25.01.2022 Our edible gardens, full of vegetables and herbs are just one of the outdoor features our children love at Green Leaves! Our sustainable gardens at each centre are cultivated and maintained by our centre staff, Chefs and of course our children! Caring for our edible gardens provide children with a deeper understanding of how to nurture their natural environments.

25.01.2022 Our outdoor resources work within the natural environment, to evoke each child’s curiosity and imagination. We are excited to share an example of some of the resources you can expect to see in our multiple age-appropriate outdoor play areas at Green Leaves North Shore.

19.01.2022 Today we celebrated the Indian, Holi Festival of Colours. Holi represents the arrival of Spring, the end of winter, the blossoming of love, and a festive way to meet people. The children enjoyed getting involved in a throwing colour experience and experienced the joy of throwing and seeing all the different colours. In celebrating this day we are learning about another culture within our service and the wider community.

17.01.2022 To ensure your child has the best start to their educational journey, we purposely design our Kindergarten rooms to host innovative technology, premium resources and challenging and stimulative learning stations. 12.01.2022 World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognised day on 2nd April every year, where we are encouraged to take measures to raise awareness about people with autistic spectrum disorders including autism and Asperger syndrome throughout the world. Today most of our educators are wearing blue in support of this great cause to shine a light on such an important initiative. Along with Easter activities, today we focused on sensory activities. These help children with autism relax, focus, and calm down to a scenario or event. It helps them grasp objects with decreased fear and discomfort, ultimately helping them play naturally. Furthermore, sensory activities help develop social learning skills like negotiating, planning, and sharing.

11.01.2022 Today we had a very special visit from some of the construction vehicles that have been working right across the road from our centre. We have been watching them work for weeks and today the children from our Toddler 2 and Junior Kindy rooms were able to experience a Grater and Digger up close. They noticed how much bigger they are up close and really enjoyed being able to investigate them. Community involvement is very important to our service, to teach children about the community around them. Quality area 6.2.3. Community engagement states that: The service builds relationships and engages with its community. What an exciting day!

09.01.2022 Last but not least for our new team member introductions is our Green Leaves North Shore Chef, Nikki! With 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry and a passion for healthy eating and nutrition, you can be sure that our centre's children will be well taken care of. Learn more about Niccole in her welcome letter below:... Hi Families, I have 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry and have been a practicing Chef for 9 years. During my apprenticeship, I was selected out of 32 Apprentices from all around Australia to participate in a 3-day masterclass, during which I worked closely with 3 very well-known Australian Chefs. After this experience, I was awarded ‘Apprentice Chef of the Year'. In 2015 I was in the top 5 for Queensland's Apprentice of the year. That year I also won a Silver medal in the Nestle Golden Chef’s Hat competition and have been published in the Australia Cooks cookbook in 2016. I have a strong passion for Nutrition and Fitness. The part that I love most is the vitamins and minerals an individual can get purely by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. With that passion, I decided to study Sports Nutrition to further my knowledge and understanding around this topic. As a Chef, I aim to provide your children with the best possible nutritious meals and to further educate families about the importance of diet. Please feel free to come have a chat to me. I am always here to help. I am very excited to be joining the Green Leaves family and I am looking forward to meeting you and your families very soon! Happy and Healthy Regards, Chef Nikki

It is celebrated with many community festivals and local events with global food and music and traditional dress. Today each of our rooms create...d their own unique canvas using handprints to help us celebrate. We also incorporated some cultural songs such as 'Hello, to all the children of the world'. While the transition to school can be a time of excitement, it can also be filled with restlessness and concern. Our school readiness program ensures that each child is prepared emotionally, socially, physically, and with self-care skills to make an easy and successful transition into school.
