18.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a significant impact on our entire community. We understand that this past week has been a particularly unsettling time for everyone and we want to reassure you that we have safety systems in place in our hospitals. Paul Evans, State Manager of Healthscope SA, provides an update on our COVID-19 response.

13.01.2022 Today is recognised as International Volunteer Day. Although they haven't been on site since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we would like to use today as an opportunity to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for their hard work, support, dedication and commitment to both patients and staff at Griffith Rehabilitation Hospital. COVID-19 meant our volunteers had to cease volunteering at Griffith Rehabilitation Hospital, however some of them have continued their support by... assisting from home, for which we are thankful. Norma (pictured) has become an expert in attending Zoom meetings where her input is valuable, and she also checks over our new patient information publications via email to ensure we have Consumer Approved Publications with the CAPS logo. We look forward to welcoming our volunteers back to Griffith Rehabilitation Hospital when it is safe to do so. Happy International Volunteer Day!

07.01.2022 Today is International Day of People with Disability, and the focus of the day is Building Back Better: toward a disability inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 world. Even under normal circumstances, people with disabilities are less likely to access healthcare, education, employment and to participate in the community. At Griffith, many of our patients have disabilities, mostly due to disease processes, and our discharge planning must focus on accessibility a...nd disability inclusiveness. We are lucky to have Jeanette, one of our admission officers, working with us with her guide dog Isabella. Jeanette’s work station has been adapted to allow her, and Isabella, to continue to complete her administrative duties and maintain a productive role in the workplace. Please take a moment to celebrate people with disability. Find out more at www.idpwd.com.au/about #idpwd

03.01.2022 Star Employee of the Month Congratulations to Lachlan, one of our Enrolled Nurses who has won the Star Employee of the Month award after many nominations from both staff and patients over the time he has been working at Griffith. 02.01.2022 This week, November 8 to 15, is NAIDOC Week. Celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. This year, Tyrown Waigana, a Perth ...based artist and designer was named the winner of the National NAIDOC Poster Competition. According to Tyrown his artwork below "tells the story of how the Rainbow Serpent came out of the Dreamtime to create this land. It is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - Always Was, Always Will Be Aboriginal Land". #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek https://www.naidoc.org.au//photo-g/naidoc-poster-2020.png See more
