24.01.2022 Beautiful, everyone has a different journey x

23.01.2022 Great little video to explain how the uterus works. I cover this is my couples birth workshops and in more detail in the 5 week HypnoBirthing progam. Understanding how the body works in labour makes women much less fearful and helps them understand those strong sensations in the body.

23.01.2022 Bookings are open for pregnancy yoga and/or the 5 week HypnoBirthing Program for Jan/Feb 2021. Plan ahead to prepare physically, mentally and emotionally for a positive birth with experienced pre & post natal yoga teacher, Pamela Walker. Lovely words from my most recent Mumma! I wanted to thank you so much. When I tell people my experience I think I make it sound like a breeze. It was truly the hardest but most amazing thing I have done in my life and I am very proud of ...being able to bring Ivy into the world without too much intervention or pain relief and into a calm environment. Even the obstetrician said there must be something to this as I had a "text book" labour and did amazing for a first time mum and he was very impressed. The midwife also said she definitely did not think I was going to be the first one to deliver that day out of the 5 suites! . . . . . #womensupportingwomen #hypnobirthing #activebirth #pregnancyyoga #birthwithoutfear #birthofamama #hypnobirthingbrisbane #hypnobirthingthemonganmethod #motherhoodrising #consciousbirth #positivebirthexperience #childbirtheducation #childbirthpreparation #breathingtechniques #visualization #selfhypnosis #parentstobe #mumstobe #mumtobe #gratitude #ilovemyjob #thankyou #inspiration #youmademyday

22.01.2022 Keep going if you can!

22.01.2022 Did you know it was actually my husband that suggested I do yoga!? He thought I needed to chill My yoga journey began in 2000 to manage stress and back pain after working in hospitality. In May 2005 I completed my 200hr teacher training in the UK and after several years of teaching, I found a passion for teaching pre & post natal yoga! In recent years I have added HypnoBirthing to my skills. Yoga has helped me immensely and I love to teach others to help them find more freedom in their mind and body.

21.01.2022 These are the shorts I go on about in pre & post natal classes!

21.01.2022 Some really Interesting points here...

21.01.2022 Annie and I had lots of fun practicing this pose! With our height difference and my dodgy balancing, it provided a lot of giggles! Yoga poses don’t have to be perfect, it’s the journey to get there that is the fun. This pose used to really challenge me and now it’s one of my favourites. Half Moon Pose, want to discover how to make it fun? See you on Thursdays 6.30pm. PM or email to book. 19.01.2022 Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a debilitating form of 'morning sickness' that affects around 1% of pregnancies. Suffering from typical pregnancy nausea and the ...odd bout of vomiting in pregnancy is bad enough but for some people, having it constantly day and night can really take it's toll emotionally and physically. . There is a big difference between regular morning sickness and HG. . The most common symptoms of HG include: Constant nausea Vomiting AT LEAST 3-4 times per day. Most with HG will vomit upwards of 20 times. Inability to keep down any food or fluid - which leads to dehydration Loss of more than 5% of your bodyweight due to the constant nausea and vomiting Feeling lightheaded and dizzy . If you are suffering from continuous vomiting, It's really important that you seek help from your care provider if you are unable to keep fluids down as dehydration can set in quickly. For some with severe, cases they will have to be admitted to hospital to be hydrated via a drip. Many cases of HG can be managed with anti- emetics (anti sickness medications) and/or steroids. Some may suggest vitamin B6 or b12 and even natural supplements such as ginger but for many women with HG, even prescribed medications seldom make a difference. How it's managed very much depends on the severity of symptoms and how it's affecting your pregnancy. . There is a strong link between the pregnancy hormone HCG and nausea/vomiting. It is thought that the higher the level of this hormone, the higher chance you will have of developing HG. Risk factors include: multiple pregnancies (twins/triplets etc), family history of HG and trophoblastic disease which causes an abnormally high level of cell growth within the uterus. . HG very often lasts throughout pregnancy but some people are able to recover after a couple of months. I have been fortunate enough not to have ever suffered with this but I have cared for those who have and it truly is an awful thing for someone to go through. A note for non sufferers - this condition is debilitating and not the same as the regular morning sickness you may have suffered from or heard of. If you have a friend/relative suffering with any of the symptoms above please suggest they seek help if not already and be as supportive as you can, it really is a rough road for them! . Have you ever suffered with HG? If so what helped you to get through?

