19.01.2022 Researchers from UCLA's Geffen School of Medicine have determined that consuming a milk fermented with probiotics changes the brain activity of women. GreenMedI...nfo.com The UCLA medical researchers divided 36 healthy women into three groups. One group was given a milk fermented with probiotics twice a day. Another group was given a milk without the probiotics. The other group was given no milk product. Along with the MRI testing, the researchers tested brain responses to emotional faces, as well as during rest. They utilized analyses that tests emotional response. After the four weeks, those women who drank the probiotic milk had significantly different brain activity changes. Their task-related responses increased, and their activity within the sensory cortex regions changed, which was dramatically illustrated during rest periods. Their midbrain connectivity increased, which the researchers concluded probably explained their task-related response increases. Their altered brain activity also illustrated changes in the brain signaling pathways for emotional responses among the women. The probiotics in the fermented milk included Bifidobacterium animalis, Streptococcus thermophiles, Lactobacillus bulgaricus, and Lactococcus lactis. Each of these species has been shown in other clinical studies to improve health among other organs and tissue regions of the body. Research has also connected the gut's probiotics to the brain via a conduit between the central nervous system and the enteric nervous system. The enteric nervous system is located in the abdominal region around the digestive tract. Many of our neurotransmitters are produced in this region and the neurons relay mind-body responses between the gut and the brain stem. 18.01.2022 Hi all, just to let you know that we have changed the menu here at The Grapevine Cafe in keeping with the change of season. Ben, Desirae,and Katie have come up with some new ideas while still incorporating old favourites. We still have Big Vine and half Vine breakfast all day, Eggs on Toast, and Florentine. New items include Melts of 3 varieties, Thai green Curry, Roasted sweet root salad, and a Seasonal Tart with Rainbow chips. All organic and local where possible,of course! And as always we have freshly squeezed Juices, Smoothies, Great Coffee and Tea. In regard to Evening trading we will need to gauge customer interest so please let us know if you would like us to offer this optiion. Thanks Anna, David, and the Team.

17.01.2022 Just to let everyone know...We will be opening from 9am from now on. Hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much. Still the same yummy foods ( Yes still Big Vines!), just a later timeframe:)

06.01.2022 Hi all, Just to let you know, The Grapevine Cafe will be opening late for coffees, cakes, smoothies and catch-ups, on Wednesday afternoons from now on to compliment the Nimbin Farmers Market. If you haven't been to the market yet, now is definitely a good time to enjoy the longer twilight hours, mingling with friends and neighbours, basking in the best Nimbin has to offer in healthy sustainably grown and sold local produce. Plenty to choose from to enhance your home table and your sense of well-being. Looking forward to see you there. P.S Isn't it great to be part of this 'Most Sustainable Town in NSW' :)
