19.01.2022 Another example of age degradation of insulation... A good reason to isolate all circuits when working in roof spaces. This home has "cap and case" wiring in the lights, where the wires are cotton or rubber insulation layed in timber channels with a lid nailed on. No Earth! As is obvious, the insulation has seen better days.

02.01.2022 A recent hot water failure tells a tale... A rental with roof top solar on J tariff, Rcd and rusty bottom bolts. These babies broke off in my hand so I figured it wasn't going to be standard swap. Next was the state of the element... Good nick, except a droopy melted section at the top. Conclusion. ... 1.We have an element energised with air still in the tank. 2. Additional heat warped the seal and exposed the bolts. Solution. Drillled and tapped new holes. New element. Bled The System of Air. Energised on M tariff and clamp test. The sort of job it's good to have a youngster with you. Happy owner! See more
