25.01.2022 Global Energy Storage to Double 6 Times by 2030, Matching Solars Spectacular Rise The energystorageindustry is set to rise dramatically -- for those companies that can play the long game. Bloomberg New Energy Finance released a report Tuesday that forecasts the global energy storage market will double six times from now to 2030, from a meager starting point of less than 5 gigawatt-hours last year, to more than 300 gigawatt-hours and 125 gigawatts of capacit...y by the end of the next decade. An estimated $103 billion will be invested in energy storage over that time period. The trajectory for energy storage mirrors the market expansion that solar went through from 2000 to 2015, when the share of solar PV as a percentage of total generation doubled seven times. This rapid global growth rate tracks well with the U.S. energy storage market forecast from GTM Research, which projects a twelvefold growth in the U.S. alone between 2016 and 2022, to reach 7.2 gigawatt-hours, or 2.6 gigawatts, of capacity. This growth is going to be driven by both cost reductions for batteries and associated systems, and a rising need for more gigawatts of flexibility to manage the ups and downs of an increasingly wind- and solar-powered grid, 70 percent of global capacity through 2030 will be installed in eight countries: the U.S., China, Japan, India, Germany, U.K., Australia and South Korea. The primary driver in each will be managing an increasingly renewable and intermittent energy resource mix. 24.01.2022 SoNick batteries are now the only batteries that have successfully passed the UL9540A certification which is to test for thermal runaway using five different methodologies ; overcharge, external short circuit, nail penetration through casing and separator and overheating to 800 degrees C, The UL9540A test was developed by a third-party safety science organization UL, as a new test method for use in international fire protection regulations (2018 IFC: International Fire Co...de) and the National Fire Protection Associations NFPA 855 technical standard related to installation of energy storage systems. 21.01.2022 Independent modelling found that Australias Federal Government National Energy Guarantee (NEG) would result in 6,600 less renewable energy jobs in 2030 than business as usual and that renewable energy investment could come to a standstill. The Governments energy scheme could lead to renewable energy investment and jobs grinding to a halt, while it should be doing the exact opposite. ... Yet again, we see the importance of an independent voice in holding the Government to account. The EY research compared the projections for the NEG of 28% renewable energy in 2030 with a business as usual scenario. We found that the Governments proposal would result in 8% lower employment than a business as usual forecast. That means fewer jobs in wind and large-scale solar PV construction and operation. This plan is actually worse than doing nothing. The modelling also looked at a 50% renewable energy scenario by 2030. Staggeringly, the Governments initiative would result in 32% less employment. Thats over 20,000 fewer jobs in large scale wind and solar PV, and rooftop PV in 2030. Given our abundant wind and solar resources, there are countless opportunities for Australia to grow renewable energy and reduce pollution while doing so. Today, Australias Chief Scientist, Alan Finkel, released a report that found that securing 50% renewable energy could reliably power Australia without needing significant amounts of storage. #ClimateCouncil If you would like to be part of the solution by utilising quality renewable energy products and would like to know more about getting safe, reliable battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #alternativeenergy #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #saltbattery #moltensaltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #saltwaterbattery #cleanenergy #thefutureofenergy #offgrid See more

11.01.2022 Power 4 Farmers = $ for Farmers As most are by now aware. Farmer Power has organised a Workshop/Exhibition with numerous energy providers, financial and technic...al advisors to present alternative energy solutions and to explain to dairy farmers how the new Victorian grants and loans can best be accessed The Victorian Governments new grants program has been the subject of two detailed briefings with representatives of Farmer Power, so we are well informed about how the grants will help dairy farmers. The Victorian Government will invest $30 million to help Victorias farmers manage energy costs through improved efficiency and new technology. The Agriculture Energy Investment Plan will help local farmers reduce energy costs, maintain competitiveness and create local jobs by providing on farm energy assessments, as well as grants to improve energy efficiency and install renewable energy systems. The funding will include: $5 million for energy efficiency assessments on farm $20 million in grants to support farmers invest in energy efficiency and generation technology $1.5 million to demonstrate energy efficiency and generation measures on farm $2.5 million to link farmers and businesses to information, education resources and apps $1 million in research to commercialise research for the farming sector. Farmer Powers program appears to dovetail precisely with what the Victorian Government has planned, and the two initiatives working together will give a significant boost to farmers. We are looking to establish a number of demonstration farms in the first round, showcasing a range of different solutions, and then encourage adoption of appropriate solutions on other farms. I encourage all those dairy farmers who can attend to do so - all are welcome and its free of charge! Farmer Power has already had enquiries not just from dairy farmers but other farmers as well as regional businesses who are also showing interest. Help make this event a success for all of us. Remember 31st of January Terang Civic Centre, exhibition opens at 10.30am, workshop sessions start at 1pm. Do not miss out on this great opportunity to help us help you! Yours faithfully Garry Kerr Executive Officer See more

