23.01.2022 Beautiful Daisy the recipient mare for our amazing ET palomino Trakehner filly. She was a very gentle loving mare. She carried our foal and the did an amazing j...ob loving her for the first week of her life. Then a freak paddock accident while Daisy played with her filly resulted in a compound fracture of her right canon bone and left us no choice but to euthanase her. Horses seem to be accidents waiting to happen and life can be very unkind. We managed to find a foster mare but she didn't want to play the game. She now seems to love me and lets me milk her to bucket feed the foal. In desparation we bought old Krystal home (28 years young) We popped her in the adjoining stable and within 2 hours with on milk inducing drugs or hormones she had tiny beads of milk on the ends of her teats. So we popped them together. Krystal couldn't believe her luck and nickered and nuzzled both the foal and us, 'Do you know I have a baby and I love her". Such a special old mare. Milk inducing treatment has begun. Even if it doesn't work I have a very happy foal and mare. The foal feeds by alternating been Krystal and the bucket. It seems you need a village to raise a foal. So far so good. Thanks everyone for your concern and sharing our post looking for a foster mare.it been an emotional roller coaster over the last few days. 19.01.2022 Nathan Harvey has put his riding accident behind him and made the giant leap to ride his beautiful big mare, Adela who was given to Nathan by Sponsors' Gary & W...arren Schutz from Gwarryen Trakehners Horse Stud. Warren & Garry heard about the accident back in November 2019 & made the generous decision to give Nathan a horse that was not only bred for the competition arena, but also had the temprament & intelligence to keep Nathan safe in the saddle. Adela has recently been 'broken-in' by 'Lord Dressage' Australia, located at Beadesert, so many people behind the scenes have made this possible for Nathan and we thank you sincerely. We would also like to thank Park Ridge Adult Riding Club for allowing Nathan to use the Round Yard while training Adela, until he regained his confidence to venture around the beautiful grounds at PRARG, it was not long before Nathan & Adela hit the dressage arena's and also had a stroll around the lovely grounds. Riding late into the afternoon, the sun disapering behind the trees, Nathan & Adela were enjoying one another - but the light was becoming barely visible, so we ventured all the way home all of 1-2 km away. 16.01.2022 2020 Assessment Tour. once again Trakehners Australia Inc, has run a very successful assessment tour for both TA and TV with Matthias Werner as our assessor. ...A huge thank you to Matthias for sharing his wisdom and valuable time with us. It is great to get feed back on our Australian horses from such a knowledgeable and positive Trakehner enthusiast. A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the tour with you horses. It was great to catch up with friends and to meet new ones and see their beautiful Trakehner horses. It is good to now have faces to put with names and horses as well. As a result of the tour Australia now has a new premium assessed stallion, a number of premium scored mares in both TA and TV studbooks and a some quality foals assessed into both TA and TV studbooks. The future is looking bright for Trakehners in Australia. I just want to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped make this tour a huge success. That includes the wonderful hard working TA committee, people who showed such lovely hospitality billeting us and showing us around, Glennis from IHB for her sponsorship, Holsteins Australia and the Australian Sports Pony Register and some Westphalen breeders for joining us. We look forward to a long and supportive development of all of our assessment tours. This year our tour reached Tasmania and north Qld for the first time as well as Victoria. Hopefully next year we can cover even more of Australia. We have begun planning already so Trakehner breeders take note and start preparing. Also thank you to the NZ Warmblood Association for working in with us. We even managed to get home safely before Corona virus shut the world down. 13.01.2022 ADELA'S FIRST TIME WITH A BRIDLE AND SADDLE (Calm and graceful) Sponsored by Gwarryen Trakehner Horse Stud - Garry & Warren Shultz gave a supreme quality 4 yea...rs old filly named Adela to Nathan. She is an unbroken gentle giant, but she was bred for dressage and built for Nathans's height and many dreams to come. We