25.01.2022 Greenbatch was founded in 2017 to find a solution to the prediction that by 2050 more plastic than fish will be in our oceans. We are proud to partner with AQWA The Aquarium of Western Australia who are doing their part to respect the ocean and now have our purple Greenbatch bins on site to collect your waste plastic.

24.01.2022 Heres a great activity by our friends at Scitech. A great way to learn about the different plastics in your home. Look out for a number inside a triangle (this is the plastic identification code) to find out what type of plastic it is and the way it is recycled.

23.01.2022 Less than 2 weeks to go until the Containers for Change initiative starts in WA! Here are the eligible items that you can receive a 10 cent refund from October 1. We will be providing more tips and information next week to help you understand what this means for you and your support of Greenbatch.

23.01.2022 Happy #TipTuesday Greenbatchers! Squash your plastic bottles to save room in your recycling storage system at home and in our #Greenbatch collection cages! REMEMBER: to remove bottle lids, but leave the plastic lid ring, on the bottle!

22.01.2022 Check out this Tanzanian recycling company giving waste plastic a new life by turning plastic bottles into face masks.

19.01.2022 Do you know where your recycling goes once you put it in the yellow lid bin?

19.01.2022 Today is #WorldTeachersDay and an opportunity to say thank you for all their amazing work. Teachers are fundamental to the success of our Greenbatch School Program and educating the future generation of plastic pollution and changing behaviour so that by 2050 there WON'T be more plastic than fish in our oceans. Thank you!

19.01.2022 Here's a #fridayfeelgood story! Great to see soft plastics recycled and reprocessed into concrete for a car park.

19.01.2022 One thing that would help recycling would be more standardisation in product packaging. Imagine being a recycler trying to design machinery to handle all this variety. It's almost like packaging designers are trying to be cruel to recyclers!!

19.01.2022 Great to see Country Road producing items from bread tags. Meet the man behind it, Brad Scott who uses a domestic oven in his workshop to melt the bread tags and moulds them into the bowl. We need more manufacturers using recycled material instead of virgin material. #FeelGoodFriday

19.01.2022 We are already looking forward to next weekend and excited to be helping at the Applecross Rotary Jacaranda Festival 2020 on Saturday from 9.30am - 3.30pm. 18.01.2022 Thanks to our lovely Greenbatch volunteer Sarah Barrett for sharing this stunning photo of Kalbarri. While you #wanderoutyonder in our beautiful state remember how important it is to tackle plastic pollution so that by 2050 we dont have more plastic than fish in our oceans.

Over the next couple of weeks Greenbatch will provide tips and further information about the Containers for Change WA initiative so you know what to expect. #4ChangeWA #ContainersForChange #ContainerDepositScheme #ChangeIsComing

16.01.2022 What an amazing announcement. Great to see leadership from the top to help tackle WAs waste plastic challenges. We obviously need more reprocessing capacity as every Greenbatch supporter knows, But once we deal with the easy to recycle plastics such as PET and HDPE, there is lots of work to be done. Let's tackle all the forms of plastic which that can't be reprocessed and used over and over again. ... That should include all the multi polymer packaging that can't be separated such as Tetrapaks and meat trays made up of multiple different plastics in one unit.

16.01.2022 Looking for a Greenbatch Collection Location...it's as easy as clicking this link.

12.01.2022 You may have seen our WA Govt announced recently they are bringing in a ban on single-use items such as earbuds, straws made out of plastics that cant be recycled. This will bring us into line with many other states and countries around the world. The Indian state government of Maharashtra (the state that is the home of Mumbai) has already taken a decision of banning single-use plastic and it has now directed that all plastic packaging should comprise at least 20 per cent o...f recycled plastic, which is a statutory requirement. This will force brand owners such as P&G, Unilever, Nestle, Pepsico, Coca Cola, Ikea, McDonalds, Starbucks, Walmart and Ralph Lauren to get actively involved in Recycling in India We have some targets in Australia around recycled content use, but they are not statutory requirements yet. If India with all their challenges can bring in Statutory Requirements, let's hope we can aswell!

12.01.2022 We still have a few spots left for our Greenbatch Info Session tomorrow. Register your spot and we will see you there!

04.01.2022 Greenbatch has been engaging with Rotary for over two years now in tackling WAs Waste Plastic challenge with 17 clubs coming on board so far. Earlier this year; Rotary, at an international level, officially adopted the environment as one of its core focus areas. Last week Greenbatch officially become part of the Rotary family as it was inducted as a member into the Rotary Club of Perth which this year celebrates 100 years of service to the WA community. With the incoming 10c Container Deposit Scheme, not only can Rotary and other community groups, schools and business help tackle our waste plastic, they can also fundraise at the same time. What an amazing win-win!!

Now we are proud owners of WAs first (and only) plastic bottle recycling line, custom painted in purple and green of course. It's been a long rollercoaster ride with lots of ups and downs and twists and turns, but seeing this memory helps remind us all how far we've shifted the dial for reprocessing in WA!!... Thank you for all your support for all those that have joined together with us on this journey!!

01.01.2022 Great news... Coca-Cola's Australia is doing away with polystyrene for the packaging of frozen drinks. Polystyrene can't easily be recycled. Whereas PET plastic can be easily recycled over and over again. It's great to see things moving in the right direction. This change will reduce the company's use of virgin plastic by 40,000 tonnes by the end of next year. Which also means they create demand for 40,000 tonnes of recycled plastic. This is great news for the recycling industry!
