As part of our fundraising goal in supporting our Pasifika and Maori students, we have created the 2020 GPA Scholarship for Trimester 1. 07.01.2022 GPA TRIMESTER 1 SCHOLARSHIP 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT On behalf of the Griffith Pasifika Association Committee for 2020, I am delighted to announce the winner for the Griffith Pasifika Association Student Scholarship for Trimester 1, 2020. The scholarship is established to honour our Maori and Pacific Islander people who are struggling with paying university fee's upfront. This competition was intense, and you are commended for your academic achievements and determination. ... It is our pleasure to award the GPA Student Scholarship for Trimester 1, 2020 in the amount of $1000.00 and 2x $100 Gift Cards. This amount can be used to pay part of your university fee's or even assist in textbooks. In this, we hope to make our member’s academic journey here at Griffith University and the Griffith Pasifika Association a smooth one. Scholarship Recipient - Karell Usang Our winner as well as our two gift card recipients have been contacted. Thank you all for applying for the Griffith Pasifika Association Student Scholarship. We enjoyed getting to know more about our members. We appreciate you sharing information with us. Determining the recipient of the GPA scholarship is always a difficult decision and is based on many factors, one our panel of judges worked vigorously on. 05.01.2022 Last week, the Griffith Pasifika Association hosted our annual GPA FIAFIA NIGHT - Small Islands, Big Dreams. On behalf of our team we extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to our families, friends and support network who were able to celebrate and showcase the talents of the Pacific. Your support in helping our families and students in need is greatly appreciated and is a testament to the caring and giving spirit of our Pasifika culture. Together, Griffith Pasifika Associ...ation was able to raise $5,164.50! These funds will go towards GPA’s activities and most importantly, the GPA Scholarship. This was an initiative which began in 2017 which supports New Zealand / International Pasifika students lessen the financial burdens of coming to University. All glory goes back to God for the blessings upon our families, friends and GPA. A massive thank you again to our wonderful MC Suli Layt who did a phenomenal job hosting this event. Thank you to our guest performers - our brothers and sister from UQ SPIA as well as our valued Tuvaluan community for your assistance in our performances. We value all your time and effort in contributing to what was a successful and awesome night. Shout out to our helpers and volunteers for the night for playing an important role in the night running smoothly. Our association prides itself on the support we have from our families and we wouldn't be where we are if it weren't for you all. And for that we say thank you! We hope to continue to spread love and help to those in need. Knowledge is power, and we thank you for empowering our GPA students with the gift of knowledge.
