25.01.2022 Ballard becomes Top Dog After seasons of being consistently one of Cootamundra’s best, Jordyn Ballard has agreed to take the next step & become Captain-Coach of... the Bulldogs for the first time in season 2021. After spending time playing with Canberra Raiders playing in their junior rep sides, Ballard progressed through to the Under 20’s competition with the Raiders before returning home. In between pulling the blue & white on again after arriving back in town from his stint in the nations capital & taking on the coaching reigns, Ballard has been a key player for not only Coota, but spent two seasons with neighbours Temora Dragons, where he gained plenty of admirers & has earnt a reputation among his peers & rivals as one of Group 9’s premier players. With a decision yet to be made on which direction the Bulldogs head in to play the 2021 season, the announcement of Ballard as senior men’s coach shows some stability & is no doubt a step in the right direction for Coota. The appointment will no doubt set a good platform for the club to work from to ensure not only next year, but the years following, the club itself keeps striving for improvement & can maintain a high standard off the field. The progression of the senior club is vital in continuing to provide role models for the strong junior league & league tag base the town possesses, to aspire to. Jordyn will partner Aaron Byrne in taking charge of the Bulldogs men’s side, with Jordyn’s knowledge, footballing ability & willingness to learn coupled with Byrne’s experience in the role, hopefully a formula for success. The Cootamundra Bulldogs would also like to extend a warm welcome our newest pup, Cooper Ballard, the son of Jordyn & his partner, Gab. Congratulations guys, & we look forward to seeing Cooper at Les Boyd Oval next footy season. Any interested senior men’s players should get in contact with Jordyn or Aaron, with details surrounding pre-season to be finalised in the coming weeks. See more
