24.01.2022 This little Hillgrove ram lamb has found the dog bed in our lounge room and lays in it every chance he can get. He’s inside full time because just after he was born, a crow pecked a deep hole near his anus and we are treating him every day. He was also fly struck when we found him, which is another reason to keep him inside. He has a towel for a nappy because I don’t want to cover his bum. He is doing very very well. Often lambs don’t survive crow bites due to infection. Crow beaks are filthy. He is a triplet and three days old. Unfortunately his mother has mastitis and so I’m bottle feeding the other two lambs as well.

20.01.2022 The first three new little Hillgrove Babydoll lambs arrived today. The first was the little boy in the yellow jumper. He’s a perm, and very small and weak. But he’s drinking from his mum so we are hoping he’s going to be alright. In the photo he’s sitting down and drinking while his mum is lying down. The second were boy and girl twins. I wonder how many will arrive tomorrow?

14.01.2022 Hillgrove Jessica who needs shearing.

13.01.2022 Remember Hillgrove Chester, the ram who had an abscess on his cheek? These are the before and after photos. As you can see it’s almost healed. We ended up taking him to the vet who found he had a second abscess behind the first (or something like that). Notice how long the vet had to make the incision. That’s how much yucky stuff had to be drained. Hillgrove Chester is fine now.

13.01.2022 The Hillgrove Babydoll rams lambs are approaching 12 months of age now, with most born early September 2019.

13.01.2022 Hillgrove Isabelle. Now 11 months old.

10.01.2022 Just sharing a great photo of one of the Hillgrove Babydoll rams.

05.01.2022 This is one of our lovely Hillgrove Babydoll ewes. She has two gorgeous little ewe lambs. She is also an amazing mum. Why? Because about two weeks ago we discovered another Babydoll ewe dead in the paddock. We suspect snake bite as she was a young ewe. She left her three week old ram lamb and this little ram lamb has been adopted by this ewe with no help from us at all. When we moved all the Babydolls into the yards to locate the orphan ram lamb we realised this ewe was letting him drink. So we left them together in the yards and now the ram lamb is flying and thinks this ewe is his mum. The ram lamb is the middle lamb in the picture.

03.01.2022 This is our new little poddy Babydoll girl who was born on Sunday. She doesn’t have a name yet. She was a twin whose mother rejected her so she’s come to live with us but during the day, if it’s warm, we put her with the other Babydoll lambs. She looks peaceful but she’s actually a live-wire who’s never still.

01.01.2022 Hillgrove Nellie.

01.01.2022 My mum is so comfortable I think I’ll have a little snooze. Hillgrove Babydoll lamb sleeping on top of her mum.
