25.01.2022 Recycling This week the children have learnt about recycled materials and how we can recycle many products that we use instead of throwing them in the bin. The Pre-Kinder children developed their knowledge of recycled materials, and what materials belong in which waste bin. The children watched an Education clip about Recycling to give and show examples. The children through the centre had the opportunity to select recycled materials from our recycling station in the foyer to take back in the room and be creative with these. They enjoyed being able to follow each other in a line completing each stage of the course while laughing and smiling at each other.

23.01.2022 In the Pre-Kinder room, we offer Playdough each day. Playdough is a fantastic and fun way for children to learn a variety of learning outcomes. Children develop many skills, like mathematical concepts like measuring the ingredients eg: 1 cup, 2 tbls 1/4 cup. Verbal language, when asking questions and talking to their peers about the experience. The children chose red playdough today and I added a few drops of peppermint essential oils, for smell and calmness. This gets the senses going with touch, feel and sight.

Through Yoga we are leaning about calmness and balance, getting the children to learn to b calm through movement and learning how to breathe through it, it is a great way for the children to stay active whilst inside but through a controlled environment. It is about how our bodies and muscle can move, stand and stretch. The children enjoy following the pictures that we have set out as well as creating their own poses. Balance is a key element of yoga. The balancing poses promote mental and physical balance. Mental clarity and balance emerge from the effort of trying the poses. Even if a child never learns to stand on one foot, if they can learn to stay calm when they falland to get up and try againtheyve learned balance.