18.01.2022 The woman who cant make time for herself will never be truly happy. She will love her children. She will love you. She will smile and be pleasant and do every...thing in her power to make the world a better place for everyone else. But she will never truly be happy. And thats because she wont be happy with herself. That time she snapped at the kids and you thought nothing of it. It ate at her soul that night while she went to sleep. The time she missed that gym class because of everyone else. It wasnt about the exercise. It was about her recharging for the week. The time she quickly ducked to she shops to get something... she would have loved to stop and do her nails; but didnt want to leave you to deal with a sick kid on your own. So she rushed straight back even though you didnt need it. Its important to remember to give her time. She wont always give it to herself. She wont always recognise that she needs it. She wont even always have a plan for the time. But she will appreciate it. She wont need much. She wont waste it. And she will certainly come back feeling a million times better about herself. So when she needs to duck out. Tell her not to rush back. When she has that coffee date or gym class. Be home and remind her to leave with time to spare so shes not rushed. When she breaks a nail or comments about her regrowth; remind her to book in her next appointment. And in that moment shes been away for a while and you know shes thinking about the family again... send her a text reminding her not to rush back and to go and take more time. Do that... you wont need to do much more. But do that and she will not only love you more. But shell love herself more. And thats all you could ever want. Dont let time get in the way of her loving herself. Because when she stops; the whole world stops.

17.01.2022 I received permission to share my friend's real experience of breastfeeding her 2nd child. Thanks Jem for being so honest, so inspiring for my mummies! She also wanted to give a shout to to amazing lactation consultants and the importantce of IBCLCs. (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) Breastfeeding Arlo has already been such a different journey than with Edie. I went into this the second time round under the impression wed be pros at this. After all, I f...ed Edie for over two years with next to no complications. So this time round would be the same, right? Sinch! How wrong I was. I forgot that even though I thought I knew what I was doing, Arlo was only just learning. Hes also not Edie. Hes a different baby. He has his own latch, his own needs, his own rhythm. And it was a struggle. The first few days I was in excruciating pain, we had a couple of complications which before diagnosed and treated meant he was hungry and dehydrated, and we were all exhausted. But I pushed through because I had the support and knowledge that it would get better. Yet all I could think of the whole time we struggled was, What about the mums that dont have this support? That dont have this knowledge? What about them? Our healthcare system and Western society does new mums very few favours when it comes to sharing breastfeeding knowledge and support. The lack of confidence in mothers to be able to feed their babies and the lack of support for them to do so is widespread and heartbreaking- and ever-present. So, mamas, whether you breastfeed your baby for two days or two years, youre amazing. Youve done something so special despite all the pressure and misinformation out there. And I salute you. Edited to add: For anyone looking for breastfeeding support I HIGHLY recommend The Australian Breastfeeding Project: Breastfeeding information and support Facebook group. This huge group of breastfeeding mamas are a wealth of knowledge and the insights Ive received from this group have been invaluable. See more

10.01.2022 Only 4% of babies will be born ON their due date. 75% will be born AFTER. The average time for a first time mum to give birth is 41 weeks and 3 days and for su...bsequent births - 40 weeks and 6 days. So why is the focus so heavily on these 40 weeks! Those last few weeks can be exhausting and mentally challenging but our first lesson in learning how to surrender begins here. See more

09.01.2022 Your babys tongue tie wont affect breastfeeding. Actually no one can assess whether a tie will, or will not affect feeding based on appearance and oral ass...essment alone. What answers this questions is what symptoms are present...or not. This means LISTENING to the mother. TRUSTING her instincts. And asking the right questions. Its about the FUNCTION of the tongue and investigation is needed, over time, to assess function. The End. -Short story by The Milk Meg, Meg Nagle, IBCLC

04.01.2022 There’s so much more to getting ready for your baby than clothes, bedding, prams & baby showers. To set your family up for the best possible start feeling calm,... connected & content there are a few things you should do before baby’s born. If you haven’t quite ticked off the checklist, join me for our Free online workshop where we will be chatting about how to prepare yourselves for your baby. I’ll be covering: 1. You absolutely can prepare NOW, in pregnancy, for your parenthood journey. To reduce the ‘shock’ of the first weeks & months as Mum & Dad it is so important now to prepare your MIND for parenthood. What will your life look like, what sort of Mum & Dad do you want to be, how do you want to parent together. Plus so much more. 2. Becoming parents will change the RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR PARTNER. You will argue more, you will grow apart a bit but with the right support you will come back together again, stronger than ever in your relationship. 3. What you do now to cope with stress won’t be available to you in the early weeks & months with your baby. It’s so important to discover, schedule & prioritise NEW ways to manage the stress of parenting. But when you don’t plan for this during pregnancy, once baby arrives & you’re sleep deprived with little to no time for anything else, you’ll probably forget about what YOU NEED. I’m inviting you to join me for a FREE ONLINE WORKSHOP for expecting parents to deep dive into what you REALLY NEED TO KNOW & DO NOW to prepare yourselves for parenthood. I’m so excited to share this with you, to help you BOTH feel calm, connected & content for the start of your life as a family. For more information & secure your spot: https://mailchi.mp/ce2c855/preparing-for-parenthood-webinar Can’t wait to see you there, Rhiannon x

04.01.2022 I’m excited to be writing new class content for new and current students coming to class this week. It’s a lot to fit into the class and then sometimes my plans go out the window when students give me their class requests! It’s important for me to modify for the students' needs.
