You're welcome to keep getting your #GreenImpactAUNZ news from this page, but if you're looking for something a bit more interactive, then please join the group. 21.01.2022 As part of #PlasticFreeJuly, ACTS is hosting a REBOOTING REUSE webinar this Wednesday to provide guidance on how you can help reboot reuse, on our campuses and in our everyday lives, at this critical time. We're running this webinar instead of our weekly #actsofconnection, but Green Impact participants are more than welcome to attend! Hear firsthand from our panelist Kim Borg, Research Fellow at BehaviourWorks Australia, about the success of the reuse movement prior to the pa...ndemic, with a focus on the key relationships between media, social norms and single-use plastic avoidance behaviours. You'll also hear from Fabia Pryor who heads up global partnerships, responsible business and advocacy at KeepCup. Known worldwide for its reusable cups, KeepCup is a global campaign for reuse and has already helped divert millions of single-use cups from landfill. Fabia will dispel many of the myths concerning reusable cups, and provide a scientifically endorsed safe method for using reusable cups. Amanda Cunningham will wrap up the presentations with a case study of reuse in action from Victoria University of Wellington, where you'll learn about their AURAKI Returnable Cup Scheme.

20.01.2022 Did you know that reducing the amount of meat you consume on a weekly basis, especially red meat, can be a big win for reducing your carbon footprint? Globally, the animal agriculture industry is one of the top contributors to greenhouse gasses. By making some small changes to your eating habits, you can do your part to help fight climate change and getting involved with Meat Free Mondays is a great place to start! Meat Free Mondays encourages people to reduce their meat con...sumption by eating a meat free meal once (or more) a week. To help you and your team get involved, wed like to create a digital recipe book filled with tried and tested (and tasty) plant based recipes. So for this weeks #actsofconnection, we are inviting you to share your best meat free recipes with us. Well select the best submissions to be included in the digital book, and to sweeten the deal, every time you submit a recipe before the deadline youll go into the draw to win an awesome prize! Please send your recipe (including ingredients list, full methodology and a photo) to [email protected] by 5pm AEST | 7pm NZST on Wednesday 16th September 2020. We can't wait to see what you submit, like these tasty spinach puffs from UNSW'a Global Green Chain team

05.01.2022 GREEN IMPACT TEAMS IN ACTION Team GreenSPACE from the University of Melbourne recently hosted a whole-school morning tea and silent auction (comprised of only home-made/locally-made items) as a fundraiser for Wildlife Victoria. The event was hugely popular, with lots of great feedback, particularly around bringing people together in a time of need. In fact, a key highlight noted from the team was the compassion and camaraderie people showed towards each other during... the event, as well as the friendly competition within the auction itself. Team GreenSPACE managed to raise over $1000 for Wildlife Victoria, which will go toward their bushfire recovery efforts! #greenimpact #greenimpactAUNZ University of Melbourne Sustainable Campus

05.01.2022 Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy Easter! May the Easter Bilby bring you the tastiest of fairtrade treats this weekend, and remember you can collect and recycle foil that’s scrunched into the size of your fist Why the Easter Bilby? The greater bilby (Macrotis lagotis), also known as the rabbit-eared bandicoot, is a desert-dwelling creature that once occupied over 80 percent of the Australian continent.... But due to decades of declinedriven largely by habitat loss and predation by cats, foxes, and other introduced speciesbilbies now only exist in a handful of remote regions in Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. The International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Australian government consider the animal vulnerable to extinction. Australian conservation groups such as the Foundation for Rabbit-Free Australia and Save the Bilby Fundhave encouraged public awareness of the species by promoting the Easter bilby as an alternative to the Easter bunny.
