Plus more to come once St George Stadium, Barton Park and Riverine Park are redeveloped. By the time the later 3 are redeveloped, EVERY. SINGLE. PARK. large enough for a soccer field in this vicinity, will have a synthetic soccer field on it. And speaking of waterways, all of these parks have been built next to critical water ways - Cooks River, Scarbourough Park, Muddy Creek - and draining microplastics straight out into Botany Bay.

18.01.2022 BREAKING: Polling in Maiwar shows a huge swing to the Greens and puts us in the lead 6 weeks out from the October election! This tells us that our hard work is... really paying off, and Greens politics are popular and resonating with a huge range of people on the west side, despite the LNP's well-funded attacks. Not only have we seen this huge swing in Maiwar, we're also on track to win both McConnel and South Brisbane. But a lot can happen in 6 weeks, and we're not taking anything for granted. 12.01.2022 The Liberal Government’s decision to hike fees and further cut funding to universities cannot be allowed to proceed, and I pledge to fight in Parliament to bloc...k this shameful attack on students and Universities. Everyone should have access to a world-class education without going into enormous debt. The Greens would provide free undergraduate university and free TAFE for all students, and boost university funding by 10% per student to make sure that all students receive high-quality teaching and facilities. We would do all of this, and more, by making big corporations finally pay their fair share.

11.01.2022 Did you know that in Qld no political party or candidate can ever give your vote to anybody else? But Labor and the LNP love to stoke the myth that a vote for ...the Greens is a vote for another party, and that Greens will give your preferences to someone else. They’ll also tell you that voting for Greens is a ‘wasted vote’. These furphies have been peddled by them for so long they almost feel real. Unsurprisingly, they say it to scare people into sticking with them rather than voting for Greens. This election it’s beginning to look like Labor’s only campaign tactic in the South East, to keep Greens from winning seats, is to tell bigger, shinier porkies. Pretty sad and grubby. And we expect more to come from the LNP too. I guess they’ll do whatever it takes to hang onto their seats.. Politics doesn’t have to be this way. So in case you’re left wondering about any of this, especially after Labor’s whopper today about Greens imaginary ‘preference deals’ with the LNP, here’s what’s real: A vote 1 for the Greens is, well, a vote for the Greens (yay!). You get to choose the preference order you want, and by law nobody can tell you otherwise (it’s why the preference order on a How-to-Vote card can only ever be a suggestion!). No party or candidate can ever give your vote or your preferences to anyone else. Like, NEVER. That’s the law. (Let’s face it, if it were possible Labor & the LNP would already being doing it to stop Greens votes surging!). We Queensland Greens have categorically ruled out any ‘preference deal’, power-sharing deal, coalition agreement, or guarantee of confidence or supply with the LNP or One Nation. Greens members in every branch across Queensland have voted to put One Nation and the LNP last on ‘how-to-vote’ suggestion cards for every seat in Queensland. Because of the LNP’s commitment to job cuts, privatisation, and cuts to essential services, the Greens would never provide confidence to an LNP government.

As we recover from this pandemic, public funds should be invested in public housing and job-creating projects, not handed over to big polluting corporations. I commend AMWU - Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union for calling for the government to invest in renewables, not fossil fuels. Gas is not only a toxic fossil fuel, it's becoming too expensive to compete with clean energy. More and more, industrial users are keen to make the switch to renewable energy, but are being hamstrung by a government desperate to prop up dirty coal, oil and gas. Transitioning our grid to 100% renewables won't just create hundreds of thousands of jobs as we build a clean energy grid, it will unlock our natural sun and wind resources to power Australia's manufacturing sector with all the energy we need for centuries to come. Let's do it.
