16.01.2022 HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES DAY 3 - Pop-Up Restaurant! Enjoy the warm nights and set up some cushions and blankets for your pop up restaurant! Why not dress up the family for a fancy dinner, put some dinner music on, have some nice dinner conversation and enjoy your night of gourmet grazing. Maybe someone takes on the waiter role for a bit of extra fun? Sometimes just a different location for meals can make it that much more inviting and everyone may even eat up all their food!

Ashley educated the children about brushing their teeth, eating sometimes/always foods, visiting the dentist and the importance of keeping our teeth HEALTHY. Not only are they able to run, skip, jump, climb, throw, hop and catch - it's an opportunity to use their outside voices, stretch their muscles, breathe fresh air and enjoy the freedom of space! 14.01.2022 HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES DAY 2: There isn’t a child who would say no to ice-cream on a hot summer day, so why not get creative and make your own in a zip-lock bag! This is a great activity that parents can easily monitor that explores scientific concepts of measurement, cause and effect and trial and error. Here’s a guide on making your own ice-cream. All you need are 4 simple ingredients and a few basic supplies! Ingredients: 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 cup of half and half (a blend of... equal parts milk and cream), 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 1/2 tablespoons chocolate syrup Supplies Used: 1 large zip-lock bag, 1 smaller zip-lock bag, ice, cup rock salt Method: 1. Add sugar, half and half, vanilla extract and chocolate syrup to the small-sized zip-lock bag and seal tightly 2. Fill the larger zip-lock bag halfway with ice 3. Sprinkle cup of rock salt over the ice Place your smaller sized bag inside the large bag and seal 4. Double-check your bags to make sure they're well-sealed. Shake bags vigorously until ice cream forms Enjoy! p.s. If you happen to take on this challenge, we would love to see some pics of your ice-cream!

12.01.2022 HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES DAY 5 - There are endless art activities for children, but here are some of our favourites at Kindalin! Some that even us Educators did ourselves growing up. Milk Carton Boats: Take an old milk carton and shape it in the fashion of a boat. You can even paint it and stick a toothpick in it with a taped flag! Test it out by putting it in water in the sink or bath. Does it float? If not, children can brainstorm on how to fix it. Take your boats to the local cr...eek and have a boat race! Pathway Chalk Murals: Get creative on your footpath or driveway with some bright coloured chalk and create a mural. A great idea is to add some water to make it wet chalk painting. This is a great opportunity to get creative and chat with neighbours on the street! Rock Painting: Go for a rock hunt, find rocks of different size, shape, textures and collect them in a bucket. Have fun painting faces or designs on rocks with your kids. You could use these as door stoppers or paperweights! We hope that you all have a relaxing and enjoyable break with the family. Whether you have the chance to do any of these activities or not, our main message to you is to get into the fun with your children and be in the moment! 06.01.2022 HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES DAY 4 - Set up the tent, bring your own sleeping bags and pillows and have a back yard camp out! Sing some campfire songs, have a chat, look for bats or other night time animals with a torch and tell some stories before sleeping under the stars. Or why not do some stargazing? Put out a few blankets and lie down in your backyard, and gaze upon the stars and the moon. Using various smartphone apps you can also show your kids how to locate Orion’s Belt and many other stars as well!
