05.01.2022 The Busy Bees have spent lots of time this year learning about dinosaurs and volcanoes and the Butterflies have just began learning about volcanoes. To extend this learning we had a special visit today from Mr Michael who is a geologist (and also the Father of our lovely Miss Jess!) Mr Michael taught the children all about dinosaurs, fossils and volcanoes. The children were able to feel shell fossils, coral fossils and leaf fossils which they explored and observed carefully.... This allows for the children to use their sense of touch and observe first hand what happens after many, many years to objects around us. The most popular part of Mr Michael's visit was the exploding volcano! Using food colouring, bicarbonate soda and white vinegar, Mr Michael and the children created massive explosions from the volcano! The children loved seeing the different colour lava and sharing with Mr Michael everything they have learnt about volcanoes.
