25.01.2022 Our busy bees this week, extending our beautiful garden with succulents!

24.01.2022 A few weeks ago children at Growin celebrated Holi, the festival of colours. It was a great experience for children to explore culture and discover what Holi signifies.

24.01.2022 The kids at Growin know how to keep cool this summer. Water play helps children to develop crucial social skills when they are working with another child or a whole group. It is a great way for children to learn to share and take turns as they share the physical space and the play items in the water.

23.01.2022 This week children had their first soccer experience with Jacob from Junior Soccer Goals! He highlighted the importance of stretching and getting our bodies warm before a super fun soccer session!

23.01.2022 Toddlers and Kindys went on their first excursion of the year! Children and educators walked to the Applecross centre to join the Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm incursion. Educators highlighted the importance of road safety and the children demonstrated their understanding of this.

21.01.2022 Children at Growin had a visit from a furry friend. Being gentle towards animals teaches children about responsibility and empathy. Children are always amazed as they explore relationships with other living things (2d6).

17.01.2022 Did someone say egg and spoon race?! Children demonstrate spatial awareness and orient themselves, moving around through their environments confidently and safety as they partipcate. Balance, coordination, cooperation, and fine/gross motor skills are all developed during this experience (3b6).

16.01.2022 Nature Stamping encourages sensory play, paying attention to the way natural objects feel, look and smell. It is a great exercise in fine motor practice too!

15.01.2022 This morning children from babies, toddlers and kindy room continued to celebrate Chinese New Year. Our educators assisted children to cook a traditional dish eaten to celebrate Chinese New Year. Hands on cooking experiences help children develop pride and confidence in their skills and abilities as well as developing their senses (1b5). Children were able see, touch, smell and taste all different kinds of vegetables (5a3).

15.01.2022 Sensory Play - Wet Cotton They are perfect for our little babies. hey picked it up and held it, managed to even squeeze some water out, which really got their attention.

14.01.2022 Our babies made a recycled xylophone out of bottles. Educators assisted children in pouring water into the bottles, securing them with string and then hanging them from a frame. The sounds that came from the bottles had children mesmerised, making a fun addition to our yard.

08.01.2022 Pine Cone study - yes, what could a humble, simple little pine cone teach our children? What is sharp? What is smooth? this leads to sensory textures, how does each part feels, do the children like the feel? Why> Why not?

06.01.2022 The children at Growin have loved getting their hands dirty, showing great interest in our new worm farm. This has been explored by discovering information about them such as what they look like, their life cycle and things they eat. After meal times, children are encouraged to put their scraps in a seperate bin which they can then feed to our worms.

06.01.2022 Happy International Fairytale day! Educators and Children dressed up as their favourite fairytale character, while experiencing a day full of reading fairytale books, face painting and lots more fun! What a magical day!

05.01.2022 The children showed that they could cooperate with others and negotiate roles and relationships in the Growin Office. (2a2) Children used play to investigate and explore the idea of being and adult and working in an office. (4a3) Children also responded to this activity with such enthusiasm while being able to mirror and repeat the actions of their educatiors and friends 4a2 &4c2

05.01.2022 We have worms.... seriously! Today the children helped educators set up our brand new worm farm. Children learn to be environmentally responsible and gain an understanding of the benefits of environmental sustainability and the importance of composting and organic gardening. At each meal time, they actively participate in recycling by separating their waste into food scraps for the worm farms.

04.01.2022 Children at Growin Ardross turn into little Masterchefs! Cooking with children is a great way to teach personal hygiene, care and safety for themselves and others (3b10). It is also a great way to introduce early math and science concepts, look at our kids in action!

02.01.2022 Our Mud Kitchen helps children to improve their eye-hand coordination as well as other motor skills when they use shovels and bowls, lift and pour, mix, sit, squat, stand and carry. Adding food colouring to sand creates the topic of colour recognising and mixing!
