22.01.2022 It is a couple years now since (then) Rotary Adelaide West members began to follow Jacks story. What a resilient young man he is. We wish Jack and his family all the best for what we suspect will be a very bright future.

22.01.2022 "I feel concerned about coronavirus because it is a dangerous disease. Even powerful countries in the world are afraid of this disease, so I am anxious for all ...of us here since we live in precarious conditions." ShelterBox has been working in Minawao Camp in Cameroon for five years. We are currently the only organisation providing tents for displaced families like Vadzais. 22.01.2022 WA OPENS to SA Western Australia has finally opened its border to South Australia.... South Australians can now enter Western Australia without quarantining, so long as they have not been to NSW, VIC or New Zealand in the 14 days prior to arrival. The WA government requires travellers to complete a G2G Pass declaration and advises that people may be subject to a health screening on arrival and temperature check at Perth Airport. For more information about travel in Western Australia, visit www.wa.gov.au/covid19

21.01.2022 If youve ever wondered what to do with plastic bread tags (other than sending them to landfill), how about helping to convert them into a wheelchair?

21.01.2022 Talk about putting donor dollars to good use! These stats from Interplast Australia & New Zealand are seriously impressive.

President Glenda is pictured at yesterdays lunchtime Club meeting with her donation, which was included in this mornings delivery. The appeal will run until the end of August and were also collecting non-perishable foods and groceries. Its not too late to contribute. 15.01.2022 For hundreds of South Australians sleeping rough or without a permanent place to live, COVID-19 is making life terrifying, especially as the winter months set i...n. With no place to call home, and their health already compromised, theres no way to isolate or protect themselves. On top of all that, now people who are sleeping rough must do so in the bitter cold. The need in our community has never been greater and our services are under incredible pressure and with record job losses, many more face the risk of losing everything. We urgently need donations for our Winter Emergency Appeal to provide warm meals, emergency accommodation assistance and access to essential support services like medical care to as many people as possible at this critical time.

Abida and her daughter (see photo below) found themselves holding the children to stop them from drowning. As they were evacuated, they brought nothing with them but the clothes they were wearing. They had lost their stock, their cooking utensils, their bedding all of their meagre possessions. https://rotaryeclub.org.au//eclub-supports-afar-region-et/

02.01.2022 Blankets and Food Appeal Although Government support via JobKeeper and JobSeeker are helping during this COVID-19 crisis, there are still many families and individuals who are ineligible and struggling to make ends meet. As a result, charities large and small are under enormous pressure to provide essential aid not only to their traditional clients, such as those experiencing homelessness and those escaping domestic violence, but also migrants, international students refugees.... A recent press report suggested something in the vicinity of a 750% increase nationally in people turning to charities for help this winter. While our Central Market food collections for the homeless are currently on hold, we are still keen to lend a hand to those in need. Blankets If you are able to donate any blankets in clean and good condition before August 27th, theyll be greatly received. Food & Household Items The second photo is a guide to the types of non-perishable foods and groceries charities love to receive. Any form of general household product youd use on a daily basis would be great: from paper towel to toiletries, canned food, pasta, cooking oil, spices, sauces, laundry and cleaning products. Our Club welcomes public support of this appeal. Contact us via messenger if youd like to contribute.
