24.01.2022 2019-20 Fire Season to End Across Mid-Western Regional Council Area. Thanks to the reduced bush fire threat brought on by cooler weather and above average rainf...all, the NSW RFS - Cudgegong District has announced the end to the 2019-20 Bush Fire Danger Period for the Mid-Western Regional Council area at midnight tonight (Tuesday 31 March). Ending the Bush Fire Danger Period also removes the need for landholders to get a permit from the NSW RFS prior to burning off. However, landholders and residents looking to conduct burning activities outside the Bush Fire Danger Period still must ensure the fire: - Can be contained and controlled within the specified area (be sure to check the expected weather conditions) - Does not contain toxic materials, such as rubber tyres, plastics, paint, etc; and - Does not cause an air pollution problem by producing excessive amounts of smoke. You must also check whether: - A No Burn Day or Total Fire Ban has been declared - Any other environmental conditions or restrictions apply Finally, landholders must notify all adjoining neighbours and the local Fire Control Centre (02 6372 4434) at least 24 hours before lighting up. Heavy penalties (fines and/or imprisonment) can apply for the unsafe use of fire or if your fire escapes. Dont be a fire risk to your community. Know and comply with your obligations. The last thing our #volunteer #firefighters need is to be responding to a fire carelessly maintained by a landholder. If your fire does escape make sure you report it immediately to Triple Zero (000). #nswrfs Mudgee Guardian Real FM Mudgee 2MG Mudgee Magic 87.6 Mudgee ABC Central West

16.01.2022 Notify online: www.rfs.nsw.gov/notify

16.01.2022 Landholder Burn Notifications Made Easy! A new notification procedure will come online on Monday 3 August for all landowners and property occupiers who are intending to conduct burning activities on their property. www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify.... Online notification does not remove the responsibility of the landowner or property occupier to obtain any environmental approvals they may require or a permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period and must be provided at least 24 hours in advance. Landholders and property occupiers must also provide at least 24 hours notice to all adjoining neighbours. Members of the community will still be able lodge burn notifications with the Cudgegong District via the methods below, with the information entered into the portal on your behalf: SMS - 0408 116 465 Email - [email protected] Social Media - m.me/NSWRFSCudgegong Phone - 02 6372 4434 (business hours only) #nswrfs

14.01.2022 Planning to Burn? Dont Forget to Notify. With the Bush Fire Danger Period concluding this evening, the requirement for landholders to obtain a fire permit also... concludes. However, it is important to remember that although you will no longer require a fire permit you still need to provide the NSW RFS - Cudgegong District and all adjoining neighbours at least 24 hours notice of your intention to burn. Notifying the Cudgegong District Fire Control Centre is easy! You can submit your intention to burn notice by: SMS - 0408 116 465 Email - [email protected] Social Media - m.me/NSWRFSCudgegong Phone - 02 6372 4434 (business hours only) When submitting a notification, landholders must include: - Full Name - Address (and Property Name if applicable) - Contact Number - Burn Dates (maximum one month at a time) Notifications allow for the NSW RFS to be aware when landholders are conducting burning activities to avoid wasting time of our #volunteer #firefighters attending to controlled burns. Failure to notify can result in substantial fines and prison terms for persons found to be in breach of the Rural Fires Act 1997 and its Regulations. #nswrfs Mudgee Guardian 2MG Mudgee Real FM Mudgee Magic 87.6 Mudgee

10.01.2022 Information for those in our brigade area

09.01.2022 Happy Easter to all.

09.01.2022 Fire Call - 17/02/2020 6:35PM . What would you expect a rural fire brigade to do in flood conditions ? Well..go out and fight a fire maybe ? Gulgong DC were responded to report of a fire off Wonga Roo Road in Cainbil. What made it interesting was the vast amount of rain that fell that day that flooded a good part of our brigade area. Crews eventually managed to get to the fire and walked in to find a large tree hit by lightning during the storms. The tree was deemed to be safe, and it would have been difficult to put out the tree with the muddy conditions and darkness starting to fall. Next morning two crew ventured out to put out the tree using a portable pump, hand tools and a few lengths of hose..drawing water from a nearby flooded dam.

09.01.2022 Firecalls - 27/01/20 18:30 - Gulgong DC along with Lawson Brigade, Cooks Gap , Moolarben Clandula, and Gulgong VRA , were responded to various storm related calls ranging from lightning strikes, flash flooding and trees down over roads. Crews remained on scene at various locations until returning from the the final call at 11 pm.

08.01.2022 Firecall - 30/12/19 21:32 - Gulgong DC were responded to assist Mudgee HQ , Lawson and Piambong brigades, Station 387 NSWFR and Mid-Western Regional Council staff with an ignition at the Mudgee Waste Facility. Gulgong 1 assisted with water supply and Gulgong Pumper was utilised for direct suppression using our pumpers roof monitor. A council dozer contained then opened and spread the burning material in what was a very smooth operation.

01.01.2022 One extreme to the other. With the downpour, sound and light show , you will see lots of water across the road in our area. Please think twice before trying to cross it. Its just not worth the risk. Adding to that ... the risk of trees across roads. Take it easy driving out there.

01.01.2022 Fire Call - 05/04/2020 4:07 AM . No chance to get that extra hour sleep in with our second call for the night. Brigade responded to remove two trees from Goolma Road that had fallen after the rain we have had. One tree had completely blocked the road while the other was enough to be annoying and a potential danger. Crews returned home just after 5AM.
