25.01.2022 Latest Update We are now conducting Telehealth consultations via FaceTime , Skype ,WhatsApp or Coviu which is a specialised secure platform which has end to end encryption. Presently DVA , EPC, Workers Compensation & Third Party have approved payment for these consultations. At the moment private health funds are not covering these but we have been told that this will begin on 14 April.... Until the health funds come on line we are charging a set reduced rate of $53.80 for these consultations.

24.01.2022 Over the next few weeks we will be giving you a little snippet of things we see a lot of in the clinic outlining common signs and Symptoms. This weeks topic is... SHIN SPLINTS ... Shin splints is a term used to describe pain along the edges of the shin bone. Shin splints are quite common in especially in sports that require a lot of running or high impact sports. Shin splints are caused by the tightening or straining of the muscles that attach onto the shin bone. If shin splints are not treated then there is a chance that the strain of the muscles on the shin may cause stress fractures. This will not normally show up on plain X-ray so a bone scan or MRI may be recommended to properly diagnose the stress fractures. Shin splints can be caused by a range of factors. generally it will occur from overtraining or an increase in training load together with poor footwear or biomechanics (the control of the lower limb when applying or absorbing force). Your physiotherapist will guide you on ways to address poor biomechanics and guide you on a graded return to sports whilst managing training loads. Taping can also help to offload the tight muscles at the front of the shin. Things to try that may help to give you some relief: - Icing of the shin - Stretching of the calf muscles - Using a foam roller for you calves.
