This means that guests book direct with accommodation owners/managers and... subsequently, accommodation owners do not have to pay a commission for bookings to a third party. Unfortunately, this term is currently being misrepresented by some Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). Booking direct involves two parties - not three. Please wherever possible, book direct with the accommodation venue you wish to stay at. Avoid third parties like Booking.com etc. And, more often than not, you will get a much better deal because the accommodation owner does not have to pay a hefty commission to the third party booking agency.
