23.01.2022 Stella Rosa first cross andalusion sire Diestro DiNero Dam Group 1 thoroughbred mare Precious....she is beautiful example of a breeding program here at Gumnut Farm

22.01.2022 This is the breed "Akhal-Teke", out of Turkmenistan. It is a very old breed and known for its metallic sheen. The sheen is a result of the opaque core of the ha...ir being narrower or even absent, allowing the light to shine through the hair - except it refracts it a little to give that shimmery golden look. They come in many colors. This one is called "Cremelo". See more

17.01.2022 our first Andalusian ... what a magnificent horse he was ... Tom and Talenta are still with me in their mid 20s ... just love this breed - his genetics along with El Gran Senors are in my latest 2020 foals ... he was 16.3 hands ...

17.01.2022 BLUDDY At the moment we have 24 horses here from the stud mares and foals, from rescue ...and donations of horses who have problems ...Every horse we have has... been instrumental in creating the therapy EMRT and have been part of the Equine team teaching practitioners from all over the globe . .this is a tribute to Equus College Bluddy He was named GF Buddero's lad his mum (dam) was a thoroughbred Eventful Lady his grand father father (Chief Sundance USA)held the world record for 8 Fur for many years ... His father (Sire) was our resident Spanish stallion Buddero ... a couple of photos here ... Bluddy was named from Buddy and Lady ... he was so sweet - he was home started; very easily and gradually the biggest issue I see with people with Andalusian is because they are SO trusting SO willing and TRY so hard to understand what you want of them - people do not give them enough time to digest to learn and grow ... because they are so willing its easy to miss out and over face them - ... they are not just a horse they are different ...they have a very strongly imprinted cultural background of DNA based behavior .. .. Bluddy was born a week premmie so was a little weak ...and EMRT was used to strengthen his core .... he recovered from birthing within a day so health wise he was very good .. EMRT was used mainly as a maintenance especially during his starting under saddle and for his gelding op... he had one off spring (accident) before he was gelded !!! ..thank you Bluddy we love you See more

16.01.2022 The photo is showing the uncertainty in the eye of a little foal of what her future is to be .......The government hasn't listened to the pleas of the horsem...en and women ... and the culling of the Brumbies in all states is about to commence What can I say my whole mission in life has to be in to help Horses .. to be in a country that does this .....killing of the horses that are Wild and Free..... and for me the basis of the gentle therapy EMRT are these horses that came in from the outback to go to war in the Middle East ...There horses from the Australian bush...this beauty ...freedom ...and service to man ..that these horses represent was the start of my story .... I'm so sad to see that this killing is still happening in Australia ...I thought we had grown and come to an understand of compassion ..beauty and dignity of life....unfortunately this is the way of this world.. this planet ....we live on.... here the destruction of these magnificent and beautiful animals continues unabated and pleas for saving them go ignored.... this is horrific... all we can do his to keep doing what we do... helping and healing with our hearts ..with love and compassion... but not in ignorance or ignoring of what is going on.. .. by being part of the solution.. not part of the problem ..and ignoring it is allowing the problem to continue ... I've always said I'm here to be the horses voice I'm asking you also to in your own way... be the horses voice that you are working with... that you are helping... that you are healing ...and remember always to come from the heart with love compassion and empathy .....that is the only way to raise the vibration... the frequency of this world in order to survive in its full magnificence of beauty and wonder...thankyou Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

11.01.2022 The girls of Gumnut Farm doing their thing...

08.01.2022 THE CARTHUSIAN HORSE From ancient times, the horse has played an important role in our culture, a fact which has been demonstrated through numerous pictorial te...stimonies. In the Iberian Peninsula in particular, it is known that horses already formed part of the everyday life activities in the earliest civilisations. These activities were to gain importance in parallel to the rise of the large cities which spread across our land and whose main writers were to praise the magnificence of the horse. The origins of the influence of the horse and, in particular the Andalusian horse, within our culture coincides with the flourishing of the first large civilisations in the Peninsula. The Carthaginians incorporated large numbers of horses into their armies due to their strength and endurance. Later, the ancient Romans were capable of appreciating the bravery of the Andalusian horse and used this breed to its full potential both as a means of transportation in civilian life, as well as in the frequent violent conflicts, as a sign of distinction reserved for kings and emperors. Horses were also selected for the events in the Roman Circus. The importance of horses, and even the equine culture which existed in the Iberian Peninsula at that time, can be clearly seen in the written testimonies which have been documented by some of the great classical writers such as Homer, Xenophon, Virgil or Pliny. The invasion of the Germanic hordes did not have an influence on the characteristics of the Andalusian horse. This can be explained by the fact that these invaders made their entry into the Iberian Peninsula largely on foot and the few specimens of horses which were brought into the Peninsula did not mix in significant numbers with the autochthonous herds, given that, in addition, Roman laws were upheld in defence of the Spanish specimens. Towards the Middle Ages The Arabs organised their armies to include a light cavalry, which was almost exclusively formed by Andalusian horses. This light cavalry was important in the Arab expansion in Spain. From their first contact with the breed, the invaders admired the virtues of the Andalusian horse and their great triumph lay in conserving and strengthening the characteristics or the Spanish race itself. This led to the creation of several important breeding centres and horses were even sent as gifts to Constantinople, Baghdad and other major cities throughout the Islamic Empire. The importance that the Arabs gave to horses during their reign in Spain is reflected in the origin of the words caballero (gentleman / knight / horseman) and caballerosidad (gentlemanliness / chivalry) originating in the Middle Ages to classify with honour the owners of these prized animals and their virtues, respectively. The internal struggles of the Muslim rulers and the long years of re conquest decimated the horse population. The considerable increase in agriculture and farming activities from the end of the re conquest, in addition to the low demand for the use of horses for purposes of war, saw horses being replaced by mules, which were much more practical for hard work. Horses had to be protected from undesirable cross breeding through various government decrees, along with the intervention of religious orders, which protected horses within their monasteries, as was the case of the Carthusian monasteries. The Carthusian Monks From its foundation towards the end of the XV century, the Monastery of La Cartuja has been converted into the cornerstone of the Jerezano thoroughbred horses. For three centuries, which coincided with the centuries of greatest splendour of the kingdom of Spain, the Carthusian monks established a breeding stock which, through time, would be converted into one of the most celebrated and appreciated stocks in the world. The exemplary livestock management, carried out in the surrounds of the splendid Renaissance building, situated in an exceptional geographical location in terms of climate and fertility, where the universally renowned Jerez wines are also grown, was interrupted at the beginning of the XIX century as a result of the War of Independence and coincided with the years of splendour in Spain and, as a consequence, of its horses . ***** Information for this post was courtesy of Yeguada de La Cartuja English Website: www.yeguadacartuja.com/en/carthusian-horse/

03.01.2022 Why have I never thought of this!?

02.01.2022 It’s the control of the feet through the mind that a person [should be] after. If you’ve missed that on the ground, [from] the start, why you’ve missed the par...t that means the most to the horse. The person should be focused on getting the best possible connection with the horse on the ground - through feel - if they want to have those parts of the horse available to them when they ride." - Bill Dorrance See more
