24.01.2022 Morning breaky! :) For great gut health, were always aiming to have at least 7 cups of plants per day (5 veg, 2 fruit) and herbs totally count as plants! Herbs arent just silly garnishes (well, they can be that too if you like) theyre an awesome way to boost your plant intake, and plants feed our guts vital fibre. So, add herbs whilst your cooking and sprinkle on top for great gut health. Toasted homemade seed bread (recipe and vid on my website - link in my bio) with full... fat butter 2 free range eggs, scrambled with 2 tablespoons coconut cream, onion, parsley & basil Free range rasher bacon cooked in the oven on 180C for 20 mins Enjoy!

19.01.2022 Repost from @jj.virgin Deprivation is not in my vocabulary I dont believe you need to sacrifice your favorite foods to be healthy and #fit. Instead, tune in to the sneaky places the common #highIntolerancefoods hide....you know, the ones that sabotage fat loss and trigger weight loss resistance. ... Youre probabaly familiar with the usual suspects, but sadly even so-called #healthyfoods can trigger an immune response and miserable symptoms like #bloating, headaches and #fatigue. The good news is, once you get the hang of it, nearly any food or drink becomes an opportunity for a low-sugar impact alternative that eliminates food intolerances without sacrificing flavor or satisfaction. Here are a few easy-to-make, equally satisfying lateral shifts. Swap and enjoy! Trade your soymilk for unsweetened coconut or almond milk. Both of these milks have got way more going for them than nutrient-stealing soymilk. Almond milk provides a rich calcium source, and coconut milk provides immune-boosting lauric acid plus. Swap your ice cream for no-sugar-added coconut ice cream. Ice cream is a perennial favorite, but most varieties come loaded with sugar and dairy that create food intolerances. Swap pasta for spaghetti squash or red lentil or black bean pasta. Conventional pasta comes loaded with #gluten but lacks #nutrients. Swap #sugar or #artificialsweeteners for erythritol or stevia. Sugar is sugar is sugar, no matter what pretty name you call it. Swap #eggs for a #proteinshake. Im not entirely anti-egg, but if you make them an every-morning staple, youre paving the way for #foodintolerances. Swap #peanutbutter for #almondbutter: All these swaps are pretty darn easy, but this one might be easiest. Almond or other #nutbutters pack equal satisfaction without peanut butters reactivity, #mold, and other problems.

19.01.2022 Besides being a superfood, #asparagus also has anti-inflammatory benefits. Asparagus is an anti-bloating superfood. Sure, it makes your urine smell, but it also makes you pee, period helping you flush all that excess water, thus relieving any discomfort and bloat. It also contains prebiotics, which helps support the growth of 'good' bacteria, according to Sass. This helps maintain a healthy balance in your digestive system to prevent and/or reduce gas. The vegetable contains soluble and insoluble fibers, which helps promote overall digestive health.

19.01.2022 Repost from @meg_langston _______ Too much iron in the body can impact the gut-brain connection... Many of us have heard of the gut-brain connection or the Enteric Nervous system, (ENS). This is the system where the gut and brain communicate back and forth with one another. When our gut has disruption in it via bacterial overgrowth and infections, symptoms like anxiety and depression can arise. How iron plays a role? Most of us have TOO MUCH iron in the body, not too little. We get excess iron in the body from birth control pills, doctors prescribing iron, not having a period, deficiency in minerals like magnesium and bio available copper and fortified foods. Iron directly has an effect on the gut because it FEEDS and keep alive BAD or opportunistic bacteria. When we have an over abundance of bad bacteria to good bacteria (we are 10-1 bacteria to human cells) it will negatively impact the gut-brain communication. Here are 3 things you can do now to help with iron overload in the body: 1. Donate blood, women who are still menstruating should donate 1-2x a year. Menopause women 3-4x a year. (If you have lyme disease or other autoimmune it may require closer to 3-4x a year even if menstruating). 2. Get off birth control and make sure you have a proper period bleed. This is part of the body's natural recycling system where it gets rid of excess iron. 3. Support the minerals which help balance protein: Bio available Copper and Magnesium.

