23.01.2022 You know I’m a huge supporter of rural women doing their thing. So I’m even more pleased when I see they give their business their all and it grows in big ways! And I can’t help but share it! Meet Kate Ross, Registered Nurse, Midwife and soon-to-be lactation consultant from @sleepeffectau. Kate offers sleep and settle support for 0-5 year olds - from any location. Originally from Narrabri, Kate is now based in Tamworth and not only covers our entire region with face to face ...and online consult support, she has also been delivering online consults across Australia. Yesterday Kate announced her brand spanking new website and it is GORGEOUS! All credit goes to another clever rural woman, @janegraystone - a friend I’ve admired for years for her amazing talents, for bringing this site to life. Make sure you check out Kate’s page, her motto being, you can’t love your baby enough (which is beautiful), and see how you can speak to a rural woman in her quest to help every family get more sleep . I seriously can’t think of any way to help us rurally than to ensure we support these amazing health services that are becoming available. Hope you all get a snooze this weekend #RuralWomen #Midwife #LactationConsultant #SleepEffect #SleepConsultant #SleepingBaby #BirthStories #RuralHealth #RuralFamilyHealth #BabyHealth #BabySleep #BabyNotSleeping #SleepAndSettle #CallTheMidwife #Midwife #Nurse #TamworthNSW #MoreeNSW #NarrabriNSW

12.01.2022 TOP 5 TIPS FOR PICKING PEOPLE TO WORK WITH IN EVENTS We all know that pulling an event together, whether for work or socially, can be hit or miss based on the team around you. So what is the key to working with, and selecting, a great event team to work around you?! 1) Figure out who you are and what you need. Firstly, you really need to do some self-reflection and think about what you bring to the table. Once you know this, it makes it SO MUCH easier to build a team be...cause you can communicate what you're doing and then be able to select them based on what you need. 2) Think about your business values. If it's important to you to spend good money on a quality venue, great food and styling, it will not work if you have someone who wants a KFC 3-piece-feed event. If you are looking at bringing someone on board to help you, make sure they complement your values. 3) Always work with a creative. Creatives are pure joy to work with and can make any simple idea come to life. I have worked with some creative directors (Jane Graystone - Image Creator & Stylist) and stylists (Clare Luxe & Humble) in the past and they just change the whole feeling. Yes, they can add an extra cost to an event, but my lord do they bring returns when you see what they can do with a concept and a space! Worth their weight in gold! 4) Go with your gut. If it's feeling right, it probably is. If it's feeling "MEH", then it's probably time to move the team member on (or not ask them to join in the first place). You usually get this feeling within the first few hours or days of working with someone on a project. 5) Always have someone who is fantastic with the budget and keeping you on track. For me, I'm NAAAHHHHTTTT a budget person (sorry Andy Rawson Baker Advisors) but I'm working on it. I am forever thankful that my first business experience was with my friend Michelle who is the shiz at budgeting and keeping me to task. It's all about finding the yin to your yang! Get planning those Christmas events (COVID-safe of course)!! (Flashback snap to Michelle & I at our first Savvy Birds event back in 2016!)

08.01.2022 Oh so golden, and so much work to make it thrive I hope for many of you that harvest is now on the downhill run! I just wanted to say, I have an absolute newfound respect for those (mostly women ), who manage so much during harvest time. The meal prep, the food deliveries, the big drives, the drink drop-offs, the scooting around to pick up things - it’s seriously a full time job! I know I certainly don’t have it as hard as many, but jeeeez I’m tired !!!... I have no idea how so many manage to juggle this having kids AND/OR a full time job! I take my hat off to you!!! You are bloody amazing! I hope wherever you are that the rain stays away as long as you need it to, so that you can finish up a cracking season! Then, let’s hope for more rain again! Big love to all of you and your friends, families and colleagues working your butts off right now! 05.01.2022 GR UPDATE So COVID has really made this year tough. Seriously, who decides to open up an events business on the eve of a pandemic?! Me, apparently . So I’ve decided that rather than trying to keep sprinting (ok walking briskly) on the hamster wheel for 2020, from November I’m going to pop GR on ice until February next year so I’m ready to roll in 2021 with all guns blazing for Women’s Week. ... Everything will still be happening as normal until November, events will absolutely be forging ahead, but I just wanted to let you know in case there are any events/social media requests on their way through. Sometimes it’s just worth taking the time to sharpen the saw so that when it’s time to go again, you’re in peak condition (psychologically working on it physically ). So if anyone needs me (aside from working for @nsw_rwn), I’ll be here - at my happy place at the pool planning a cracker Women’s Week for 2021! Get excited, it’s going to be pretty special #Rest #Reset #Restore #HamsterWheel #SelfCare #Swims #MoreeEvents #EventsBreak #Pause #Intermission #MoreePool #ArtesianSpa #WomensWeek2021

04.01.2022 Today we celebrate the International Day of Rural Women Did you know that globally 1 in 3 women works in agriculture?! Crazy! It is so wonderful that rural women are acknowledged on this day for all the amazing contributions they make, and that should be highlighted even more this year after COVID-19 and drought.... Today, let a rural woman know that you admire them by sharing a post to celebrate the International Day of Rural Women! And make sure you tag @groevents so we can share!! We also want say - the women on last nights panel for Making YOU a Priority were phenomenal. I honestly wish it could’ve been broadcast on live TV - I learnt more last night than I ever have watching a panel! A huge thank you to Amanda, Bec and Claire - you are stars! If you missed it? You can watch it on Facebook! Have an amazing day and get posting! #InternationalDayofRuralWomen #RuralWomen #WomensDay #GROevents #GRO #MoreeEvents #MoreeNSW

03.01.2022 Answering the question today that everyone is getting asked R U OK?! Let’s say it’s a simple no for many this year! But how sad that a national campaign is asking a CLOSED question to get people talking. The basics of any reflective listening exercise is to ask an open question to get people to give an open ended answer.... How about a) we ask people all year round and change this up to any of the following (not an exhaustive list) how are you travelling? How are you feeling? you seem to have had a lot going recently, how are you coping with all of that? I know you have been so anxious about COVID impacting on your job. How have you been managing that This years campaign is about the conversation that follows the question. To help people talk more - open it up to them with an open ended question - ALL YEAR ROUND! Not just today #RUOKisNotAnOpenQuestion #AskMoreThanRUOK #DoMore #BeOpen #RUOK #RUOKDay #PsychologyHelp #Depression #Anxiety #MentalHealth #MentalHealthSupport #GROEvents #MoreeNSW

If you’re Moree & District Chamber of Commerce Member, check your email for your discount code (see Promo Code) when you go to book!... See you there and thrilled to have my friend from school, the bloody clever Emilie Jirsch, joining us!!!!
