20.01.2022 Why are black cats associated with Halloween? Because it was deemed a poor omen and bad luck to have one cross your path. Because they are difficult to see in the dark where evil things dwell. Because every witch in history has had a black cat sidekick? Don't believe the hype. Black cats are just as loving and cheeky as their coloured or patterned counterparts. ... Let us see your beautiful black kitty's.

17.01.2022 Spring is here and we all know what that means. The arrival of warmer weather and.... fleas! During times of warmer weather a flea's life cycle speeds up and flea eggs develop into adults much faster. In cool temperatures, this will take 140 days, but in warmer tempertures flea eggs can become reproducing adults in just 22 days! In these conditions your pet and household can become infested very quickly. So how do you get rid of fleas from your home?... 1. Treat all your pets for fleas. Even if you only see one scratching assume they all have fleas, wether cat or dog, treat everyone! 2. Wash your pets bedding and toys using a hot cycle and lay in the sun to dry. Wash anywhere you pet likes to sleep and lay aswell, for example the lounge or your bed too. 3. Vaccum all floors and lounges regularly. Including your car if necessary. 4. In severe flea infestations, a flea spray may be necessary to kill large numbers of fleas throughout your home that live in your furniture and carpets. Make sure you read the safety instructions. By far, the best way to help avoid a flea infestation is to keep your pet protected against fleas with regular flea prevention. After all, keeping up with regular treatment is a lot less hassle than trying to evict fleas from your home and pets, so give us a call on 67421834 to ask about our flea prevention products!

15.01.2022 A late Christmas gift for Melinda and her family this year! Their cat 'Milo' went missing 6 weeks ago without a trace and he was found by another local recently. After checking for a microchip today, we called Melinda's number and reunited her and her family with their missing kitty. If not for the microchip Milo would not have made it home again. We just love a happy ending! ... Moral of the story... Microchip your pets!!

15.01.2022 Ever wonder how old your pet is compared to us? If you own a dog, you've probably heard this rule: 1 year for your dog equals 7 years for you, and similar for cats. Turns out, the math isn't that simple. Animals mature more quickly than we do early on. So the first year of your fuzzy friend’s life is equal to about 10-15 human years and changes as they get older. Size and breed also play a role in their physical and mental age.... Below are charts to convert your pets age to human years and should be used as a basic guide only!!

15.01.2022 To all our kitty cat owners. A gentle reminder to please bring your beloved cats and kittens to the clinic in a secure cat carrier. It is for the safety of your pet, and yourself that your cat is confined. Without confinement your cat could run away from fright, become injured trying to escape or you could be biten or scratched trying to restrain them. Cheap carriers can be found at local bargain stores so please keep your pets safe and secure.... Thank you Gunnedah Veterinary Staff.

12.01.2022 When was the last time your pet had a dental check-up? Dental care is a crucial part of keeping your pet happy & healthy. Keep them smiling this Dental Month contact us today to book in your free dental consultation in August only

08.01.2022 *UPDATE* Congratulations on those who guessed 8 puppies! Born yesterday. Well done Mumma 'Lulu' on your pups. How many puppies do you see?? ... Did you know once your dog is far enough along in her pregnancy we can take a radiograph (x-ray) and try to count how many puppies she will have? It can be a difficult job counting puppy spines as they tend to overlap each other, so xrays are used as a rough guide only. 'Lulu' came in this week with a belly full of puppies. How many do you see? (We will update this post with the answer when the puppies are born )

02.01.2022 Be careful this Easter break! Chocolate is for human consumption only. Chocolate is toxic to cats and dogs because it contains substances known as methylxanthines, specifically caffeine and theobromine. Depending on your dog’s weight, even small amounts of chocolate can be very bad for your dog. ... While there are some people who say their dog has eaten chocolate and experienced no adverse effects, like any other medication or potential toxin their reaction is dependent on a number of factors. The determining factors is the type of chocolate ingested, amount ingested and weight of your pet. If your dog has ingested a potentially toxic amount, they will begin to show signs and symptoms of poisoning between four to 24 hours after eating the chocolate. Early signs include: Gastrointestinal upset Vomiting Diarrhoea Excessive urination Increased thirst Signs can also include: Hyperactivity Increased heart rate Hyperthermia Pancreatitis If you think your pet has injested chocolate over the Easter break please give us a call. We have a Vet available after hours on 67421834
