22.01.2022 Here is a petition to the State Government for saving Kosciusko National Park. 20,000 signatures are urgently needed. Please sign and share if you are a NSW resident.
22.01.2022 BREAKING: We’ve obtained video footage of logging happening in unburnt forests just weeks after fire ripped through masses of NSW’s forests! WATCH AND SHARE TO ...EXPOSE! With so much forest destroyed by the fires, it’s critical we look after what’s left if our wildlife is to survive. Yet as you read this some of the last prime habitat for threatened species such as the Spotted-tailed Quoll and the Hastings River Mouse is being destroyed. Add your name to the petition calling on the Premier to stop logging now >> www.nature.org.au//bushfire-emergency-save-forests-from-l/

18.01.2022 Greetings Greens members and supporters. The purpose of this post is to let you know that, after consultation with members of the seven local groups in the Ede...n-Monaro electorate, delegates from those groups met last night via Zoom and we can now confirm that today, Friday May 8, we are beginning the process to select a candidate to stand in the by-election for Eden-Monaro. The date for this by-election and the process used to conduct it in this COVID-19 era are yet to be announced by the Government and Electoral Commission. We expect the process to be finalised by early in the last week of May, at which time we will announce our candidate. The Greens local groups who have members in this electorate are, in alphabetical order, Bega Valley, Braidwood, Burrinjuck, Eurobodalla, Queanbeyan-Monaro, Riverina and Snowy Monaro. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mike Kelly for his dedication to the role of being Eden-Monaro's MP, twice, and being one of the few MPs other than Greens to be vocal on climate change. We wish him, Rachelle and their family the very best for the future. Catherine Moore, interim campaign co-ordinator
16.01.2022 Surprise surprise! Their calculations were only out by 97% though. Even more reason not to "go back to normal" post-Covid. https://www.smh.com.au//we-stuffed-up-coal-miner-admits-to
15.01.2022 Logging in the badly burnt forests just South of my place at Milton is happening right now. It’s devastating for the community who survived the horror fire sea...son and who have seen the destruction of the forests and wildlife to see this happening. Burnt trees, many just starting to get some new growth on their trunks, are being hauled out of the recovering forests on the back of a logging truck. The reality is that, after the fires, every tree really matters now. They are worth so much more standing as habitat for wildlife recovery, as carbon storage and filters for water running into local creeks. The fires should have prompted a rethink, but instead the Government has just let the logging rip again. I'm calling for a moratorium on logging until a full assessment of the ecological and wood supply impacts of the fires has been undertaken. The priority has to be on ecological recovery and ensuring any future logging doesn't undermine that recovery. The industry will need Government support through a moratorium period, but there is a clear opportunity to repurpose this workforce to focus on the sustainable management of our forests as they recover from the fires, including in fire management for the future. Will you back the calls for a moratorium? Signup here to stay in touch with the campaign: https://www.justinfield.org/firemoratoriumonloggingnow
15.01.2022 We have been sent this video from an inspiring woman who is experiencing first hand the impact of the recent fires on our wildlife. This footage is from the Sou...th Coast of NSW near Bateman’s Bay. We acknowledge the incredible efforts of countless volunteers, wildlife groups, firefighters, parks rangers, community members, as well as the immensity of financial generosity from Australia and around the world - we also share her plea that more food, water, veterinarians and animal welfare professionals be delivered immediately to assist our wildlife. They are suffering. The scale of this utter disaster for wildlife requires a coordinated response at a national level. This is a catastrophe on a scale that has never been seen before and the response should be proportionate for the sake of our wildlife. Please like, share and help be the voice for wildlife.
