22.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

18.01.2022 Sad news with the passing of long time CWA Member Mrs Lynnette Brown. Lyn was for many years a member of Widgelli - Wumbulgal Branch, which sadly recently closed. Lyn also was the Griffith Branch’s garden gnome, quietly tending our gardens for many years in the early hours of the day in summer and in much more respectful hours during the colder months. She was well known throughout Murrumbidgee Lachlan Group always ready with a skit or informative item at International & Cultural Days, and an active contributor to all Group meetings. Lyn’s personality & bubbly laugh & vast knowledge will be sadly missed by all involved with CWA. Our condolences, thoughts & prayers are with Owen, Brett, Julie-Ann and their families at this time.

12.01.2022 The NSW Rural Women’s Network, in partnership with The Rural Woman, are proud to announce a new project, the BETreat Reset Sessions for Rural Women. T...hese BETreat sessions will be covered online over 8 weeks between October and November and aim to help support rural and regional women after some seriously tough times. Minister for Women, Bronnie Taylor MLC, said the series will recognise and support the essential role women continue to play in helping regional communities recover and thrive after the prolonged drought, bushfires, and COVID-19 pandemic. Women are often the lifeblood of rural and regional communities and time and again are the ones who hold the people around them up during tough times, Mrs Taylor said. The program aims to provide them with an opportunity to breathe and reset, as well as gain some essential skills to help them continue to support their families and communities. The powerful and practical sessions will help them in areas such as having difficult conversations and recognising the importance of looking after themselves first. The series will be launched on the International Day of Rural Women on October 15 and events will be hosted during October and November via Zoom. Rural Women’s Network Senior Coordinator, Allison Priest, said the sessions have been designed in response to feedback gathered from teams on the frontline of the recovery and rebuilding process in rural NSW. Each 90-minute session will be hosted and presented by subject matter experts and those with lived experience in disaster recovery, Mrs Priest said. The primary focus is on providing ‘time out’ rather than overloading participants with new information and education. For information on the topics that will be covered, and to register for your interest, head to http://rwnbetreat.online/ Women NSW Young Farmer Business Program Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW The Rural Woman NSW Department of Primary Industries
