25.01.2022 National Tree Day Yesterday we celebrated National Tree Day. Whilst Planet Ark cancelled all tree planting events in the communities due to Covid, they still encouraged people to get out and plants trees in their own backyards, so thats exactly what we did. Our kinder children watched a video about trees during group time and then spoke about all of the features of a tree. This led to a collaborative art experience where we recreated a tree as a group project. We used na...tural materials alongside recycled materials to make our wonderful creation. Afterward we practiced our writing skills by labelling our masterpiece. We also spent a great deal of time outdoors and all the children and learning rooms participated in planting a tree or plants in our very own gardens.

25.01.2022 National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) Yesterday was NSS an annual campaign that aims to encourage more young Australians to read and enjoy books. It is a fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian childrens book that explores age-appropriate themes and addresses key learning areas of our National Curriculum. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in librar...ies, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. This years book was Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas written and illustrated by Lucinda Gifford . We registered and took part in this amazing initiative, and invited our children to come dressed up in a chicken theme, at 11am our children along with thousands of other children throughout the country all enjoyed this beautiful story. What a fun day the children shared and we had some of the cutest little chicken costumes throughout our learning rooms. A special thanks to our families for getting involved and supporting this initiative. This book can be purchased at Big W or any other participating book store for $10 should you wish to enjoy this story at home. #gumbootselc #sunbury #nationalsimultaneousstorytime #nss2020 #whitneyandbritneychickendivas #literacy #earlychildhoodeducation #childcare

15.01.2022 When creating learning environments for the children, we like to bring different elements to the experience. Adding different elements and layers allows the children to have a deeper involvement and enhances the childs learning and discovery. Colour exploration is currently a strong focus in the Ladybugs (toddler 2) room, so we decided to bring a different style of creative expression into our arts. The children have been exploring the safari area within the room and have shown a strong interest in this area. So bringing the two together, we created some animal foot stamping pieces. However, we have options available to support you so please discuss with me, or our centre managers first before making the decision to terminate care. To our amazing team of educators, once again a HUGE thanks to you all for showing up to work each day to continue educating and caring for all the beautiful children. I am so blessed to have you all on my team and cant thank you enough. To all our families a special thanks for your ongoing support during this difficult time.