09.01.2022 Another #FarmerPower event, this time in Shepparton to help northern Victorian #dairyfarmers understand some of the #renewableenergy options that are available to dairy farmers. Dairy farmers are finding it extremely difficult to make a decent wage and their power usage is a large part of their overheads. We talked to many dairy farmers about solar battery storage systems to help them learn the pros and cons of different battery technologies. Is it affordable? What is... the latest technology? Will it work for me? When consumers go online to compare different batteries there is so much conflicting information available it is very difficult to get a clear picture of what is available and to understand what is happening in the industry. What's important is you compare similar products and don't just listen to what salespeople are telling you. If a product has been in use for a number of years the quoted figures are more likely to be reliable than if a product is new and hasn't yet been tested in real life conditions. Generally batteries are tested in factories at 25 degrees. This can produce different results than are experienced in real life when temperatures vary widely. Currently there are no relevant battery standards in Australia as the current battery standards only really apply to lead acid batteries which have been the main energy storage batteries available until quite recently. This means companies that are trying to sell you batteries can make any claims they like regarding depth of discharge and numbers of cycles of their new batteries. This is why you will find very different claims from the same batteries. It is important that when looking at ROI that people take into account all factors of the lifetime cost of any renewable energy system, including energy storage. #p4farmers #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #Solarbatterystorage #solaraustralia #gridedge #FIAMM #moltensaltbattery #saltbattery #cleanenergy #prosandconsofbatterystorage See more

08.01.2022 It seems there is more and more awareness of the dangers in lithium batteries coming out. Although lithium ion batteries are currently the most commonly used energy storage batteries, both domestic and large scale there are other safer technologies available. I certainly wouldn't want a battery attached to my house, even with multiple safeguards, that reacted like the lithium in this video. If a reaction like this occurs with tiny bits of lithium, or lithium batteries in ph...ones and computers, imagine what would happen with a large battery near your house. Many people are purchasing lithium ion batteries for their house to reduce their reliance on coal powered energy, (which is good,) based on the cheaper cost of these batteries, however, when you take the danger risks into account these batteries could become very expensive. 06.01.2022 A great response for the battery talk John gave at Poowong last week. We find that more and more people are interested in battery storage and as we always say to people it is critical to do your homework before buying batteries, talks like this one put on by EICO are well received by appreciative members of the public.

05.01.2022 With the installation of energy storage systems most people look at the battery and concentrate on that but in reality the battery inverter is an integral part of any energy storage system and will dictate much of the energy storage systems operations. Often when an energy storage system isnt working properly the fault lies with the inverter and not the battery. Inverter power is measured in kVA or volt amps.... The battery inverter takes power from the solar PV array (solar inverter or MPPT) and battery which can be of different voltages and converts it to 240V for household of business use. Solar inverters are designed to work with solar PV arrays and battery inverters are designed to work with energy storage batteries. Hybrid inverters are also coming onto the market that combine both solar PV and battery conversions. The battery inverter dictates; http://gridedgenews.com/not-all-battery-inverters-are-equal/ If you would like to know more about getting safe, reliable, recyclable, Sodium Nickel Chloride (molten salt) battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid application visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au

02.01.2022 Battery storage uptake by households surges as grid costs soar Battery storage systems being installed in Australia look set to confirm earlier predictions that battery installations will treble in 2017. ... New data from the SunWiz 2017 Mid-Year Battery Report shows more than 7000 battery installations took place across Australia in the first six month of 2017. By contrast there were 6500 installations recorded for all of 2016. Current projections say Australia is headed for a total of more than 20,000 energy storage battery installations by the end of 2017. Leading the charge to home batteries is New South Wales, which is home to 21 per cent of installations so far this year. Queensland comes a close second with 18 per cent, followed by Victoria, at 12 per cent. According to the Sunwiz report, the boom in home battery storage installations most are being sold in combination with a rooftop solar system, it says, rather than to existing solar households is being driven mainly by major power price hikes, as homes and small businesses seek to minimise the electricity they import from the grid, by maximising the consumption of their rooftop solar.
