08.01.2022 I really do love it when our members get awesome results in such a short space of time!!

08.01.2022 It's true... Google really is trying to take your money. This may not be new to you.... And it’s certainly not new to me... But the other day, was just another occasion where a sneaky setting sitting inside a Google Ad campaign was lurking unnoticed.and had caught another victim completely unawares. Here’s what happened... A recent Teach Traffic member asked me if I could have a look at her account for her (Not sure if you know, but I offer free account reviews for my online community members -- I know, insane value and I definitely won’t be able to do them forever, but for now, I love helping members.) Anyway, she was a bit stuck as to why a simple strategy she was trying to run, just wasn’t working. You might be wondering. What strategy was she trying to do?? She was trying to put a simple banner on a handful of specific websites. Like, a simple banner on The New York Times, LA Times, and NO OTHER websites. Super simple. Super low cost. Hyper targeted. (think of it like a bulls-eye approach). Anyway, she had watched my training videos, but still couldn’t work out what was going wrong. She was bleeding money. And to make matters worse, she was running this campaign for a client of hers, so she was actually bleeding her clients money! Ouch. (I actually think that is worse, as I hate awkward conversations, and that would surely be one!) See, here’s the thing Analyzing an existing campaign (she had set it up BEFORE joining Teach Traffic) can be a bit like untangling spaghetti. Or dropping a precious ring in the sand at a beach. You know it’s there somewherebut it has vanished into the thousands of grains of sands below your feet in the blink of an eye. Fortunately for my member, I’ve analyzed thousands of ad campaigns before. And so, I was kinda like that person that turns up to the beach with those metal detectors (Do you have them where you are? I live in Australia, so there will always be that one guy at the end of the day...scanning the sand with a metal detector.) Anyway, we hooked up accounts (no need for her to give me her logins or anything crazy like that), and I dived into her account for her. And low and behold like a snake lying under a rock, ready to pounce, I found the small, sneaky and unsuspecting setting, causing her campaign to actually have a completely different strategy. See image below. See how the blue dot is not toggled to be completely 'off'...? I know, looks harmless doesn't it. Basically what this sneaky setting means is It's giving Google permission to expand your targeting beyond what you want. This setting caused her ads to show up everywhere!!! And importantly, everywhere she DOESN'T want!! It’s kinda like going to a restaurant and ordering your favourite dish. And your favourite dish arrives, along with 23 other dishes which you never ordered, nor wanted, plus it's filled with food you hate. Oh and the restaurant charges you for it too! Not cool, right! You can imagine how annoyed she was when this was revealed to her. Plus relieved it was found.... and FIXED! I should also mention. Google turned this setting on AUTOMATICALLY! It’s something you need to opt-OUT of. So, it certainly wasn’t her fault. But there were clues. Footprints in the sand... Which is why I found it so easily. But lucky for you, I'm telling you about it, so have a look in your account if this setting is turned on. Oh, and if you decide to join Teach Traffic (http://teachtraffic.com/training/), you can also watch this audit video -- as I make these audit videos available for all members. As you can see here, over 20 audit videos you can learn fromall me going through people's LIVE ad accounts. Showing them what they are doing well, and what they are doing wrong. (you really can learn a lot from others mistakes... and also wins too!) And if you do decide to join, let me know if you want me to look at your account as well. I'd be happy to... as nothing makes me happier then reigning Google in... :) >> https://teachtraffic.com/ In the meantime... Stay safe...and chat soon.
