have they funded before? What elements of your project matches the funding preferences? How is your project similar (and different) to those funded before? What purpose will the funding play? Wanting to really knuckle down on your grants program this year? Our self-paced, Grants Accelerator course has got you sorted: Check it out here: https://bit.ly/3bOxxda

09.01.2022 Who run the the world? Girls. But you know who’s also been disproportionately affected by COVID, and even just everyday life before that? Women. In almost every age group affected by COVID, woman are affected by a higher percentage. Woman account for a significant part of the workforce, yet rates of unemployment have never been higher. And don't get us started on the fact that less than 3% of funding in Australia is for female founders!... We think that if you’re in a position to act to help, the time is now. We wouldn’t be who we are, if not for the woman in our lives. And in our IG family, we wouldn’t even be where we are without the love and support of every one of the ladies here. That’s why we’d like to shine the spotlight on our clients, Ultimate Girls Week Away. They hold annual retreats with the goal of creating extraordinary experiences for woman all over the globe, giving them permission to be themselves while learning about different cultures, connecting with inspirational female leaders, and providing a supportive community that celebrates what it means to be a woman. Like most woman, they’ve been hit hard by COVID, but aren’t going to let that stop them. We can’t wait to help them carve their path through the grants industry. Watch this space. Big things are going to happen. Image @stylemagazines @ultimate_girls_week_away See more

09.01.2022 Friday Morning FYI: Sector trends and current affairs matter in the grants landscape - and may affect your success rates. We all saw this with the growth of grants in response to Covid-19 and the bushfires. Right now there is a huge focus on digital health innovations and rebuilding arts and tourism!... The amount of funding in the domestic violence, climate change, Indigneous sectors are also currently on the rise due to sector trends. So even if you aren’t in a space that aligns with a sector trend right now? Take heart. Your time will come. See more

07.01.2022 In this last year, there has been a lot of media attention on gratitude. And while we should focus on the big picture, and look ahead to our futures, sometimes it’s genuinely helpful for our mental health to take a step back and think of the little things in life to be thankful for. Sitting in the sun. The smell of fresh coffee. A loved one’s laughter. Being able to jump into the ocean.... As for me? (That’s Tamara here!) I’m grateful for the stories. Yours, mine, ours and all the ones we haven’t heard yet. Without these words we have, crafted or otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to take what’s behind the scenes, and make it your future. And more importantly, I wouldn’t have been able to connect with so many incredible people. So today, on World Gratitude Day, I’d like to reach out to all of you reading this and say: thank you for sharing your story with me. I hope I get to be part of the next chapter. See more

07.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS // Today we recognise the extraordinary contributions that mature age people make to our society and raise awareness of the issues and challenges of ageing in today’s world. A society is measured by how it cares for its elderly citizens - and we recognise there's so much room for improvement here. ... Not only are mature aged citizens treasure troves of knowledge, stories and wisdom - they're also some of the greatest social contributors out there! In fact, the total value of economic and social contributions of mature age Australians is estimated at a whopping $65.7 billion per annum. But not all value is easily quantifiable. While COVID-19 has exposed vulnerabilities in the systems of support for older Australians and the acute challenges they face in isolation, it's also exposed their incredible resilience and positivity and the multiple roles they have in society. As caregivers. As volunteers. As community leaders. So, call your grandparents, parents and family friends - tell them a joke or share a moment of joy in your day and ask about theirs. Check in with any elderly neighbours you have. See how they're doing. Can you do anything for them? Perhaps there's even some scope for them to help out on something you're working on. They're one our society's greatest assets - and we shouldn't overlook this! So here's to the wonderful community of older people near and far. And here's to recognising their resilience and strength #internationaldayofolderpersons #challengingageism

07.01.2022 A great example of how funding can be so misguided. Inaccessible, confusing and and inadequate for our current times have been used to describe the Federal Government's Business Events Grants Scheme. A real shame, given the centrality of our small businesses, events and tourism industry to our economic recovery.

04.01.2022 Start your week by changing things up. Struggling to get words on the paper? Worried about another week where the creative juices just won't flow? Looking for things to distract you? If you've got the luxury of choosing your workspace but you've found yourself cooped up in that one room in your house out of habit - go a little wild this week and explore different work environments. ... Your hustle and grind should not be confined. Certain locations can be well-suited towards different work tasks. Here's what we've explored: Morning emails: pop out to a cafe to get these done. The clamour at chatter can add a buzz to your tone and elevate your mood for the rest of the day. Phone calls: if you're able to integrate some of your regular phone calls into a walk to break up your day, we highly recommend. If not, at least stand and move around. Watch the enhancement in your voice tone and mood Reading, research and writing: head to a local park or beach - or at least to your balcony. A uncluttered, calm, quiet area where all that can distract you is the sound of the ocean or the birds in the trees. AND, if you're brave enough - consider turning off your phone for at least an hour. What works for you? Let us know below

02.01.2022 An incredible woman, an inspiring human. Trailblazing the rights of women and championing social justice. A legacy for us all to rise towards. RIP @ruth.bader.ginsburg @rickfrausto
