21.01.2022 Donna Cameron Sep 25th, 7:23am . Good morning, I just would like to thank you for the memories and events on the 50th anniversary weekend. I am a student from 1979 till 1982 and walking around the school and looking at all the work that you all put into making this possible bought tears to my eyes. I was so emotional walking a round and meeting up with my class after 30yrs which makes me wish I had of kept more in touch with everyone. This is one of my regrets. Although I do...n't live in the area and live in Brisbane, I always feel a part of me has been left in Gordonvale and always draws me back for a visit. I always feel homesick when I leave. When I was at school I never did any sports but since marrying my husband 7 years ago I do so much as my husband is blind and whilst up there we climbed the Walshs Pyramid! Was very hard going for a blind man but we did it! We will be back so thank you and I would give anything to have those years back again. My maths teacher was Frank Rich and I was bought to tears to see the hall named after Frank Rich well done to all of you regards Donna Cameron née Heidenreich. I wish I had of bought one of the bricks but if you do extend this I would definitely like to buy a brick thank you. See more

We don't appear to have a copy of the '83 magazine, the quality of the '82 magazine isn't good enough for photocopying and we think there wasn't a magazine published in '78. If you were at GSHS in any of those years and have photos, event programmes, newspaper cuttings etc could you scan them and email them to me please or let me know and I'll arrange to collect them if you live locally... and photocopy them. 21.01.2022 Message from Chris Sedgwick to all: Afternoon Yvonne, I am collating our group's photos and videos and was wondering if others were doing anything similar. Margaret Clark has sent me all of hers on a memory stick. Includes Saturday activities as well.... We have a copy of Darryl's and Jocelyn's videos. Both work well on my Windows7 laptop. Wendy and Charyl are sending theirs on a memory stick when they get home. I have a memory stick from George K and Margaret which I will be populating with all photos, so, if anybody would like to contribute or have an un-vetted copy of all then they are most welcome. Hope to have done and dusted by end of October. Therefore will return memory sticks early November. People will need to send me at least a 2GB memory stick and a self addressed pre-paid envelope. 17.01.2022 Lyndal Brimson Sep 26th, 5:14pm. I am so delighted that we made the effort and came all the way from Brisbane for the reunion and 50-year celebration. Thank you to the principal, Yvonne Gordon, Christopher Sedgwick, Jenny Verral, Darryl McKay, Jocelyn Webb, Wendy (nee Douherty), Frank Rich. Kevin Murgatroyd and all you other helpers who organised & ran the events. Very impressive. I was so delighted to see a number of my former students who recognised me after 48-49 years.... I would like to stay in touch with those I met again. The Cairns region is one of my favourite places in Australia and in the world, and we have travelled to most of Australian and to many places overseas since 2008. I'm so glad I requested far north coastal Queensland for my 1st teaching placement. I'm so glad the school had only 250 students and about 12 staff. It was a good school to be part of. I have fond memories of Gordonvale SHS and staff and students. See more

I enjoyed climbing Walsh's Pyramid towering over Gordonvale, twice with students during the winter time. No ropes needed. A wonderful view over the cane fields and surrounds. The iconic Pyramid dominates the landscape at Gordonvale.
