Claire is the amazing creative behind our images and of course we have just asked her to come and photograph our new products #keepyoureyespeeled . When we started Graze, we wanted our ‘local produce’ to extend to all of our creatives that are crucial to the behind the scenes work. Claire is fun, hilarious and a total genius with photographing anything from a falling down shearing shed to a grumpy baby. The c...ountdown is on to our exciting new products coming to graze. 21.01.2022 When Matt and I told our family that we wanted to start a grazing table company that supported local primary producers one of our biggest supports were his grandparents. Introducing Nan and Pop or Cefn and Phyl! As soon as they heard Pop headed out to his veggie patch and planted cucumbers, radish's, passionfruit, rhubarb, tomatoes and extra herbs so that we could add them to our grazing boxes. You see, this farm is Pop's pride and joy, he raised and raced horses here and b...efore the bridge was put in they would swim them across the Chanel to take them to Woolamai race course. He is as quick as a whip (no pun intended) and will happily recall funny stories of growing up here, getting up to mischief around the Island before roads and townships existed. He met Nan at a dance and well, as they say, the rest is history. Nan always had a house full of jockeys- feeding and caring for them whilst raising a family- if she wasn't in the kitchen she was busying herself making a beautiful home for everyone. We are incredibly lucky to live on the family farm and our sweet Harriet is the 5th generation to live here. Funnily enough, Matt and I enjoy doing the same things that Nan and Pop did- working the land, raising cattle and cooking! The brambling blackberries that have long over taken the old stables, now provide the perfect fruit for our jam and the lessons of farming have been passed on from generation to generation. The love of the land has been long imprinted on our family, we are just one story, but with time, we will bring you plenty more from the amazing locals that have come together to bring you what we proudly call Graze Farm to Plate. Our son Jack arrived- happy and healthy and we also have some new calves- last years calves couldn’t help but come to say hello. Father’s Day is shaping up to be a big one this year. 14.01.2022 Meet Blondie. Blondie (and our other girls) provide us with plenty of eggs for our Lemon Tarts, if we run short we source more from Bimbadeen and Omaru Farms. Blondie is originally from Bimbadeen- as with all of our girls and is very friendly, which isn't great as I am genuinely scared of birds #terriblefarmer. Funny little ISO story for you.. I had a bright spark moment during lock down and cut a fringe, this managed to coincide with Blondie malting.. When I showed Harriet ...my fringe she said 'Mum, you look just like Blondie' Matt and I laughed so hard, and then I went and brought a new packet of hair pins. 11.01.2022 We (mainly Matt) were busy in the garden on the weekend. We have extended our little plot to accommodate more produce for Graze and added a little hot house to give our seeds the best head start. Matt has big plans for our vegetable garden as there is something so satisfying working to create fresh produce. All of the scraps go to the chooks, the broken eggs are used as a natural bug repellant and all the nutrients are then put back into the earth. 10.01.2022 SURPRISE!! Bet you wern't expecting this!!!! Behind the scenes, we have been chipping away at opening our farm stay. Not too long ago this space was a dusty area that had long since seen the days of having people stay. With blood, sweat, tears, a few tantrums and our wonderful tradies, we are finally ready to welcome guests to come and stay/graze with us. Every spare minute Matt has had hes been installing the Kitchen, flooring, shelves,... blinds, painting, paving and building all while I busy myself changing my mind a million times, chasing him down with a paint brush and driving him a little batty. There are so many businesses that do not have social media that we include in our boxes too including our olive, egg, honey and organic fruit producers. And of course there are so many creatives behind the scenes- our graphic designer, photographer, uniform design, cleaning products and our humble cardboard boxes are sourced locally too!