18.01.2022 Its Friday and it is a kefir smoothie kinda morning Just one glass of kefir has 120 BILLION live bacteria, & 15 different strains of probiotic cultures - which give my kidlets (& I) a supercharged & healthy gut & microbiome. The thing to remember when having probiotics is that you need to have a healthy microbiome, to begin with, otherwise probiotics dont do much of anything.... Let me put it this way: If you build a new housing estate, & people start moving in, but there are no facilities (eg; shops, schools, medical facilities, parks, etc) then pretty soon, theyll all move out again. Its the same for the billions of bacteria in probiotics wanting to move into your gut city. Without a happy, healthy microbiome already existing in your gut, then all those millions of probiotic cultures dont stick around & youve pretty much wasted your money. So focus on repairing your gut for 2 weeks by: - increasing the amount & diversity of your vegetables - reduce or eliminate processed foods - increasing prebiotic foods (green bananas, raw onion & garlic) Now its time to SUPERCHARGE your bacterial count with probiotics, such as kefir & enjoy benefits including great digestion, moods & immunity

12.01.2022 #Repost Lewis Howes - Well said People love to talk bad about others. Why? They are so frustrated at their inability of chasing what they want so they try to make others feel small. ... They doubt their own abilities so much that they attacks and troll to try to make people who DO share their art, books, videos and work in the world, feel like they shouldnt be. Feedback and coaching is important in order to grow and improve, but never let the haters keep you from loving what you do. You have a mission and its to share your creativity with humanity. And always be reminded that when they do this they are in so much pain when they see you achieving and sharing your gifts, because they lack the belief to do it themselves. See more

11.01.2022 Be the woman of your dreams, not someone else's. Read that twice. As we prepare for 2021, take time to think about: - the woman you've been this year... - the woman you most want to be - the goals you can set / steps you can take to move towards becoming her Perhaps you want to be more courageous, pursue new interests, chase a new dream, be bold, unapologetic or stand up for yourself more often. Or to be more present, have greater awareness, listen with both ears, have more tolerance or stop judging others. Maybe you want to implement and practice self care: meditate, move more, speak kindly to yourself, say affirmations, have a daily gratitude practise, love your body or go on a retreat. Take time to think about what's calling you and move in that direction, and remember, whatever it is, consistency is key

10.01.2022 Today in my 1-minute wellness tip, well talk about #squat The almighty squat is in so many workouts for a reason-- for many reasons, actually. Its an effective lower-body exercise that works a bunch of muscles at once, including the glutes, quads, and core. You dont need any equipment to do a squat. In its most basic form, your weight and gravity give you all the resistance you need. But you can easily add free weights or resistance bands if you want to challenge yourself ...and continue developing muscle mass and strength. The squat is a very functional exercise, which means it trains a movement pattern that you use in everyday life. When it comes to adding equipment, squats are really versatile. You can use dumbbells, kettlebells, a barbell, or resistance bands. It really comes down to what youre most comfortable with. Visit my website for more tips and tricks. www.katiejanewaterhouse.com

07.01.2022 Another great post from @the.holistic.psychologist - - - - - - Nutritional psychiatry is an emerging field that is desperately needed. Inside your gut are trillions of microbes. These microbes digest the food you eat. They create neurotransmitters which travel from the gut to the brain via the gut-brain axis.... The gut and the brain are in constant communication. When we eat foods that damage the gut, over time the microbes get out of balance. Tiny holes are made in the gut known as leaky gut. This allows the bacteria to enter the blood stream. It can cause inflammation and affect the immune system. It can lead to depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. If the inflammation is chronic, it can affect the brain. Neuroinflammation is cited in psychiatric disorders as well as neurodegenerative disorders. Food is a powerful intervention. If you’ve used food to improve your mental health share with the community in comments #selfhealers

02.01.2022 What is a leaky gut syndrome? The gastrointestinal (GI) tract is a tube of connected organs that runs from the mouth to the anus. The organs of the GI tract include:: the esophagus... the stomach the small and large intestines Digestive enzymes in the stomach and small intestine break down nutrients in food and drink into smaller molecules that the body uses for energy, growth, and repair. The intestines also play an essential role in protecting the body from harmful bacteria and toxins. Tight openings in the intestinal walls allow water and nutrients to pass through into the bloodstream while keeping harmful substances inside. In LGS, these openings become wider, allowing food particles, bacteria, and toxins to enter directly into the bloodstream. ctto: medicalnewstoday.com
