21.01.2022 Just back from an awesome week long trip consulting for DPD (UK world leaders of date palm tissue culture plants) in Bangkok and regional Thailand travelling with DPD's Jane Chalk and Alastair Arnold from the UK. There is great excitement surrounding the emergence of a new date industry in Thailand. Thank you to everyone for showing us your farms and nurseries. Some really remarkable growth rates and yields from Barhee date palms. There's a lot to like about Thailand, not only about date production but also beautiful countryside and very friendly people. Thanks to DPD for inviting me to travel with Jane and Alastair.

06.01.2022 Last week we started off September with -2 degrees Celsius which is typical Riverland conditions for this time of the year. Our palms are just beginning to push through flowers for this coming season.

05.01.2022 From the 30 varieties we are evaluating at Gurra Downs some have a tendency to provide 2 crops in a year. Photo shows recent flowering event plus fruit sizing up from an earlier out of season flowering event.

05.01.2022 Announcing the availability of Fard 4 male for sale. This has been a rewarding collaborative project between The Northern Territory Government - Arid Zone Research Institute Alice Springs and Gurra Downs. We were involved in exporting Fard 4 male, Glen Oliver male and Hayani offshoots to DPD Ltd - Date Palm Developments UK in 2015 where they were initiated on cultures and imported back into Australia by Gurra Downs.
