17.01.2022 We'd love to have you all here but remember ESSENTIAL TRAVEL ONLY and Stay Safe to prevent the spread of this pandemic. Groper Creek Caravan Park is only OPEN for self-contained permanent caravanners of no fixed abode and essential travellers as per current COVID-19 rulings.

14.01.2022 Planning on crossing the border tomorrow into Queensland...

14.01.2022 Egretfully Groper Creek Caravan Park is unable to accept non-essential travellers. Under latest COVID-19 directives, the exception is "where people live permanently in caravan parks or are staying in caravan parks as interim abodes where their primary residence is not available they may continue to do so with social distancing observed". If staying in a caravan park as an interim abode, you are a person here for work purposes (ie health care workers and people working on infrastructure projects); someone travelling for compassionate reasons (ie medical appointments or compassionate reasons); someone unable to return home due to distance (ie in transit); and a guest with no fixed address (ie live in your caravan or motorhome). Together we can all responsibly conquer this virus #coronavirus #visitburdekin #fishing

13.01.2022 Thanks for the visit today. Come again soon #gropercreek #visitburdekin

13.01.2022 QLD Premier's BREAKING NEWS: Start planning your holiday! We’re opening Queensland for Queenslanders from noon tomorrow. Queenslanders will be able to undertake unlimited travel, including overnight stays throughout the entire state, in a major easing of COVID-19 restrictions. More locals will be allowed in cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs, with an increase in the number of patrons from 10 to 20.... From noon on Friday, June 5, venues with more space will be allowed up to 20 people in each defined area if they follow an approved COVID Safe Industry Plan. Well done, Queensland. Our state’s outstanding response to the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed restrictions to be lifted ahead of a planned move to Stage Two originally scheduled for June 12. 12.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS: Queensland’s border will reopen on July 10 with Prime Minister Scott Morrison today forcing the issue at National Cabinet. Mr Morrison - speaking after National Cabinet this afternoon - revealed Queensland had set a date of July 10 before Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk had a chance to officially announce it herself. Soon after, her office confirmed to The Courier-Mail the border would reopen on July 10 pending a review of medical advice at the end of the month.... This is despite her office only minutes earlier saying there would be no border announcement today and no change in position. Source: Courier Mail

08.01.2022 THROWBACK Thursday: Fishermen with giant Groper caught in early 1900s at Scotty's beach where Groper Creek meets the Coral Sea. Groper Creek was named after the large fish species once caught prolifically in the Burdekin River system. (The taking of gropers is now banned - be sure to adhere to Queensland fishing regulations when visiting.) #gropercreek #visitburdekin #fishing #ThrowbackThursday

06.01.2022 We are still working towards some clarity towards the Premier's announcement minutes ago but it looks like we will be OPEN for campers and caravanners again travelling within 250km on JUNE 12. #Friyay #gropercreek #happydays

06.01.2022 A CONVOY of Tropical Coast Wanderers Caravan Club members recently converged on Groper Creek for their monthly outing. The Townsville-based group has members spanning from Ingham through to Proserpine and all were pleased they took Home Hill Boat Club Commodore & Secretary Ross & Sylvia Chapman’s invitation to visit Groper. Filling 20 van sites, the Wanderers enjoyed bird watching, walking through the parklands, fishing, a unique skittle-type game of klop (pictured), fun quizzes, wine tasting and pot-luck dinner, vowing to return. THANKS FOR VISITING US!

04.01.2022 Our public amenities block is currently getting a much-needed facelift thanks to Burdekin Shire Council and local tradies. Ok, maybe we're not getting the pictured froggy loos but will still look pretty schmick for local travellers allowed into the park on June 13.

04.01.2022 Full park sign is out tonight! Thanks to everyone who has supported Groper Creek Caravan Park and told their mates xoxo #gropercreek #visitburdekin #fishing

01.01.2022 Due to potential flooding of the Burdekin River, Groper Creek Caravan Park is closed until further notice. The last of our visitors reluctantly rolled out today but no doubt we'll see you all back soon. Safe travels.

01.01.2022 Aussie country singer Lance Friend and his wife enjoyed a relaxing stay at Groper Creek Caravan Park this week. Lance's mum Shirley Friend is also renowned in country music circles as part of the Naked Poets - it's currently Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so do yourself a favour and track down a version of Shirley's hilarious "The Mammogram". Lance has promised to return and entertain hopefully soon. #visitburdekin #gropercreek
