25.01.2022 It’s holiday time! Have a wonderful and safe two week break. Students return to school Monday 12th October.
25.01.2022 As part of their Science unit 5/6A have been exploring different types if shelters. For NAIDOC week they used natural resources to make models of traditional shelters. They collected items from the outfield and built structures that would protect against sun and weather.

24.01.2022 Something incredible just happened at GPS!!! Our first DEADLY DENI award was presented to Flynn. It takes 600 stickers to fill a Deni a chart, which means that staff at GPS have caught Flynn being a safe, responsible and respectful student over 600 times this year. You might notice the amazing new Deni badges that students are presented with when they reach this final PBL reward level. ... We are super proud of you Flynn!
24.01.2022 Today our infants students competed in a mini-Olympics as part of their weekly sport activities. Students were placed into teams and enjoyed a variety of activities.
23.01.2022 K6MC have finished their unit on sustainability and are very proud of all their hard work over the term. They look forward to taking care of our planet.
22.01.2022 ~Lest We Forget~ Gunnedah Public School will hold a special commemorative service at 11am. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions, members of the public are unable to attend.
21.01.2022 2A’s Pop-Up Restaurant. Students in 2A treated family and friends to a delicious lunch of lasagne, salad and garlic bread. The students of 2A harvested the veggies from our garden that were used in the salad. What’s even more impressive, is that the students made their own pasta from scratch for the lasagne.

17.01.2022 Our kindergarten students are excited for their local excursion tomorrow! Students will walk to the Rainbow Serpent Water Feature and Wolseley Park tomorrow between 9am-11am. Please ensure students arrive at school on time, and bring a hat and water bottle. No special arrangements are required, just arrive at school as normal. 09.01.2022 Today Parker from 1N was challenged with the Roald Dahl book, ‘George’s marvellous medicine,’ and rose to the challenge. He shared his brilliant reading with Mrs D and Mrs Mac, who were both very impressed.
08.01.2022 ****EXCITING NEWS**** Our Early Birds program will now be running in Term 4. We are so excited to see our future kindy students and support them as they transition to kindergarten. The Department of Education still has restrictions that we must follow to ensure the safety of all. We are still finalising details according to the required COVID-19 restrictions, so please stay tuned for further details. ... If you are yet to enrol your child for kindergarten 2021, please do so immediately so that your child can participate in this fantastic opportunity. Enrolment packs can be obtained from our school office and all local pre-schools.
08.01.2022 ~Kiss and Drop~ The cul-de-sac area is used as a kiss and drop zone. Please ensure you drive as far forward as possible before saying goodbye to your child and then have your child exit the car safely. Parents are encouraged to stay in their car so that everyone can drive in and out quickly. ... The quick nature of this zone ensures everyone’s safety as we shouldn’t have a build up of cars out into Bloomfield St. If you’d prefer to walk your child to the gate, or speak with other parents please utilise Bloomfield St gate. Thank you for helping us keep our students, staff, families and the community safe.
07.01.2022 Today is Indigenous Literacy Day. Our students joined a virtual celebration to acknowledge this day. Indigenous Literacy Day is designed to engage the nation in the value of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples’ first languages.

07.01.2022 Gardening at GPS. Did you know, all students at GPS take part in regular gardening lessons with a specialist teacher. Students are involved in the planning, preparation and harvesting stages of gardening. They also use the vegetables harvested from the garden in cooking lessons and for our Pop-Up Restaurants.

06.01.2022 ~NAIDOC Week at GPS~ Gunnedah Public School acknowledge the Gomeroi people as the traditional custodians of the land on which we learn and play. GPS students celebrated NAIDOC week earlier this year. As we continue to embed Indigenous perspectives as part of our everyday teaching and learning, we will once again acknowledge the importance and significance of this week.
