25.01.2022 Using a rotary hoe is a great way to get rid of weeds without the use of chemicals, whilst simultaneously cultivating your soil which gets it ready for planting!

19.01.2022 Before, during and after of a stone path the boys and I had the pleasure of making in hill end!

19.01.2022 Creating a simple pebbled area in an unused and messy part of your yard allows you to redefine and repurpose certain sections of your garden in a cost effective way. I can already picture a nice outdoor BBQ and seated area with a few raised garden beds for some fresh herbs and veg.

18.01.2022 Before and after of a complete garden redesign and creation. The garden was overgrown and unused for many years. The clients wanted a rustic feel and a space they could enjoy and use. The clients made a special request to implement their old plough. After some mood boarding with my clients, we decided to build a low sitting, dry stone feature wall that meanders around an existing photinia with a small seating area in the sun. Additionally removed all the grass and weeds and resurfaced the area with white gravel. Quite proud of this job and it’s a nice feeling to see my clients so happy with it! Contact grow joe to have a yarn about the possibilities for your garden!

17.01.2022 Unused lawn is now a healthy and productive veggie patch

15.01.2022 EXTREME WATER RESTRICTIONS NOW IN PLACE With extreme water restrictions being implemented recently, It’s time to start drought proofing our gardens. While it may seem difficult to grow anything at all with these harsh water restrictions, the best drought proofing agent is not necessarily the amount of water you are giving it. ... It’s your soil quality, plant selection and how/ where you apply water to your garden. Soil improvement If you improve your soil with organic matter (compost)and protect your soil with mulch, it will make a huge difference to the amount of moisture your soil retains. It will also add plenty of nutrients for your plants to feed on. Plant selection We should be thinking about Australian natives that have not just survived, but thrived in Australian conditions for thousands of years. If you are after something more exotic, it’s a good idea to look at plants from similar climates like the Mediterranean, Mexican or South African climates. Water usage With the extreme water restrictions now in place we are no longer allowed to water our lawns. Lawns use about 90% of the water applied to gardens in Australia. Think about how much lawn you actually use and replace the unused with garden beds with drought hardy and tolerant natives and exotics. If you are growing veggies or non drought hardy plants, consider an under mulch watering system. Mulch covered water systems dramatically stop evaporation of water. Grow Joe is more than happy to help you sustain or create your beautiful drought proof gardens, give us a call!

Also created a stone bordered garden bed around the olive trees to host an assortment of Mediterranean styled plants and herbs such as lavender, rosemary, thyme. 05.01.2022 A nice little front garden project I’ve been working on the last couple of weeks!

03.01.2022 Autumn is here and winter is coming! That means it’s time to plant your autumn and winter crops! The general rule of thumb is that anything that is a root vegetable or a leafy green is considered a winter veggie and should be planted before winter hits. This gives the plants time to establish themselves before the harsh conditions kick in. ... A few examples in the photos from my winter crop last year! If you need a bit of help with your winter crop or wish to create one from scratch contact Grow Joe today!