have been working on the groundwork for months in a headstall. This is the first time we used a bridle and saddle. Once we had the bridle and saddle on, Adela walked calmly out of the wash bay as if she had done this 100 times before. We began our groundwork to establish that all is safe with a comfy PED Bits - The Evolutionary Comfort Bits, bridle, and her Kieffer Saddle. Adela felt comfortable and showed total trust. I always use gloves and a helmet during groundwork because the horse has a mind of its own when they are frightened they take flight. Lucky Adela was with me all the way. We practiced lifting all four feet, stretching exercises to allow Adela to feel the physical movements with a saddle. With Nathan Harvey as my super photographer, we captured moments of Adela's calmness and intelligence. For the first time, I asked for her to Yield, to drive away using the same rider aids with my thumb, Adela quickly caught on which direction I wanted her to go. We went forward, backward, left and right and she also moved off the hindquarters. Nathan and I were mind blown! Adela was enjoying herself, so I taught her how to move around me in a circle, we wanted a walk, but Adela was a smarty pant's and showed a bit of trot, she was just as good in the opposite direction. Nathan and I were so happy with Adela, we took off the saddle and bridle and gave her some treats. In the wash bay, Adela showed more surprises, after her hose down, I sprayed coat conditioner on her body and gave her a full body massage. You will see the last photo, I am cleaning her titties - she enjoyed this so much she lifted her leg to show more spots she needed a massage. I think by the time Adela makes it to the breakers, all he will need to do is sit on her. See more

12.01.2022 Adela: Gwarryen Trakehners Horse Stud Sponsor gives Nathan Harvey a beautiful dressage Trakehner mare bred for dancing A very generous gift was given to Natha...n after his accident involving a young horse that reared and almost killed Nathan after it fell backward on top of Nathan, leaving him in hospital then recovery for months. Nathan broke his Shoulder, Collarbone, 7 ribs, Sacrum 1 & 2, Shattered Pelvis, Collapsed lung, a punctured lung, and Liver with bleed outs. Nathan still had his 2 old Faithfuls to come home to, after a full recovery which only God could have foreseen, Dom & Flip, they are both 17 years on this left Nathan without a young horse on his Team. Traveling along with the Grape Vines to Beautiful Victoria Garry & Warren Schutz of Gwarryen Trakehners Horse Stud weighed up the idea of giving to Nathan either an unbroken blank canvas or a trained broodmare, the decision was not dealt with lightly, we tried a young 4-year-old named Adela. "She is a Big Beauty of love and sweetness with moves of a block V8 Motor," says Nathan Harvey. Once she arrived off the truck it was instant love between Adela and Nathan, & after settling in we turn her life around sending her to be broken in by one of 'Australia's top FEI rider, trainer, Instructor and Breaker Matthew Lord' from 'Lord Dressage', says Nathan. No matter how cute, thems the rules, no dogs at the PRARG grounds, with a quick exit we finished the day with another Jackpot, Matts company and a cup of tea & one of Katie Atkins famous Shepards Pie and the worlds best Pumpkin Soup! 05.01.2022 Long over due post on our Trakehners Australia Foal Assessment. It all seems a little unimportant and irrelevant in view of the Covid 19 outbreak but still supe...r proud of the foals we bred and their achievements. Hopefully they will provide a distraction for at least a short time. We presented 6 foals for assessment by Matthias Alexander Werner and scored 5 premium scores (and the one that missed was only by a small margin). I did make a tactical error the night before assessment and combined the 2 groups of mares and foals. The foals obviously had a bit of a party and were all a bit tired and not moving flamboyantly as they could. Never mind you live and learn. We presented the last 4 foals of Oakley's Absolution for 3 premiums and 2 by Conjor Solaris who both scored premium. 04.01.2022 Adela's first Shoeing! Our baby 3-year-old rising 4, having her first set of shoes today. Our friend and Farrier Tony Handley said that Adela did not put a foot... wrong, she was calm and behaved like an old pro. Adela has been a joy to work with, she has been lunged in a roller with 2 reins from a headstall, I need to order a bridle big enough for her head before we begin mouthing and driving her.
