16.01.2022 The ACT Chief Health Officer has agreed for GIO Stadium Canberra to proceed with a crowd of around 9,600 for this Saturday’s NRL finals match between Canberra R...aiders and Cronulla Sharks. The increase in the crowd capacity follows a successful pilot to allow 6,000 spectators at the Brumbies’ grand final, and the Raiders match against the Warriors last weekend. Venues Canberra is closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation to ensure the match operates in line with government guidelines and the National COVID-19 Safe Workplace Principles. To support the increased capacity, Venues Canberra will also increase its security presence, with a focus on physical distancing, seating compliance and preventing overcrowding at locations in and around the venue. All attendees will be required to make sure they’re aware of and abide by the COVID-19 terms and conditions including: Keeping 1.5m apart from other groups. Washing /sanitising hands regularly. Sitting in their allocated seat as much as possible. Staying home if they’re unwell. You also won’t be able to bring a bag to the venue to minimise manual handling by security officers. Individual food items or other items such as nappies and baby food can be carried in clear or sealed packaging. Remember, tickets must be pre-purchased through Ticketek. As with all decisions related to COVID-19, this increased crowd capacity may need be reconsidered if there is sudden deterioration in the COVID-19 situation in the ACT. More information is available on GIO Stadium Canberra’s page https://giostadiumcanberra.com.au/covid-19-conditions-of-e/.
