Miss Sara thought she would help the Kinder children participate by making it into a little game - pretending that there are aliens trying to come in so that the Kinders would practice hiding really well! Afterwards, continuing on with their playful creativity - Miss Sara decided to take her class outside with some clipboards, paper and pencils. Together they drew their own types of aliens using thei...r wide imaginations! Sounds like a playful and thoughtful learning opportunity Kinders, good work!!

18.01.2022 Leading up to Halloween the children have gotten into the halloween spirit and yesterday the Nursery children engaged in a 'spiderweb' experience. Educators placed pictures of spiders at the bottom of the basket and threaded string in different directions so it looked like a spiderweb. They encouraged the children to try and retrieve them. This encouraged their problem solving skills as well as their hand eye coordination.

18.01.2022 Junior Kinder's Daily Post: "During group time, we read one of our class favourites, ‘The cat in the hat’! The children are always very intrigued whenever we read this story! So in light of Book Week, we decided to create our very own (Cat in The Hat) hats!" "To begin we placed red paint, cardboard, paper plates, the book, and already made hat on the table for inspiration! We assisted the children in creating the hat by rolling the long piece of cardboard into a cylinder and using sticky tape to secure it in place. The children then stuck the cylinder onto the paper plate and began to paint the red stripes around the hat. They all look fantastic! Great work Junior Kinder’s!" - Miss Julia

18.01.2022 Here are our Solar Systems - created by our Kinders - Rose, Stella and Evie, Apolline and Angus We watched a short clip on the planets and as we were going through each one, we drew them with their special features to help us learn and remember them individually! For example, we drew Venus with some flames to remind us that its the hottest planet and we drew the raging storm on Jupiter to remind us that Jupiter is the biggest planet that holds the biggest storm!

18.01.2022 Our kinder team held a group time discussion today all about Halloween. They wanted to see if children celebrated Halloween at home and if they were interested in celebrating Halloween here at the centre. Most children were very excited that Halloween was approaching and talked about what costumes they were going to dress up in. A few children expressed that they thought Skelton dress ups were too scary. From this conversation, it sparked a bit of interest - children wanted to create skeletons using a range of art materials.

17.01.2022 Our Kinder children are continuing to extend on their numeracy skills by incorporating fun counting activities. Today children decided they would like to make beaded wristbands. Children decided on their favourite number, what colour beads they would like to use and whom this lovely gift would be given too.

15.01.2022 Our toddler children show compassion and empathy while taking care of the room dolls. Pretend play encourages children to take on the role to be responsible for feeding, rocking and putting dolls to sleep. Children model these skills and behaviours by observing mums, dads and other special people in their life. This play increases childrens language, creativity and imaginative skills.

14.01.2022 Happy Educators Day! We would love to wish all our Early Childhood Educators, a big Thank You!! Thank You for all your hard work and dedication, ... Thank You for your love and respect to our families, Thank You for caring and teaching our children, But most of all Thank You for being here and being YOU!

14.01.2022 "By knowing their interest in caring for dolls, we created an environment of bathing baby dolls. This Imaginative play is essential for children who enjoy role playing and acting out various experiences they may have had, seen or something that they are interested in. They are experimenting with decision making on how to behave around babies and are also practicing their social and emotional skills. ... Keeping this in mind, we set up an activity by taking two tubs, filling them up with water and bubbles and some cloths for the children to use. The children were curious to see a tub with water and bubbles, they seemed interested to see what we had planned - we then gave each child to hold their own baby dolls too. As soon as they saw the tub, they started placing the babies in the tub and pretended to give them a bath. Children were so excited to bath their own babies and provided small piece of cloth to wipe it either for cleaning or drying." - Vathsala, Tiny Tots Educator

14.01.2022 Continuing with Kinders project on planets- Miss Rachel showed the Kinders a little video from national geographic about the solar system specifically looking at the clip identifies what each planet is known for e.g. Jupiter the largest planet. The kinder children learnt that the sun lies at the heart of the solar system, where it is by far the largest object. The Sun is a yellow dwarf star, a hot ball of glowing gases.

Some children decided to use art materials and some preferred to draw their own creation. Children used their imagination and creative skills to create their perfect snowman!

10.01.2022 Kinder continued their project on Planets, today at group time children played a matching game. Rachel held up a picture of each planet in order and asked the children to name each one. We then talked a little bit about each planet such as Venus has lots of volcanoes, Jupiter has a raging storm, Uranus and Neptune as the ice giants etc. The children then had to find the matching picture to go with each planet. This enhanced childrens memory and problem-solving skills.

09.01.2022 Today our Toddler children made colour sand using sand and food colouring. First, the children transferred the sand into tiny bowls. They added their favourite food colouring. Asher said, blue and Olivia and Gabe said red. They mixed the sand with the food colour and got different coloured sand. The children even touched the sand and observed its texture. They played with the sand for some time. We kept the sand for drying. Later it will be stored in ziplock bags for future sensory play.

This form of invitation to play allows children to develop their inventiveness and creativity. When given the opportunity to explore different materials without limits a child is given the freedom to take risks and discover how different materials reacted to each other in the world. The opportunities like this they can starting to develop a sense of innovation that will impact their further thought. - Miss Chia

05.01.2022 Our Tiny tot's project for this month is "All about me". Educators have set up experiences to extend on children learning about themself and their family.
