25.01.2022 B E H I N D T H E S C E N E S : Earlier in the year I was commissioned to come onboard with an amazing project by @cityofadelaide and their @splashadelaide initiative. This ‘Splash-A-Fash’ program is a multifaceted platform to create a supportive and marketed community for our local and emerging fashion designers! Sadly, because of the Coronavirus all things have understandably has been put on ice for the moment. My post today is of one the many hand-made, designed... and installed pieces I created on the request of @sophieandsj who is the Wiz-Kid at the wheel, and who kindly asked me to provide some visual ‘vision’ for this projectI will reveal more of this work in the coming months. This image of our illuminated drapes are from the interior of the Splash-A-Fash destination boutique. This vacated tenancy in the Central Market Arcade, adjacent to @adelaidecentralmarket has been decked-out and revived to physically host the many moving parts that this program will offer. My job was to reimagine the space and existing fixtures, and coordinate, design and create new fittings and decor to provide an amp’d-up and visually captivating place. In doing so I needed to provide flexibility and multi-functional pieces, that will accomodate each participating designer, community gatherings and also the visiting public. This energetic, electric blue sateen is seen only from within, with a crazy, crushed velvet, eden green layer presented to those passing by the shops external windows. My immense thanks to my beautiful Mumma and HERO for her skills and expertise in helping me create these bespoke curtains and for seeing-out my big idea’s’ Word to the wise.sewing meters of crushed velvet is not for the faint hearted! 18.01.2022 Gus Gus The Studio Wing: Dressed To Impress. I’ve recently had a wonderful opportunity to come on board with @unleyshoppingcentre as their new in-residence Visual Merchandiser! It’s been a busy few weeks working with their Super-Star Centre Manager, to reimagine and create a new approach to their bespoke mannequin display.... Out of storage we’ve modified and reintroduced a dais, where our mannequins will now take centre stage. In addition, we have made-up a specialised dais fabric drape, which will host this fashion centre piece throughout summer. As well as rotating, coordinating and styling looks from a selection of Unley fashion retailers fortnightly, I am supporting this project by making and sourcing these unique pieces, such as the dais and it’s new cover, to help develop a display presentation that is uniquely Unley SC. Watch this space for more exciting VM additions to the mall in the coming months too! This dais drape especially needed a mention..We have made it with purpose, to create a ‘pop’ in a busy open mall arena, to be neat & functional and importantly a sustainable investment piece that can be re-used. My biggest thanks to the immense talent and skills of my Fabulous Mum, who took on the challenge of designing and making this first piece with me. She is a Seamstress Guru & literally my ‘Woman behind the Wo-Man!

Steph, you are such an asset to our industry. Thank you for sharing all your immense knowledge, experience and warmth with us on the day. We love you and what you do! Welcome to the Gus Gus Archives A trip down memory lane and dipping back into works created over the years for various clients, and a multitude of places and spaces. Carmen Miranda Caricature Created and designed for a window display for ’Moca Bonita’ - A custom made, Brazilian shoe store in Norwood Parade 2008.... Sadly, I have lost all imagery of the completed window presentation! All I have left is this captured moment of the ‘Tutti-Fruitti’ lady, straight after I completed the 1.5 meter prop. 13.01.2022 The Studio Wing.....It’s Christmas This evening I’ll have the pleasure of being apart of the @flightcentreau South Australian Christmas Event @lenzerheiderestaurant My role will be all Art’s & Craft! I’ll be hosting a Christmas Wreath making station as apart of the evenings festivities! I’m looking forward to being amongst the celebrations and hopefully discovering some talented Twisted-Willow Weavers and Decorators, amidst the prossecco and nibbles! Here is a sample of t...he gorgeous items I’ve sourced especially for the eve. I’m immensely thrilled to be invited by Flight Centre. I’ve come onboard to not only host and guide the guests on putting together a hand-woven wreath, but I’ve also coordinated all the materials, styled and budgeted for this this special evening. This is what I do! All my dear clients, new and existing often turn to me to create a visual concepts for events, presentations and installations. I also take the reins, source, coordinate and pull together every element that’s involved and produce the finished product - All boxes ticked! Love it! 06.01.2022 G R E A T S C O T T Look at this grand structure @uniofadelaide I had the privilege of seeing this side of the Scott Theatre, last week, out on a little work assignment.So many of our educational buildings in SA were built during 50’s to 70’s. The wings of this structure alone, say so much about the consideration of aesthetics and function combined, during the thoughtful and game changing design process of this era. The collaboration of textures, lines and positioning! Gorgeous!

01.01.2022 Gus Gus@unleyshoppingcentre NKOTB - New Kids On The Block Well.these gorgeous, all glossed-up beauties will be making a re-appearance soon in the mall at Unley Shopping Centre!In late 2019, I had the absolute privilege of working again with Robyn, the Centre Manager at Unley. Robyn saw the simple but consistent benefit of having a permanent mannequin grouping presented in the mall, to showcase the fashion retailers garments as they rotate through new collections. ...YES!! Robyn engaged me to help her find some different and high-quality mannequins, that would be somewhat unique to her Centre. I sourced out a number of styles from multiple overseas suppliers and we ended up choosing a collection of bespoke mannequins, that I haven’t seen displayed here in Australia....as yet! It’s one of the elements of my work that I love.to source and create a personalised and tailored collection of purposeful pieces that serve the centre community for years to come! Whist engaging with Robyn during the process, I took the reins and coordinated all elements to get them here, including coordinating the manufacturing, shipping, importing, delivery and to the final and exciting part.installing and introducing them to their new home!! These delightful girls are modern in design, yet classic and respectful to any age demographic that may feature on and adorn them! I’m looking forward to seeing you all again soon and hit the re-set button. I’ve missed you all there at Unley. See more
