12.01.2022 Every week I do a lap of my grove to say hi to my girls all 750 of them, its a 4.1 kilometres walk up and down the 30 rows! Anyway today was about more colour, only this time not edible, I colour coded the four olive varieties Ive planted in my grove by colouring the top of the stake in each tree, purple = frantoio, orange = correggiola, yellow = coratina and green = picual, all were selected for their olive oil quality and tolerance of the harsh climate here (horribly hot, disastrously dry and cripplingly cold). I mean olives are truly amazing, my ‘girls’ have only been in the ground 10 months and have endured drought, bushfires, heatwaves of over 43 degrees C, grasshopper plagues, kangaroos knocking them over and me learning in the job and they are flowering!
